So I thought this would be a bit of fun, but have you seen a situation where a government used a distraction to move peoples attention away from the governments own poor performance? |

"Look at the immigrants" is the go-to for the Tories. |

Did you not watch DJ Trump and his daily news distractions?
It's how governments have operated for many years, Tony Blair being one of the biggest offenders. 9/11 "a good day for bad news".
Boris is the same, repeat falsehoods numerous times and people start to believe it, the release something more to pull the press away from the bigger issue.
Smoke and mirrors..

October 2001:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/1588323.stm
Conservative Party chairman David Davis has urged a high-level investigation after it emerged that a senior government advisor suggested controversial stories could be buried in the news fallout from the US terror attacks.
Jo Moore apologised on Tuesday for sending a memo on the day of the US terror attacks saying it would be a good time to "bury" some controversial stories.
Now the shoe is on the other foot, the Conservatives are guilty of exactly the same behaviour they ripped the Labour government up at the time.
How the BBC website design has changed over the years.

This is surely day one of how to be a politician school stuff. It happens all over the place and has been the case for ever from all political sides. Another similar tactic is try to pick a fight (political) that you think you will easily win when low in the polls. Make it about another country then even better |

What foreign gvts do, what past gvts did, what hypothetical gvts eould do is irrelevant, What THIS gvt is doing is our problem as UK citizens. It is a disgrace to anybody with a modicum of democratic values and ethics. Whataboutery won't change that. |

Thought I would re-open this with what must surely be the ultimate dead cat on the table - the Saville comment. We all seem to have forgotten that the police are investigating at the heart of our government. Not sure it has helped the stench though, especially after yesterday... |

Fun this is isn it?
What about this one?
Doing a minor reshuffle, and announce a string of policies which appeal to a certain grouping of their party to maintain loyalty, all the while the storm still rages on. |
