BBC News - Austria's Innsbruck airport denies 110 Britons entry over new Covid rules
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-59808620
Is this a case of Austria bring vindictive against the UK (as was suggested when France changed the rules of entry) or justified?
Are the Brits being singled out by countries in the EU?
Or is it simply good management to try and slow down and control the spread of Covid? |

I think most on the other thread came to the conclusion that it was to help slow the spread of covid. Sadly for France judging by some of the figures it may have been a bit late and cost them financially. Having said that if it saved one life then worth it. |

What a load of bollocks! They were ("probably", as the article says) refused entry because they hadn't complied with the rules for travel to and from the UK, nothing to do with being Brit.
We're here after having had to do a fit-to-fly test in France within 24 hours of leaving France, and we'll have to do another one in the UK within 24 hours of flying out.
Simples! |

Turns out the new rules weren’t sent out in a timely manner so some people fell fowl and sent home. Others got through with local testing . Not sure how they decided who got which approach. |

"Not sure how they decided who got which approach"
Those who failed or passed "The Attitude Test"?
Seriously though, we flew out from Marseille on Sunday 19 or whatever it was afternoon, on Friday we went to our local Pharmacie 'cos gov.uk said we needed to test within 48 hours of departure time. The Pharmacist queried whether or not it was only 24 hours, and to be sure we should have it done the next day, i.e. Saturday.
This we did, but behind us in the queue was a girl whose test was less than 48 hours old but over 24 and she was stopped; only allowed to board when she'd done a "quickie" lateral flow test which, although not "official", was accepted by Security.
Of course, at Stansted nothing and nobody was checked - other than passports - and I doubt the Mickey Mouse Border Patrols even have the App to read EU Digital Covid Pass QR codes |

It’s looking a bit shambolic everywhere it seems . I bet there’s some fortunes being made in all these countries though . Not just ours |

'Unvaccinated US travellers to quarantine for 10 days in France under new measures
Unvaccinated arrivals in France from the US will have to self-isolate for 10 days under supervision from local authorities in line with new government restrictions that come into force today.
All passengers from the US are now required to provide a negative COVID-19 test – a PCR or an antigen test – no older than 48 hours in addition to proof of vaccination before boarding a flight to France.
Unvaccinated travellers from the US previously had to self-quarantine without supervision for seven days.
The new rules have come into force as COVID-19 cases in France surpassed 200,000 for four consecutive days due to the highly contagious Omicron variant.
French authorities also are stepping up pressure on unvaccinated residents, with the government pushing parliament to pass a law in the coming weeks that would allow only vaccinated residents to enter restaurants, cinemas, theatres, museums, and sports arenas.'
Seems that they hate the Americans too !!!? |
