"My money is on Lis truss with rishi remaining as chancellor."
I'm not a fan and I don't see how any current cabinet members can get out of this undamaged. I think you could be looking at a heavyweight backbencher. Jeremy Hunt will be in the mix but I don't know enough about the rest of them. |

"Rishi has kept it all at arms length. I think he would make a play whether he has the support is another matter.
"
Maybe too much at arms length.
While manoeuvring and back stabbing is fine behind closed doors, open disloyalty doesn't sit well in the Conservative party.
Not, publicly at least, standing with Boris could do him harm in the long run.

"I do hope it is Liz Truss, that would be hilarious "
I don’t know if hilarious is the right word to be honest. Her back catalogue of embarrassing news clips would make her only slightly less incompetent than the current PM. |

If from the current bunch I would guess Gove. Maybe Jacob as another guess"
They're both also atrocious, which is reflective of how Johnson could only manage shit around him. The no 10 dog has performed fairly well though |

Well, if Boris goes for his parties and people have been defending his absurd accounts then Conservative party members may view it as "loyalty" bit the general public?
Who's kept their heads down?
Zahawi? Financially suspect bit very competent it seems. No idea what his political views actually are.
Sunak? Also the standard Tory business connections and has been able to spend lots of money. Jos politics though?
Javed could make a comeback too as he will take credit for "living with Covid" |

"another freshly turned out soft steaming turd no doubt.
If you had to, who would you choose?"
the point of democracy is that i don't have to vote for somebody. your implication of me having to vote for someone oversteps the boundary into dictatorship.
besides, i like everyone else, don't get to vote on who is the next PM, my voting rights are limited to a group of candidates who stand in the constituancy in which i am registered by the electoral role.
aside from that, i answered the OP's question in a previous post.
hope this helps |

Not really I'm afraid. I simply was asking if you had to choose who would it be. I'm aware in reality it's not your decision but I was asking your opinion. |

Same here. Sunak is too close to Cummings and that may hurt him. Liz Truss seems popular with the grassroots. She'd still be useless as PM though. The Tories just seem to be staggering from one populist idiot to another. |

Nope, Boris has surrounded himself with shite, quite clever really, the majority of the cabinet have been promoted beyond their ability so will be loyal to him |

Ouch, that’s true, tbh , I base his competence with the rest of the cabinet, admittedly it’s at a very low level |

Can’t we pay Angela Merkel to come over on say a two year ‘emergency consultancy’,
to teach / remind our lot how to act & behave as serious public servants, then she can make a recommendation as to who should take charge? |

"There is only one, who could possibly be the next PM and that person is....... Chuck Norris.
Nope. It has to be MacGyver.
But we will all get to choose around:
Thursday 2 May 2024 "
I would also consider MacGyver. |

It would be nice to have someone vaguely competent |

It doesn't matter. All that's available is the dregs from the bottom of the Tory barrel.
That said, they ought to be constrained more than Boris has been; because they'll maybe be smart enough to realise that thinking you can say any old shit and get away with being an incompetent liar, isn't enough to run a country.
We'll have to wait and see. |

Don't forget if a leadership challenge is unsuccessful, another can't be launched for a further 12 months so it's hard to imagine it happening until it's a sure thing...but then again that didn't stop the challenge to Teresa May |

"I think as the letters have dried up perhaps it will be Boris for a little bit longer.
Perhaps Cummings has another revelation he can drop to hasten things along. "
I would not be surprised if Cummings has a recording or other ‘evidence’ up his sleeve. Boris is on the ropes won’t take much more to KO. |

They weren't all screwing it up though.
We also have one of the highest death rates.
The "fiddling twats" were given the money by their actual (not figurative) friends in government. |

This is true, but when you know that your own Party is split in loyalty - it is hard to continue on as a lame duck PM.
