Tobias Ellwood about Brexit.
Jump to: Newest in thread
For once a Tory MP with some common sense saying we should join the European Single market to help businesses and northern Ireland with cutting out all the red tape.
He has said Brexit hasn't got to plan and its not what everyone expected. Plus it would help with the cost of living.

"“Tobias Ellwood like Rory Stewart, popular amongst people who will NEVER in a million years vote Tory”
We used to vote Tory until Johnson was elected, I wouldn't give him the time of day. "
…. and if your location of Chorley is correct, you wouldn’t have been able to vote Conservative in 2019 anyway.

. Facts would tend to contradict his claims . Quote from another publication Ellwood’s claims about the fates of individual sectors are largely nonsense. Far from Scottish producers not being able to sell salmon in the EU, their sales to the EU in 2021 were up by 29% with worldwide salmon exports at near-record levels. Meanwhile, financial services exports to the EU in the last three months of 2021 totalled £6 billion, basically unchanged from the same period in 2019. Total financial services exports worldwide rose from £13.6bn to £14.8 billion between the two periods. The reference to farmers being ‘undercut’ by unchecked imports is simply bizarre, especially in the light of his supposed concerns about the cost of living. |

The next tory leader needs to rebuild and reset the relationship with Europe, we need to actually have grown up conversations, instead of this pandering to a minority of People.
Brexit promised much, but clearly it is over the heads of this present administration. |

In fairness, brexit promised a lot of things that are simply not possible, even with a competent government. |

It was v telling to see Johnson + Gove when they won the Brexit vote + had to give a victory speech. They both looked miserable. Far from victorious. As if they had just realised they'd now be expected to deliver on the impossible promises they had made... |

Don’t worry David Davies has claimed that we can ask him about the benefits of Brexit in 12 months time
First they blamed the EU
Then they blames COVID
Then they blamed the war in Ukraine
What will be next ?
