For those who actually like democracy and vote,
Simple one, what are they key issues that are going to influence the decision on who you will vote for? |

Is there anything that would make you not vote Tory? Anything at all? If Johnson took a massive shit on a cake and then served it to the Queen with a merry wink, would you still vote for him? |

Good point, we can’t have any foreign influences on our British breakfast, maybe we can just eat dirt from the ground and bark from British trees, whilst taking in an ancient British dialect that hasn’t been ruined with any foreign words |

Not everyone goes around accusing people of being racist and anti-semitic (when they clearly are not) and then goes on to post vile anti-muslim content...but hey ho! |

I'll vote for either, whoever is most likely to keep the Tories out or if they're safe (in or out), whoever has the best policies on:
Renewable energy/climate change
National environmental issues
Economy
Tackling the ever increasing wealth divide
NHS
In short - mitigation against Brexit. |

How come, will they not hand billions of public money to their friends?
If you really want to continue with the most self serving government we've seen, you can still vote for them. There are plenty of you out there. |

As a socialist at heart, I struggle to find someone that represents my views.
I therefore compromise and vote against the Torys (I look at the stats from the last elections, look at local polling, and make a decision based on that).
However, sometimes the above leads me to someone for whom I find myself unable to vote. I then resort to spoiling my ballot. |

Anyway, sorry to derail.
People should consider voting, even if you think your chosen party won't get close. If the get a bigger % then next time more people might come out and vote for them etc.
Not that anyone has to do anything. Just an opinion.
I always vote, and the people I vote for rarely get in. But by merely campaigning for something positive, and getting some votes, it might force the big parties to take notice. |

So just to be clear. Your suggesting that voting for smaller parties who I believe to have more integrity, and also because I don't trust that the larger parties have our best interests at heart (exhibit A the current government). You're suggesting that I should for some reason pretend that brexit isn't a huge bag of shit for the UK and British people? |

In my area we have a Labour/ liberal coalition with the Tories as the single biggest party. These are traditionally kick the incumbent government elections and are good way of giving a government a bloody nose. I suspect we will still be lab/lib afterwards but a possibility that Labour might gain enough to rule alone |

"Backing losers"!
But you openly support brexit, which makes losers of us all.
Very strange attitude you have.
Anyhow, I'm going to continue to pick who to vote for by criteria other than who is most likely to get elected. yes i do too.
Then why make an issue of someone wanting to vote for a candidate who may not win?" who,s making an issue of it? |

"It don’t matter in Bristol as the useless Labour/Green Party will get in again
A lose lose situation
How come, will they not hand billions of public money to their friends?
If you really want to continue with the most self serving government we've seen, you can still vote for them. There are plenty of you out there.
No they don’t need any help wasting money and then every year charging more to do it
Yet you keep voting for them.
No I have not voted labour or green so I don’t
So Labour and the Greens are wasting public money by handing billions of it to their friends while in government! Shocking (if true).
If you are so used to being out of sink with the people around you who vote differently you really should not be so bitter about brexit.
So just to be clear. Your suggesting that voting for smaller parties who I believe to have more integrity, and also because I don't trust that the larger parties have our best interests at heart (exhibit A the current government). You're suggesting that I should for some reason pretend that brexit isn't a huge bag of shit for the UK and British people?Nope just pointing out if you keep losing to must be out of synch with the people around you nothing more.
Who keeps losing? Just to be clear, I have never stood for public office.
I've run into this sort of thing before on here. A certain fabber didn't seem to understand I've never run for public office either.Sorry i forgot there are people who dont understand what you mean although im sure they just act that thick.I meant to say keep backing losers.

Wow very little in terms of the issues …. Still the tribal tittle tattle.
To answer the Q:
Strong Public service reform agenda - modernise but short of privatisation esp Healthcare - easier said than done I know.
Strong Environmental AND energy policy.
On international front: Support for Palestine’s oppression. With a move away from fossil fuels we can adopt a more humanitarian focused foreign policy in the region rather than play geopolitical games and follow US lead. |

"For those who actually like democracy and vote,
Simple one, what are they key issues that are going to influence the decision on who you will vote for?"
Long term strategic ones influence our vote. We work on the basis that if this was a general election, who would we vote for ? We then apply that to the local election.
Why ? Because it grows support locally and organically and strengthens said parties further down the line in years to come.
The only way (until Prop Representation eventually means something) to break the 2-party system and deliver meaningful choice to voters is to vote for other parties, and not fret about immediate concerns but look long term.
We like to spend an evening online going through the local councillors and their statements, then looking at their parties national manifestos, before coming to a conclusion.
It's fair to say we're both quite motivated and interested in politics.

Seems most here are mixing up local elections with government issues. Local councillors have no control of anything other than, local housing, roads, bins, local amenities, and to a limited extent in England education provision. |

"Should local councillors be aligned to national party policies given that every borough in the U.K. is different so policies cannot possibly work on such a local level?
"
Absolutely. And policies can most definitely work at a local level.
For example, if Party X emphasises a strong commitment to increased spending on Law & Order, then local councillors should reflect that in their local plans.

An independent party, as long as labour (if they still exist?) libtards and those Green Party nutters don’t get voted in that would be a bit of a bonus. |
