I don't think any country would be perfect of his mind in declare war to Russia , sometimes ibthink we still living with the myth of the old wars in the past where USA , England mostly as the super power. We are in other times and i do believe we wouldn't have minimum chance against Russia . I think most the times we underestimate Russia , at all levels |

It’s threatening another nation who suffered terribly under Soviet occupation.
It’s partially our business as the Ukraine wants to join NATO.
Russia meddled in the US elections leading to Trump becoming president.
They’ve murdered several people in the U.K. by hideous means.
But of course let’s be all coy and try to be nice.

"We wouldn't stand a chance if Russia starts."
Britain on its own wouldn't, NATO as a whole would give them enough of a kicking to stop them in their tracks, then it would come down to who blinks first with nuclear weapons... |

We only get 5% of our gas from Russia. If they take Norway we could have a problem. |

They currently have military stationed at the boarder and have wanted Ukraine for a long time. Access to the Black Sea is very useful for them
But still. Come on, where these good stories? |

Russia said it had started regular winter military drills in its southern military district, parts of which border Ukraine, and that 10,000 troops had relocated to training grounds across the huge area. Its ally Belarus has also announced joint military drills with Russia on the Ukrainian border. Reuters |

It is a shiet weapons grade chemical though it hardly works. Russians lying again on what they have just like the 1000's of nukes they did not have during the nuclear arms race. |

"Why should we be worried about a military that cant really project its power more than a 1000ish miles?
You need to update your Google maps then check the distance from Moscow to Damascus."
Thats different. They could never do that on a large scale. Thats why they rotate units in and out as Syria is just used as training and testing for the Ratnik program. A Russian general even said "its cheaper to send troops to Syria, than it is to hold training operations here"
The Russian doctrine and purpose of its Military is mainly defense of its borders and small pushes to annex territory. The USA on the hand is a Military that is built for global power projection on a massive scale if needed. |

What has Georgia and Chechnya got to do with Russias ability to project power across the world? They are both pretty close to Russia, one is in Russia lol. Thats not at distance lol, those are border conflicts. Plus they both went horrifically for Russia and showed them not to be an effective modern military force. |

Your premise was that Russia cannot project power. You are the onetrying to draw comparisons between the US and Russia.
Ratnik is an evolution, not a revolution. Network connectivity is an aim of all serious military players.
AK 12 the same, and it's been found to have serious flaws and requires more work and investment.
If you want to see where Russian intent lies you need to look at its development and plans for the Armata.
It's got a carrier in service and plans to have more.
It's air force has global reach.
It has allies and bases around the world.
Don't underestimate their capacity and desire to be a global player again. |

Russia can not project power consistently outside its borders. Its Air corp for example has nowhere near the amount of aircraft or logistics personnel compared to the US while having a similar sized force
Ratnik is not just Networking. Its everything from new Helmets like the 6b47 which has NVG mounts ect on.. (even though the protection is only as good as US helmets from the 90's) Ratnik is modernisation. But most of it is only coming up to a standard the west has had since the 2000's ish
The T-14 Armata is a paper tiger. As there is only like 20 pre production models that have finished testing. What has having a new MBT got to do with projecting power across the globe?
Ak-12 has/is being rolled out now. It was picked up in 2017.
The Admiral Kuznetsov is not a "pure" aircraft carrier like the US Nimitz class (US has whole classes of carriers while Russia has one single boat operational) Plus the Nimitz class have unlimited range due to being nuclear
The Admiral Kuznetsov is also set up alot more for defensive action with large amounts of anti shipping and air missles. Which they give space to on the boat instead of planes.. For example a Nimitz can hold up to 130 F/A-18 Hornets, but normally around 90 fixed wing aircraft. The Russian "carrier" holds around 26 Flankers

Yes and it was poor. Which is why Russia has implemented Ratnik and the move to the AK-12 andd a more professional force
Are you really trying to compare Russia with the US's abilty to turn up with a Carrier group or with Aviation that can touch you anywhere in the world?
Your premise was that Russia cannot project power. You are the onetrying to draw comparisons between the US and Russia.
Ratnik is an evolution, not a revolution. Network connectivity is an aim of all serious military players.
AK 12 the same, and it's been found to have serious flaws and requires more work and investment.
If you want to see where Russian intent lies you need to look at its development and plans for the Armata.
It's got a carrier in service and plans to have more.
It's air force has global reach.
It has allies and bases around the world.
Don't underestimate their capacity and desire to be a global player again.there desire is there but there capability is decades away "
They have enough capacity to inflict major pain across the globe.
They are also very good at asymmetric warfare.

"Why should we be worried about a military that cant really project its power more than a 1000ish miles?
You need to update your Google maps then check the distance from Moscow to Damascus.
They can’t inflict pain across the globe and defend there country they have one old carrier and there aconamy can’t sustain it either
Yes the people of the Chechen republic said the Russians couldn't mount an operation at distance, as did Georgia.
What has Georgia and Chechnya got to do with Russias ability to project power across the world? They are both pretty close to Russia, one is in Russia lol. Thats not at distance lol, those are border conflicts. Plus they both went horrifically for Russia and showed them not to be an effective modern military force.
Both the Chechen and Georgian wars demonstrate the Russian capacity to wage all arms wars
