Reagan’s “Star Wars” plan might have come in quite handy now if it has been able to deliver a functional system.

What they need is em bombs.

If you overload a generator you produce an electromagetic field that shuts down all electrocal equipment

If united states stelth bombers carpet bombed russia with em bombs they would be without power totalt blinde and def and troops can then go in and set up a new goverment

Sounds rather impractical. Given how vast Russia is, a nuke would have launched before the second wave of EM Bombers took off!

Won't work against a hypersonic missile...

It never really worked against anything as the programme was stoped; they was the point. Commenting that something that was scrapped 30 years ago won’t work against a newer version is not the point. The point was do the US now regret not continuing the programme. Is there absolute proof that it is scientifically impossible to stop a hypersonic missile? Probably means we have zero chance of ever escaping this rock for another system then. So might as well man up against Putin and risk the nukes. We’ve nothing to loose - give or take a billion years or so.

It barely worked against relatively slow moving targets and was more political theatre in the escalation in defence spending that bankrupted the Soviet Union.

No chance of working against an object moving several times faster. You can't target something that you cannot track...

But they stopped R&D 30 years ago. Who knows what they could do now, THAT is my point. Could we fire a rocket to the moon in 1939? No. Could not even hit London then with a flying bomb until von Braun did some research. His program was almost scrapped as a failure too! Yet 30 years later his work sends the Yanks to the moon. By your measure we’d not even have a V2. That was my question do we maybe now wish we (well the West/US) had carried on? It is not as of stopping prevented any wars in the meantime is it.

Lets hope Will Smith lives forever too. As we’ll be fucked if aliens visit!

I remember working on this project. All very hush hush but nothing ever came of it.

Didn’t realise Reagan was in Star Wars. Which character? Hope his plan was better than Disney’s as they totally messed it up
