The end of Matt Hancock?

Amongst the tons of fetid corruption stories that the Government is currently wallowing in, one story may have been forgotten about.
Remember when Matt Hancock was accused of giving his Publican mate a £40,000,000 contract despite him and his Company (Hinpack) having no prior history of supplying PPE? So Hancock vehemently denied it and called it a Labour smear. Conservative tacticians leaked all the companies that were given contracts at the time and sure enough - no Hinpack.
But a certain journalist didn’t let go and the truth is probably even worse now for Hancock. A contract was supplied to a Company called Alpha Laboratories and under an FOI request the journalist got hold of the contract and it said that Alpha Laboratories agree to sub contract the work to (REDACTED).
So the journalist carried on and a whistleblower leaked him the original contract where the redacted space actually says Hinpack.
So firstly Hancock denied the deal and called it a sinister smear, thinking that he had covered all his tracks for the perfect cover up. Thanks to a whistleblower the cover up and the corruption is now in the open.
What a fucking slime ball.
(It’s been published first today by the good law project - but it will surely receive wider coverage as the day goes on. Unless of course nobody cares anymore about corrupt practices by government officials). |

"He's not a very good journalist!
The London Economic reported about Hinpack back in July, and the involvement of said pub landlord. "
Yes we all remember that and Hancock subsequently absolutely refuted the story calling it a sinister lie.

But seriously...WTAF is even going to happen as a result. This Govt have normalised corruption to such a point that most people don’t seem to care any more! These people have stolen our money and now have the cheek to bleat on about the budget deficit and how we all need to pay more taxes to plug the gap. A gap made infinitely worse by the multi-billion theft of our money!
And people will STILL vote for them!!!!!!
How can that be? |

The UK needed PPE during a world wide pandemic and a world wide shortage of PPE.
I don't care how we got it everyone needed it.
If you are that concerned about money spent by government's, why don't you question how much money Tony Blair has cost the UK on an illegal war and still costing the UK now.! |

Tory voters literally do not give a fuck how corrupt the government is. They will vote for them no matter what.

A large chunk of the PPE bought was unusable. It was unusable because the correct procurement processes were ignored.
Legitimate suppliers from the UK were shut out as they didn't have mates "on the inside".
The government said it had provided billions of pieces of PPE, however to do that it used the slight of hand that 1 pair of gloves equals two items of PPE.
Tony Blair hasn't been PM for some 15 years. This is all on BoZo Johnson. |

I can't see how legitimate UK suppliers of PPE were shut out as you described? Last year there was a huge PPE shortage, so either they didn't have the stock to supply, were very busy anyway or didn't want to be involved in Government contracts. |

This was covered in I think a despatches or panorama program.
The companies concerned weren't put on the fast track procurement processes, or applied and weren't got back to.
Their levels of stock were never tested.
They wanted the contracts.
The whole thing stinks.

There are extracts from Hansard all over social media stating exactly what Hancock said only yesterday in the HoC.
Normalising that kind of blatant lying because you think you have covered your tracks is beyond shameful. |

If you knew anything at all about surgical gloves you would know that they do not come in pairs.
The box is labeled as 100 items.
The glove itself fits either hand.
So don't spread that leftie bollox about you buy them as pairs because that is a complete lie. |

Fuck me the hoops some people will jump through to justify the THEFT of £billions of our money because it was undertaken by the blue gang. Imagine the outcry if it had been the red gang!
Do some research and stop trying to defend this bunch of corrupt criminals!
Nothing NOTHING justifies contracts being awarded to companies with no track record, recently incorporated with no assets of trading history, based in offshore tax havens. Nothing!
Seriously all the people who fail to see what has happened here, please send me your bank account details and credit cards as you can trust me too!
Unreal.

They're ambidextrous then, not "lefties".
But what you appear to be saying is that it was rubbish that 1 pair was counted as 2. And that 1 item (a box) is counted as 100. That's even worse. |

I don't need to as they are sold worldwide as a single item that fits either hand.

Try doing barrier nursing with a single glove.
You can use either your left or right hand if that helps |

I have been thinking about this for a while actually and I have an opinion as to what is going on.
Firstly, I think that Brexit has damaged democracy. Irrespective of the outcome what it did was create a tendency for people to become entrenched in a position that once set, they became deaf and blind to a contrary view. Secondly, you have the culture war that the Conservatives and other right-wing groups have been very keen to pursue, and this has lead again to entrenched positions on perceptions of patriotism and nationalism.
Right now if you are a Brexit voter who has also been sucked into the anti-woke culture war, your ally is Boris Johnson and your enemy is everyone who opposes Boris Johnson.
This kind of entrenchment is actually very bad for this country because it is making the pool of the influential floating voters smaller, and smaller. We actually NEED a large pool of floating voters as they are the ones who tend to decide which way an election goes based on their perception of the policies and personalities of the day. Entrenchment simply makes people deaf and blind to anything that exists outside of their echo chamber and in the long term that will be bad for Britain. |

The truth of the matter is that the large pool of floating voters decided at the last GE to vote Conservative.
Unfortunately this don't suit your narrative but that's what happened.
Come the next GE this may or may not happen again but we will just have to wait and see. |

The current holders of the office of the UK government and the official opposition are deliberately creating an illusion of disfunction, corruption and confusion for the electorate ready for the GE, more people in 2019 did not vote than who voted for the party who took office.
I'll put money on it that, that figure will be higher the next GE. |

For me, it's not the spending, but where it went (tory chums) and their bank accounts rather than legitimate sensible contract considerations for the benefit of taxpayers
