Bit of an odd 1 this. Johnson apparently tried to give Carrie a 100k+ job at the Foreign Office when he was running it. When he waas having an affair with her.

So far, this is standard Johnson behaviour. Seeming corruption, trying to give a lady he was shagging on the side public money. (Arcuri all over again.)

Where this all gets odd is when the story started vanishing. Within hours, the story just vanished from the Times, the Daily Mail, MSN + others too. This is not remotely normal. Smells a hell of a lot like Johnson or 1 of his cronies bullied or paid people off...

New: Downing Street has confirmed that members of Boris Johnson’s team intervened following the publication of a story about his wife Carrie in The Times, but denied that the prime minister himself contacted the paper to complain.

Are you sure that's the right smell you're getting? Could it be the smell of a story based on rickety foundations, that got pulled as soon as they realised that it was all made up?

Number 10 have admitted they intervened after the article was published and the journalist is standing 100% behind the story..

Times journalist, ex daily mail publishes a report based upon Lord Ashcroft also claiming that Boris tried to give Carrie a paid role in government when he was having an affair with her, similar to Arcuri..

More slime and sleaze..

Not how it works. There would have been some sort of printed retraction. + the story has now been picked up elsewhere.

It has? Great! That means that we'll be able to see all the details, and can work out for ourselves whether it is a real story or not. I look forward to someone posting a link to a reputable newspaper article on it.

Feel free to look it up. You can read about Carriegate in the Independent or the Guardian or the London Economic.

Or the National in Scotland. Or the Herald in Scotland. More seem to reporting Carriegate all the time.

It's not just the story Johnson apparently tried to effectively give public money to a mistress. It's now also a story about a potential coverup...

In fairness reporting, I'd also like to see a list of all MP's staff regardless of party to see how many of them have family members and friends on the payroll.

Ministry of truth. Media doesn't work to report the truth. It is there to manipulate and persuade masses of people. Be this through advertising or shaping social and political opinions.

It's funny when folk blame lefties or Tories for things. Both are just side shows at best or sock puppets for the real people with power.

Billionaires and bankers.

Yeah, that’s fair enough, do you know of any MPs who have tried to give their mistress a job whilst they’re wife had cancer

none I know of

Closest I can find is a Mayor who may or may not have taken his mistress on paid trips to conferences etc. I don't know if his wife had cancer at this point.

(Details may be wrong. Can't be arsed to check)

It doesn't matter what me or you know. The point was if your going to report on one MP in fairness you need to look into all the others as well.

For example MP expenses didn't stop at just one MP did it.

Pulling a story with your fellow right wing chums, smacks of corruption, pure and simple, and yet the righties will defend the slob, I wonder how many more supporters will fall on their own sword to protect this dishonourable man, a man who wouldn’t even spit on them if they were on flames. A selfish man who cares more about getting his dick wet and cannot control himself. Is he even a man? Or a pig in a suit?

That’s true, I honestly don’t know if this story is proven to be true , that any rules were broken, morally it’s disgusting but we all know Boris has none

According to The Telegraph, Lord Geidt thinks reports that Johnson tried to appoint Carrie to a taxpayer-funded government job should be looked into by his predecessor.

What a shame Johnson has lost two ethics chaps + has none at the moment. One could say Johnson is without ethics.

I think you are missing the point. The actual story is no longer the story, we all know about nepotism in all walks of life.

It's more about the fact the government put pressure on The Times to drop the story, and they did.

That, for me at least, is the huge problem here.

Carrie is said to have stuck two fingers down her throat and feigned gagging when a friend suggested she may have a thing for Boris. They're certainly made for each other.
