Went to get my weekly shop and the fruit and veg aisles looked they were having a closing down sale.
Never, ever seen anything like it for as long as I can remember. What wasn’t out of stock was old and manky looking and there were literally rows and rows of upturned, empty green boxes.
For the first time ever, I had to go to Asda and to Tesco to get my full weekly shop of veg - but even Tesco were limited in stocks of things like broccoli and cauliflower.
I thought all this would have been sorted by now, but it seems to be getting worse. |

"Who's going to be brave enough to mention the elephant in the room? "
Brexit, or the War in Ukraine where farm workers from Ukraine that would be here giving low cost labour are stuck home fighting to save their country?
Dollar is shite, Euro is shite with our trashed economy, fuel is through the roof and labour is scarce.
Didn't we once have the strongest economy in the world? $2 to the £1, kiss them days goodbye.
Then - there is the hold up at ports through Customs.
Enjoy ya tomatoes. |

"This is old news found out to be bullshit last time it was posted "
Send me your mobile and I’ll send you the pics I sent to my wife because I couldn’t get her broccoli and cauliflower,
What’s the point of lying, it’s common news that all supermarkets have restricted supplies and choice. Obviously in Asda on Monday they were particularly struggling. |

Plenty of Kale at my Asda, but no Spinach. Maybe we could post to each other. |

Do you actually read posts before replying or do you just have embedded pre-conceived responses to what you think will be in a post? |

We've noticed our local supermarket regularly seems to be restocking fruit. Certainly less than there used to be in our immediate area. Can't speak for other places mind you. |

Might be no bad thing looking at the bigger picture. Maybe, they are just putting less on the shelves as it guarantees no wastage if 'Sold Out'.
Not like the dried up Garden Plants they try to pass off as alive!!
Every week, deliveries arrive and 10% sold on the first day Beyond the first day they are shrivelled up and wilted, a quick water revives them long enough to sell another 10%. Day three, all dead and fit ony for composting.
Completed waste of money in purchasing and transportation only to sell 20% once arrived.
They must be wasting £1,000's on shipping dead plants.
Our local ALDI, has full array of Solar Panels on the roof. I wrote to commend them with a reply from their CEO, claiming they always seek to put them on. Then, 18 months ago, building was completely demolished and rebuilt without putting back on.
Now they have removed this source of income/savings, the energy costs of running the shop is now increased drastically and with one option, to pass it on to the customer.
More efficiency, less wasted would go a long way to reducing food costs to us. |
