Boris Johnson lied about Partygate

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Boris Johnson lied could probably be a headline on any given day. But with the police now issuing fines over No 10 lockdown parties, it's indisputable Johnson lied about Partygate.

He knew about the parties. He was at some of the parties. And he knew the bloody law he forced the rest of us to obey.

How on Earth can he stay on as PM?

It seems they weren’t worried or felt they needed to abide by the scare tactics they used.

I have a horrible feeling he’s going to get away with it. The way it’s dragged on and the distraction of the destruction in Ukraine.

Hope I’m wrong. PMQs tomorrow should be interesting

Do you think Boris is above using the war in Ukraine for his own political ends?

He did with the pandemic, so why not with the war?

Johnson would do anything and say anything to try and get out of trouble. That's at the heart of his problems. His instinct is never to deal with any problem. Rather, he runs away from problems and just lies.

Think you will find the majority of politicians, once in power, think more about their job than the people who voted them into the job.

To be fair, I'd be exactly the same.

Most of us are hypocritical and self centred, just at different levels.

Good luck to them if they get away with it, I'd lie through my teeth too.

. Most people do not care about these parties. They are entirely irrelevant . An investigation into an issue such this a year after the event is laughable in addition to being a complete waste of public resources . These are people who are running the country. They are entitled to a bit of leeway . Having a drink after work with colleague is hardly an offence. Most members of the public were not under the same pressure as Boris Johnson and his colleagues.

We can safely assume that the Boris bashers are just a very vocal minority and can be safety ignored.

The public will not be forgetting the key achievements of Boris anytime soon . A very successfull exit from the EU followed by successfull management of the Covid crisis . For proof just examine the excess deaths . The President of Ukraine also regards Boris as a world leader .

I cannot see any rational member of the public having any interest in how many fines the police issue.

Hopefully the next election will be another endorsement of the success of Boris .

I agree with the Russian bot. The average Tory party voter does not give a fuck about Boris lying and the various party members breaking the law.

This kind of apathy is why the we keep ending up with self serving pricks who party and laugh while British people die of covid. Meanwhile shoving billions of pounds into their mates pockets.

Slavish devotion to the cause. Boris would be giggling at your unquestioning loyalty. As for working hard. Yes those doctors and nurses in hospitals the lazy bastards. How dare they be forced to say to parents no you can’t see your dying child for long.. that’s pressure .. Pressure is not being surrounded by advisors and helpers all tasked with keeping you away from any technical questions or scrutiny over your constant lying.

"Having a drink after work with colleague is hardly an offence. "

Except it was. It was made an offence by Boris and his government.

That's the best bit about all this.

They either enacted a really dumb law that restricted our freedoms unecessarily. Or it was a good law and they should be held account for breaking it.

Which is it ?

I don't understand how Boris can still maintain "guidance was followed at all times" when 20 fines have been issued for breaking guidelines, with more fines to come.

I do sometimes wonder what it will take for certain people to change their minds. In many cases, it seems the answer is: nothing will change their minds.

That said, I think a number of people have changed their minds on Johnson by this stage. It's just a quesion of how many.

100,000 fines were issued for breaking lockdown rules, roughly 3500 fines for meeting indoors and so on.

If those numbers are the ones that got caught, how many got away with it, more than got caught maybe?

This makes me think some of you here could be rule breakers yourselves..... You know who you are

So almost 3pc of all fines for meeting indoors will be given to MPs and those who work for them !!

My confession: I "exercised" more than once a day to walk the dogs. And while I was in a bubble for real reasons, we did have the odd pizza together.

However... I didn't write the rules. Nor have I denied that rules were broken in my house.

if johnski and the corrupt members of his chumocracy had held their hans up and said 'it's a fair cop guv, throw on the bracelets, we'll come quietly' then fair enough. but they did quite the contrary whinging, bitching and snivelling about how they did not know the rules despite being the very same people who devised those rules and foisted them onto the very silent majority. they should be disbarred from public office for life.

Totally agree.

I can't think of a better time to bury bad news.

It's a case of, today's headline is tomorrow chip paper.

Don't think people are that bothered about a few drinks or indeed, a few major piss ups when folks are being bombed and displaced a few hours flight away, got better things to worry about than a few fines with about as much importance as some parking tickets.
