Seems now the government is allowing people to fight in Ukraine.
Though very welcome now, it’s kind of another problem because it was prosecuting people who fought against ISIS and Assad only recently.
It seems our government may need to step up and pardon those who were fighting Pootin and Assad in Syria. |

Not at all. You know the UK Government is a world leader when it comes to double standards.
If Brits want to go and fight in a war that's not their own, due to the strength of their political beliefs - as many of them did, to fight alongside Communists, against Fascists, in the Spanish Civil War - they should be allowed to.
However, they should know that they will receive no more help from the Foreign Office than if they had gone on holiday to Ibiza.
If they come back in a body bag, they'll be celebrated as a hero for a while and then forgotten.
Unfortunately, that's the world we live in. |

"They do not need fighters the whole nation will fight for their existence, they need the means to fight
Fair enough - but they've already made it plain they won't turn anyone away."
Yes and as long as they are not military personnel it’s not against the rule |

"this will probably turn out to be yet another in a long line of tory foreign ministers being schooled on their translation of what is actually allowed in law. "
Apparently she would go out and fight, even though she forgets that she is a representative of the British Goverment and it could be seen a direct intervention from a foreign government, even Rory Stewart said that sending untrained Civilians to fight in conflict zones could bring a whole heap of problems as rules of engagement could be disregarded, if people do decide to go and are not military trained then focus should be on support of relief efforts and humanitarian support like in a medical capacity.
As much as the sentiment to help is there, again Liz truss has stepped us up, but let her mouth has run before her brain could catch up. Which is dangerous to the effort to stop Pootin. |

"They will also not be protected when captured, they'll have less rights than a captured Ukranian soldier. "
I think it becomes an issue related to the Geneva Convention also, remember Enemy Combatants like in Afghanistan. |

They'd have to be really not coping at all with Civvy Street - or just at their happiest in combat - to even consider it. Wouldn't you? |

All the cons and no pros to it, especially captured or wounded. |

I am just thinking less people to challenge you, less people to pop that bubble you're in, if you send them off to the war. |

There are far more than you can imagine.

Liz Truss - there ends any credibility with anything said on any topic (ever) she opens her mouth on. An absolute joke! Have you seen the Cosplay pics of her recently? Jeez what an embarrassment. |
