The EU was created by a completely new treaty (Maastrcht) which the UK people did not have a vote on. Unlike Italy, Ireland, France and Denmark (twice) who gave their citizens a vote on it. That isn’t the EUs fault, you should blame the governments in charge, also from 1993 the country has the option of voting in UKIP who were anti EU and promised a referendum, very few people were interested " If I remember correctly, ukip polled circa 10-17% between EU and general elections. So it's perfectly acceptable to go back and vote again. BTW is your mp a Whig or a Liberal? Fo you really think the conservatives will rejoin the EU ? We don’t and to get back in Labour would have to win a General Election which is laughable We won’t join the EU or even try for at least a decade, why didn’t the likes of Farage and the ERG ‘move on’ and ‘accept the result’ when we were in the EU? Brexit is a disaster, there are no positives, hence why you can’t list them , how long do we have to wait? We voted to leave over 5 years ago I agree it’s been shit iv said so lots of times we didn’t leave 5 years ago so you can put that to bed you know it’s early days in the grand scheme of things it probably won’t change Mitch until bj goes fingers crossed he’s gone by end of year like you predicted lol" Ha, that we can agree with, it’s a sad state of affairs that Boris was the best candidate from the Brexit supporting MPs to lead us during the negotiations, the options must have been piss poor

"We are out of the EU the argument is over But we shouldn't give up and let Brexit ruin the country. Surely people should still aspire to something less shit.can you say what you plan to do then if your not giving up ? Are you asking because you genuinely don't know what people can do to effect the country, or because you are making a point?im asking because lots of people keep saying the same as you but don’t actually do anything " Well, personally, I don't think rejoining the EU is the answer. 1. Much of the damage done is irreversible 2. As you pointed out above, people still think brexit is a good idea. Despite reality. But things you can do. You can support businesses that align with your values. You can avoid businesses that don't. You can learn about the issues we face, vote accordingly. Lobby your local council, and your MP. You can take up many forms of political activism. It's an uphill battle for sure. The right wing media and government are extremely well funded and are not interested in upsetting their control. But changes do happen. I would prefer to have the mindset that things can be done, positive change can happen. Over the mindset that Britain has lost, we're all fucked, we should all give up and bow down to our overlords, accept the shit we're given. Etc.

We don’t and to get back in Labour would have to win a General Election which is laughable We won’t join the EU or even try for at least a decade, why didn’t the likes of Farage and the ERG ‘move on’ and ‘accept the result’ when we were in the EU? I am not disputing the vote, I am complaining about the shit show that is Brexit, it is a disaster, we voted to leave in 2016 Why did you bring up the ERG and Farage then? Because they were moaning , crying and complaining when we were in the EU But you said your post is about after Brexit not before it so why bring them up. Plus you seem to do a lot of moaning now. "We are out of the EU the argument is over nope, it's not the brexitters, all 57 of them wined from day 1 when we were in the EU, when to use your argument "we were in the EU the argument is over" Then they got an influx of cash and resurrected the argument. Can you explain what you mean by this. The UK never had a vote to join the EU in the first place? We had a vote to remain in the European Communities (which became the EU) in 1975 , The UK had a vote to remain in the EEC in 1975. The EU was created by a completely new treaty (Maastrcht) which the UK people did not have a vote on. Unlike Italy, Ireland, France and Denmark (twice) who gave their citizens a vote on it. That isn’t the EUs fault, you should blame the governments in charge, also from 1993 the country has the option of voting in UKIP who were anti EU and promised a referendum, very few people were interested Then the country had a vote in 2016 and voted to leave the EU. "We've lost out on another lock down and the law to make vaccines compulsory, Austria got them damn boris! Unrelated to the absolute disaster that brexit is to British people.so how as brexit been a disaster for you personally then ?" What? Weirdest question I've been asked in a long time. Have a look at what's going on in the country. Brexit impacts all of us. It's well worth looking into. But I'll answer. The same as everyone else. The impact on the economy, rising cost of living, etc etc. Specifically also work related problems, the business I work for has faced increased costs and loss of revenue. Same as many British businesses. I dunno, are you aware of brexit? There is a lot out there about the impact it has on the UK. Well worth reading up on, even if it is grim.

"It seems people of both sides are unable or unwilling to accept the reality of where we are. By all means campaign against Brexit and how bad you might believe it to be but at the same time, make the best of the situation...many are doing so " What are the "sides"? I see them as British people on one side. And those who paid for and profit from brexit on the other. But yeah, have to make the best of the situation. Even if it's a self inflicted shit situation.

"As I have posted before my business is doing better now than it has ever done in the last 30 yrs, the outlook for uk sales is increasing all the while as our economy continues to pick up whilst I can assure you that is not the case for us with orders from Europe, they are definitely behind. I hear what you say about the cost of living but this is the same in just about every industrialised country in the world at this time, my suppliers and costumers abroad have and do talk about this all the while so the increased cost is not just related to brexit, the pandemic is the main driving factor in that one. I am sorry if things are going shit for you but they aren't for everyone, my employees are very happy, there job security is better than ever and they have had a decent pay rise earlier in the year and a good Xmas bonus is soon going to be on the way to them soon aswell." glad to hear so it’s not everyone then just him lol

They couldn't say how long it would take to get a courier company to deliver, the taxes hit as well. So we had to order in advance, like 4 months in advance. As a result a significant number died whilst awaiting planting. So there's one impact. Company tried to recruit niche staff, normally we can dip into Europe. Can't do that now as not assured of getting a work permit. One of the companies we buy in from, same Key materials more expensive and harder to source. So there you go. Immediate impacts.

I hear what you say about the cost of living but this is the same in just about every industrialised country in the world at this time, my suppliers and costumers abroad have and do talk about this all the while so the increased cost is not just related to brexit, the pandemic is the main driving factor in that one. I am sorry if things are going shit for you but they aren't for everyone, my employees are very happy, there job security is better than ever and they have had a decent pay rise earlier in the year and a good Xmas bonus is soon going to be on the way to them soon aswell.glad to hear so it’s not everyone then just him lol" Not just me. Last I checked there wasn't a global shortage of laurel bushes, which aren't transported in shipping containers. When the supplier in Holland was pressed they said drivers don't want to deliver to the UK as they used to. So we would have to wait until some that would do it become available. Sorry my misunderstanding, I thought that your company manufactured something, no i doubt there is a shortage of bushes either lol. I can say we have had no issue with any our suppliers from Europe really though, some things are taking a bit longer from order to dispatch but my suppliers tell me this due to there staff levels being a issue from covid. This is also my main problem, we have had a average rate of absence of over 10% this year, pre covid this rate was historically less than 3%, the cost of sickness/ isolation and paying overtime to try and keep to our order deadlines has cost us more than anything which we can blame solely on brexit as a business, our figures tell the facts. I voted remain so I am just saying how it has been and is for us, I am sorry you are having issues though.

Still. It's pretty funny that 18% think it's a good idea!
"Well, the Independant is known globally for its financial and economic experts isn't it? Covid-19's impact clearly can't be as bad as Brexit... In case tone doesn't come across, we were being sarcastic. It's known for reporting what economic think tanks and academic studies say. It's not known for saying "hurrah for the Blackshirts" or hating on immigrants." This isn't a 'which tabloid rag is better' question. This is a 'gee why is the UK so knackered' question. Well, it is funny how the whole world seems to be having shortages, unrest, and crisis's all at the same time....Anyone would think something had happened on a global scale wouldn't they? Could it be a global Pandemic perhaps, or the fuel price increases that are also affecting the whole world?

" I've said it before, covid has been a god send for Brexitters, it's masked the utter failings of brexit and allowed them to ( brexit standard tactic number 1 ) blame someone else.
