Is it looking to start yet another fucking stupid war? This time with a potential enemy that's a lot more formidable than a bunch of tribesmen?
China
Russia
Iran
Or all of them simultaneously? |

Looking at that list
China is taking over big chunks of the Pacific by occupying islands.
Russia has issues with the Ukraine and sees it as an untrusted rebel state.
Iran is using its military and political power to destabilise the middle east.
China has the capacity to hurt the US navy carriers ( ballistic missiles designed to take out carriers ).
Iran is happy enough just stirring the pot.
Russia could if it wanted roll into Ukraine, but that would risk a long running campaign in which they get bogged down and risk a wider conflict.

Does Russia have any other option if Ukraine threaten to join NATO. Only option is to invade? |

It can turn the gas off and use insurgents to destabilise.

The biggest and most immediate threat to the U.K. interests, is not in the pacific - it is in Ukraine.
Russia could legitimately Annexe Eastern Ukraine in the same way that it annexed Crimea because of the largely (but not wholly) Russian support by the local populace.
Similarly, Russia has historical claims to vast areas of the Black Sea but which Turkey also assumes historical claims.
This is potentially a very nasty situation and I see this as Russia massing forces on the border to see what the West does and it’d it does nothing, Putin will see that as a green light to annexe Eastern Ukraine.
What might follow from that is anyone’s guess. |

What I'm not comfortable with is American foreign policy, and the danger of pushing Russia too far. In particular, expanding nato. Putin has said its crossing a red line, and Joe Biden said he ignores red lines.
American foreign policy has Benn terrible, certainly in the past 20 odd years and caused the deaths of millions

"Where does the great global Britain come into all this "
Who?
Never heard of it.
Don't forget Putin parading all his shiny new advanced weapons every year. Just like any kid with new toys, he'll be desperate to try one to see if they work.
Sometimes I think the only reason he hasn't, is which way the wind carrying the 'fall out' is blowing.
Satellite buzzing through the endless night
Exclusive to moonshots and world title fights
Jesus Christ imagine what it must be earning
Who is the strongest
Who is the best
Who holds the aces
The East
Or the West
This is the crap our children are learning
But oh, oh, oh, the tide is turning
The tide is turning
Oh, oh, oh, the tide is turning
