With the cost of living rising to levels not seen in a very long time if not seen at all.

Would you start to refuse to pay your bills, and look after yourself and those who depend on you?

That's not a good idea because if you refuse to pay your bills, you get fined and/or imprisoned, which further compromises your ability to earn and therefore look after those who depend on you.

The best thing to do with the rising cost of living is to look at your own expenditure and cut back and prune.

Do you really need a new phone ? A new telly ? A new car ? A holiday ? A takeaway every week ? Those trainers ? That jacket ? etc etc etc.

You can save yourself by not spending on the economy.

I'm sure half the crap we all buy we don't really need anyway. Just mindless consumerism.

I hear you, as I work with the poorest, I am finding that I cannot save them any cash in fact they do not have the cash and fall into negative in other words the are living with nothing after there bills are being taken into account and still owe money so have no choice as not to pay their bills or they will starve or die of exposure when winter comes.

So I see it as they have no choice.

Which is why I posed the question.

It's a tough situation and a disheartening one, I agree.

Are any of the bills "superfluous" ? Netflix, Gym Membership, other services ? Can saving be made there ?

Can savings be made by changing food brands ? Bulk home cooking ?

I'm sure you've been all through this and probably as many charities you can think of.

Prison where you looked after, fed and all your bills paid. What bill exactly do I not pay to get prison time? I'm fairly sure not consuming fuel isn't a crime.

Or simply cut-off..

Water they put a dribble restriction on the supply, not sure about the others.

Refuse at your peril, bad credit and bailiffs. The law is not on your side.

Every supplier has a late payment fee, all it'll do is rack up more to pay.
