Apart from the fact we don't have a Chief of Police in the UK, or a National Police Force. The Chief Constable or Police Commisioner has jurestiction within their own boundaries. Police Forces often co-operate but won't investigate in another patch unless invited by the Constabulary or Force in question, or if appointed by the Home Secretary. I could be wrong.
The Mayor Of London is free to comment on anything he wishes.
The Police will investigate crimes when reported or detected when in the public interest.

"Oh look another person that's not in London obsessing over the London mayor."
How do you know they don’t also have a pad in London? Quite common to have a Pied-à-terre in London during the week and a country hoke for the weekend. Do those people not pay council tax in London and have a right to an opinion on the matter? |

"Why all the hate for Khan? Can anyone tell me because from the outside he doesn’t seem too bad."
As the head of TFL it's his responsibility that the new Elizabeth Line opened three and half years late. It still won't be fully open till 2023. Under his watch it's £5 Billion over budget.
He has authorised bonuses to the bosses of this project even when they kept missing opening dates. It was due to open in 2018!
He increased his own press office from what the previous London Mayor had. He loves a photo opportunity and you can currently find him on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Local news websites his own website and any other thing you can think of.
Recently spent a week in the US looking at legalised cannabis farms. He no authority to change the laws in the UK so about from being photo opportunity with his increased press office I cant see any other reason for him to be there. It was also a free jolly paid by London Council Tax payers.
He also over spent the TFL budget and demanded bail outs from the UK taxpayer to dig him out of his incompetence.
He is also anti motorists. Introduced the ULEZ to the north and south ring roads. Looking at ways to move it as far as the M25 ring road. Plus looking at introducing pay per mile use of your car. |

Yeah, this is not true.
The majority of TfL's borrowing was under Alexander De Pfiffel Johnson's reign as London Mayor.
Don't forget he also spent £50M of taxpayers money on an imaginary bridge.
As of this year, Khan in total has borrowed £2M, while Alex borrowed £7M.
The Government were happy to bail out the privately owned rail franchises during the pandemic, yet didn't want to bail out TFL. |

The fourth bail out announced in February will bring the total amount of bail out money to almost £5 Billion.
His plan is to hit the London motorist hard to get money back.

He will certainly try but I don't think it will work out too well for him.ULEZ hasn't generated the income he expected.
And extending it out to the M25 as he wants might cause a few problems.

Most major UK cities have plans to keep motorists out of the city centre. Newcastle has removed most of the parking and made it almost impossible to drive through the city without going through a bus lane for which you will be fined. I don’t think that’s a Khan problem it’s more to do with pollution. |

That's one of his big problems.
He has had budgets of non existent incomes. He based budgets on the Elizabeth Line opening in 2018 but that income never happened but still spent the money.
Estimated ULEZ money has been far less so another hole.
He bashed motorist during covid with the congestion charge going up, longer hours plus weekend charging.
He also want to charge £2 a day on all cars.
I hope the likes of the AA and RAC mount some sort of legal challenge against this crook. |

I like to know how the population of ten million for the Greater London area would use public transport to carry out there day to day lives.
South London has a fraction of tube line stations that the North do.
Khan is also looking at cutting one hundred bus routes now the Elizabeth Line is open. So even less TFL services.
Just imagine, thinking of doing that DIY job. First work out what buses you need to get to your nearest b&q then wonder how your going to get you stuff home on the bus! |

South London has national rail links. So much more than north London. It also has the tram network. It's actually very easy to travel in South.
And if someone was doing DIY and bought a whole load of stuff then they would drive. It's about unnecessary use of cars, not getting rid of them full stop.
On the topic of busses being cut, this has been planned for years. They are investigating cutting parallel services in the city - buses that follow the same route as crossrail. This will reduce pollution and congestion in central London. The routes will still operate outside of central London. |

It all very well you sitting in Ilsington saying how good the travel links are in South London. However actually South Londoners are not so happy about the lack of TFL services.
So if you live or work in the middle of two Elizabeth Line stations and currently use a bus to get to your stop. It's ok to now force people to walk because your bus service has been cut by Khan. Must be fantastic news for the elderly and disabled especially on a cold winters day. |

When the congestion charge was first introduced by Red Ken Livingston the Labour Mayor it was £5. It was sold to us as to the cut down the number of cars entering the square mile and to cut pollution. Nothing to do with making money we was told.
However, not long after the charge went up to £7.50.
Maybe you are thinking the congestion charge didn't do it's job and cars were still driving in on mass. Sadly you are wrong, the congestion charge actually did it's job better than anyone expected especially Red Ken. So facing with a fall of expected income from the London Motorist he put the charge up by 50%.
So it turns out the congestion charge IS an actually money maker after all and had bugger all to do with pollution.
Labours answer is to add extra taxes to the little man and lie to everyone it's about pollution. |

I lived in Croydon for most of my life so I know what I'm talking about thank you very much.
Secondly, if you read what I posted and also read TFLs plans, it's about cutting services along the central section which follow the same route as crossrail. No one's forcing anyone to walk, buses will still run in central London.
Imagine if rail replacement buses ran while the tube was fully functional. It's a waste of money, pollution and road space. |

It's a waste of money, pollution and road space."
Well TFL have actually done a case study into the lack of services and value for money. So there is a problem. |

I was in London yesterday and there were more shops and businesses open on the high streets than when I grew up there so I would say that is utter bollocks being spouted by some on here. Also the tories have taken away central government financial support for all councils so realistically they don’t have much option other than to find ways of raising income by taxing road users. Plus the pandemic has drained the coffers of all transport providers so blaming the mayor for an overspend just makes me think the suburban people don’t like non white people who are good at their job rather than fat white rich bellends like de Pfeffel! |

He also over spent the TFL budget and demanded bail outs from the UK taxpayer to dig him out of his incompetence.
Most major UK cities have plans to keep motorists out of the city centre. Newcastle has removed most of the parking and made it almost impossible to drive through the city without going through a bus lane for which you will be fined. I don’t think that’s a Khan problem it’s more to do with pollution.
And watch the businesses crumble...
You’re not wrong and my family have been hit hard by this but it has offered more opportunities for businesses outside the city centre.
Has it worked ?
Smaller businesses outside the city centre are doing a lot better. A lot of larger businesses are opening stores in business parks so yes I think it has worked.
Rubbish.Motorists are seen as a cash cow as if it was about pollution they would ban the polluting vehicles.
The ULEZ and congestion charge has made no difference in London.Pollution is just as bad if not worse.
Just sit in the same jams but now with lots of electric vehicles.
Always was a money maker and it really didn't do much for congestion in the city when it came or at least at the times I was travelling in.Made money for the company I was working for at the time as all jobs had it added.Ken also extended it west to raise more money.
All it did was displace traffic and continues to do.As if traffic can't go one way it goes another. |

From the turn out in the election think you will find most people in London didn't care which clown won.And were resigned to that fact.
Kahn reminds me a lot of Livingston fighting silly battles that he cannot win |

Boris:
Took credit for hire bikes from Ken Livingstone. Allowed Barclays to walk away without paying the full sponsorship
Wasted tens of millions of pounds of taxpayer's money on the vanity project garden bridge which was never even constructed.
Spent £60M on the vanity project which is the Emirates cable car which no one uses.
Wasted over £600,000 on the purchase of an old illegal water cannon.
Introduced the "boris bus" Routemasters which were 5x more expensive than regular buses and were manufactured poorly.
Left Sadiq a TFL deficit of £1.5bn and a nominal debt of £9.1bn.
Was Boris a good mayor of London? What did he do which wasn't planned before he became mayor? |

It’s a good card to play considering historical events…. let’s face it Brexit was sold on a long line of immigrants on a poster so it always seems appropriate to bring it up when anybody has something nebulous to say about the mayor and it’s a load of half truths and distortions of fact imho. Oh and just fyi I wish the Labour Party were as golden as they were back in Tony Blair’s day but they fight like cats in a sack these days and hence Boris and his second rate cabinet are getting a free ride most of the time. |

And he has had how long to start and fix
the problems that he inherited.Or at least show that he has some idea of how.No its more important to legalise some brown grass.
Should of made the manufacturer fix the Boris busses.Again TFL failing whilst being payed bonuses
But no goes around bleating.Driven around in a 300K Range Rover whilst telling us to use public transport. Why doesn't he get on it.Ken did.
He is if not careful going to end up the same way as Ken

....But Khan has improved TFL finances.
He reduced TFL's deficit by 71%.
It was Bojo who f'ed up TFL funding. In 2015 he agreed with George Osborne, the then chancellor, that TFLs grant from the national government would be phased out.
Public transport cannot operate on revenue alone it needs funding from the Government. Boris knew this but decided to get rid of this grant as his last hurrah as mayor. |

Which was poor on Boris. And should never have been allowed to go through.
Central Government should fund some of but the question is about how much.He should of been increasing fares at the rate of inflation not playing to the Grandstand about not increasing them.We already have what most people outside of Greater London would call low fares.
So by how much should they be subsidised and by who is the biggest question that needs resolving. Not the continual silly spats |
