Here’s a challenge - and first to break the tules has to go and sot on the naughty step… 
WITHOUT mentioning Tax, Brexit or the Tories - list 3 changes that you think (so likely opinion over fact - we should respect that) …. Would make Britain a better place to live.
I’ll start with
1) Being more polite and considerate (in general, make it a virtue over some of the selfish me me me behaviour we sometimes see).
2) Ban shallow reality TV shows and replace with something that would serve as a better ‘role model’ for our children e.g. “gap year helping the poor” type of thing.
3) democratic system of voting be updated with PR so we break the divisive/tribal them and us cycle of two main parties. Life is much more complex than a binary choice of this or that, so we should have a system which fosters more collaboration and cross sectional consensus. It may not be perfect but it would probably be more representative and fairer to all.

As for your first point i find in real life people are generally polite, considerate and helpful. I think behind a keyboard its a different matter though and that does not reflect the real world.
I guess some people enjoy reality tv (not that i watch the crap) but its escapism and entertainment for some.I personally would not like it banned as i believe in freedom of choice and there are far to many rules already it is up to parents to decide what their children watch.
PR im not in favour of it. |

Reform the political system so that none of the parties work in the interests of those who donate to them.
Education reform, with a specific aim of teaching kids how to understand the information they receive. The world is full of misinformation, from stuff we can't mention in this thread,  to climate change, to covid etc etc. If people are better equipped to understand sources, analyse who is telling them this information, what these people have to gain by publishing the information; is it scientific or backed up by stats and real information, or is it bollocks.
Thes two things would, overtime transform this country. |

1. PR definitely to endure every persons vote does actually count whatever their leanings. FPTP is not democratic.
2. Dramatically increase prison time for repeat offenders and imprison for a min year those who assault care workers such as nurses and emergency workers such as police ambulance etc. . No time off for good behaviour. If you misbehave you stay longer. Generally get rid of antisocial behaviour to make our country a nicer place to be. Shoot litterbugs or smokers who drop their fag buts and packs everywhere. 
3. Get rid of the appalling celebrity is an ambition rather than achieving something positive and good. The dumbing down of our younger generation’s perspective on life is dragging the country backwards. Sneak this in here Education, Education Education. |

Can't argue with 1. & 2. at all . . . but the problem with PR is that 'little partie's with little issues can get too much airtime and lead to blocked legislation in 3 party coalition/s. Then there comes the problems like we had with the DUP with the smaller party lobbying for unfair advantage if they vote with the party that is trying to 'buy' them over. This leads to the 'little party' having far more power - power that it wasn't given by the majority of the voters - In turn the most popular party can be left in third place.
My number 3. Would be - 'compulsory voting'.

Yes there are pros and cons for PR. But probably worth a try given the current state of affairs.

Yes but by the other extreme a party who more people voted against have absolute power with an 80 seat majority so it balances out with PR. The point on the DUP was the tories had to take account of a minority party which is a good thing. The DUP at no time could set a policy and neither can any minority party . Yes they can try to interfere but if an idea is good then all parties will support it and any extremist views are drowned out. |

1) Proportional Representation - yes I get the arguments about constituency representation but that is completely undermines by the whip. Yes I get the point on minority parties/issues possibly wielding too much influence in a coalition BUT if British Citizens have voted for that party based on issues that matter to them then there should be a corresponding level of representation in Parliament.
2) Absolute legal and enforceable requirement for complete transparency in our political system including MPs interests and tax arrangements, Govt procurement, party donorship, deliver or explainable non delivery of party manifesto pledges etc.
3) A legally binding constitution with fixed term parliaments and the ability for the electorate to recall MPs and force a by election, along with a guaranteed unbreakable commitment to a fully independent judiciary to hold the executive to account.
4) Sorry can’t keep to three, some form of financial protection for “little people” to properly be able to take on the media and a requirement for the press to apologise/rescind with exactly the same level of publicity (eg front page) as any story(s) they publish that are found to be inaccurate, libellous etc. |

Can I add another two
5) State ownership of national infrastructure and utilities that are essential for living in a modern civilised society ensuring nobody is faced with fuel poverty or shareholders taking precedence over taxpayers.
6) Reversal of public sector outsourcing back to insourcing for things like facilities management (no more charging a hospital or school hundreds of £ to change lightbulbs - instead hire care takers!) |

In a two party coalition or close seat parity it did lead to King Maker rights however. A right that the smallest party shouldn't have, as it had the least votes of all. |

Like this one especially. Making property an attractive investment and the woeful policy to provide adequate social supply has done a huge amount of damage to social mobility. |

This is a really interesting insight. It's nice to see a sincere post.
D. Yes, this could be combined with more information about health and wellbeing. A healthy population is a happy and productive population. |

A president: I think this will bring a sense of change to the voter and bring some political change.
Encouragement of national pride, and being taught what national pride is: I'm not talking about worshiping the flag like a right wing lunatic! I'm talking about recognition of the countries people, products and skills. Baking this into learning, encouraging schools to mix from north to south.
Green / clean space days and locations. Closing roads to all traffic, and allowing people to actually walk where they want. It has been piloted and is proving to be a huge social game changer. |

The national pride one is interesting. Would be nice to have this reassigned to people who want the UK to be the best it can be because they love the country. Instead of lazy folks who wave a flag and pretend there are no problems here. |

So many things, here’s another...
- A return to proper Community policing and bobbies on the beat to help tackle anti social behaviour.
- Increased power to tackle noisy neighbours rather than toothless local councils
- Zero tolerance to drug possession and dealing (all drugs including cannabis) |

Change away from FPTP. Votes have to mean something for people to be engaged
Change to the education system away from answering questions to asking questions. Plus increased focus on financial education.
More attempts to rehabilitate offenders and give them alternatives. |
