Devil's advocate: there is a lot of talk about positive role models... Assuming Dr Who is a positive role model, does that mean boys do have fewer role models nowadays?
I'd imagine the argument is there are a disproportionate amount or male role models ... But a reduction may still feel negative to a young man

that's fair (and I agree). What I struggle with then is why is anyone looking to change 007 to anything other than a white male. (Dr who I can kinda get given he changes in the story).

I’d disagree with that, for some young boys growing up there are no “real” male roles readily available that they access easily. |

But i would argue that boys are naturally more likely look up to male role models and girls look up to female ones though. In general atleast

Weirdly, women weren't turning to crime when Dr Who was a man.
007 was a black woman in the last film. She wasn't James Bond. The role is not the same as the person.
