a labour source* infentold me they used to look at what the Tories were planning and hontje other way. However this no longer works given the flip flopping u-turninh of the current government. So now their plan is simply not not to have Boris as their leader. And if that fails, show leg.

I’d say the Tories have done a great job at bankrupting the UK. It’s actually a myth that the UK’s finances are worse under Labour.

If we include all our pension liabilities then probably. Printing money against bonds helps but it’s just putting off the problem.

Our property values are what’s keeping us afloat which is why you will never see enough houses built.

Some people do proper research. Don’t start spouting the Liam Byrne joke letter from 2010, the country’s finances were worse before the pandemic then in 2010, after 9 years of Tory austerity.

It’s clear when you really look into that time period that, despite some of his faults (incessant tinkering with tax rules etc), it was Gordon Brown who actually stepped up and led the way to avert an even worse crisis from happening in 2008.

From their website:-

1. We have a fully-funded plan to cut bills now paid for with a one-off windfall tax on oil and gas producers, saving households up to £600 on energy bills.

2. We would fix the energy system in the long term by insulating homes, investing in nuclear and renewables, and properly regulating the energy market.

3. Our plan to buy, make and sell more in Britain and our £28bn climate investment pledge will get the economy firing on all cylinders.

4. We're going to return all the empty beer bottles from our parties and get the 10p back on each of them to invest in the country.

Has the new free port created any new jobs for ‘local ‘ people? Things are ok here but are going to get a lot worse for a lot of people when food and fuel prices go up again , especially when the government refuses to help and keeps telling us that we have a robust economy and low unemployment.

Found this

"Labour would get Britain’s economy firing on all cylinders to bring an end to the cost-of-living crisis and make our country prosperous. In government we would do this by buying, making and selling more in Britain, our climate investment pledge, and by scrapping business rates and replacing them with a fairer system"

Then heard Anneliese Dodds on Jeremy Kyle say the same thing this morning and she says its all costed, now all i need to find what they will be buying making & selling, and the costings and what a fairer system is, its like pulling teeth with Labour.

"Just so you all know...she got not 1 but TWO pairs of PERONALISED AirPods which she claimed for on the taxpayer. She’s a c**t

Really? Btw, interesting profile "

she bought air pod pros. Which yoy can PERSONALISE for free (or at least, isn't in the price!).

I have no idea the air pods are good vfm. But she didn't spend tax payer money just on personalising them.

I don’t recall a similar level of outrage when it was revealed Geoffrey Cox was earning £900k a year as a lawyer working on behalf of the British Virgin Islands AGAINST the UK despite also being the UK Attorney General at the time?

I like Angela as she reminds me of my sister who was also a teen mum with minimal qualifications but now doing ok for herself. Knows everyone, gobby and easily fired up but if the family need anything sorting out we send her in.

Think there's also a smidge of an Ange crush and I love the "ginger fury" as a redheaded ex put it.

The real question is: why did she need TWO pairs?

Has she got particularly dirty ears?

Is she careless? (Many spending other people’s money are)

Is she extravagant (many spending other people’s money are)

Did she mis-spell her own name on the ‘personalisation’ and have to order another pair?

Will she buy a third pair?

Is she still wondering how to plug them in?

But the ‘other’ side wasted more money so move along. Nothing to see here.

Bit over zealous with the noughts, from what she earns out side parliament she and others should pay for them, how she gets paid for some of the work allegedly does we all know she is no where close to being qualified to do,but Woolworths did close down and she needs job.

Curious to know what you think qualifies someone to be an MP? After all our esteemed PM only has a Degree in classic languages. Not even a First!"

Other than the party screening and selection process - is there any qualification requirement? Maybe that’s the issue? Too many unqualified oiks in Government? Oh hold on how many went to Oxbridge?

Here

Im not sure if any of you read what Rayner gets paid for.

My duties are to provide three written commentaries a week on global markets and economies excluding the UK, and making oral and written presentations to investment meetings. I receive £48,222 a quarter for an expected commitment of 50 hours a month.

Someone that left school at 16 only achieved a NVQ Level 2 in sign language, regardless of political sway, nobody who put a cv in like hers would not even get to an interview for that type of job.

Id like to see one of her written presentations on global markets. In days gone it would be termed a job for the boys.

she is clearly a very clever woman to have achieved so much after being held back by conservative policies in her younger days. the country is oviously very lucky to have her in the commons and her input to the country is massively appreciated by the silent majority.

MPs “consultancy fees” have v little to do with their intelligence. It is all about access, influence and getting the inside track.

Wonder how much Liz Truss and Nadine Dorries are earning on top of their Ministerial salaries? Certainly won’t be for their brains/intelligence. I have seen cleverer sandwiches!

It's small potatoes, sounds good that's all,if everyone got £100 I'd be surprised that would make a difference, pension pots would loose out,is it worth it for a small gain now, over long term, still have no idea how Labour would change it apart from Rachel Reeves saying they would borrow money.

BTW, while I agree that MPs claiming expenses to pay to light and heat their stables, or build a duck house, etc are clearly taking the absolute p1ss, an MP claiming for headphones (inc airpods) makes absolute sense as a business related expense.

They need to take sensitive calls or listen in on meetings they are unable to attend while in public places like a train). So any outrage on that particular item is totally misplaced!

I remember her getting interviewed on BBC Breakfast News and being asked about those earphones and why did she buy such an expensive set. Her reply was that her phone would only work with these type of earphones – which is a blatant lie. She also said that Matt Hancock had bought the same make so that seemed to make it all right and when the presenter pointed out that Hancock's were nearly £!00 cheaper she said it was because she got hers personalised.

It was reported that she had lost the first pair so that’s why she got another set. Suppose you don’t need to be so careful with your property if other people are buying it!

stuff gets lost all the time. The cabinet office lost over 500 items in the space of four years.

This is where pesonal views come into play. But if they were worth the money the first time, they were worth the second.

It's difficult to tell if she would have acted differently if she had paid for them. Do you lose your work equipment more than your personal equipment?

This thread:

What is labours plan?

Someone provides plan.

Will no one answe my question?

This is what I found. Pretty much the answer provided.

Raynor wasted tax payers money on PERSONALISED air pods

Personalisation doesn't cost extra.

Look she can afford it. Look how much she earns.

That's not her expenses

Repeat the personalised bit/earnings bit a few times.

Its a car crash.

Engaged debate requires balance, intelligence and an ability to adapt/learn from new information as well as concede when a better point or argument is presented without blind adherence to ideology of a party - bust of the sale of it. This is clearly missing at the extremes of both political stances.

The basic premise of this post was partisan but understandable but then it degenerated into some awful old claptrap about personalised earbuds which was a pointless diversion from those on the beyond stupid side of right. I mean who gives a fuck about a couple of sets of EarPods compared to all the money squandered/laundered on defective PPE and loans? Not exactly comparable as examples of malpractice are they? A 2bn windfall tax could reduce bills by £600 for about 3m households (or the bottom 10pc). I suspect the "up to" is doing some heavy lifting but it creates a bit of money to help.

The other bits do feel light in the detail. No lighter than any Tory policy tho. So I wonder what detailed policies the Tories have to secure your vote. Or given how long they have had at least one hand on the reign of power ... What actual stuff have they delivered to show you can trust them to deliver on policy ...
