"never mind life expectancy, never mind cancer outcomes. Look at wage growth,"

Some of Johnson's recent words when interviewed. That's how much he cares about the NHS and our lives.

"Yawn. Remainers again isnt this more about left v right than remain v leave ?"

No. The Remainers try to drag everything back to the EU.

Furthermore, left and right have become very confused in recent years as the so-called left cheers on bad bosses, cheap labour and sneers at pay rises. They have switched sides and are now the enemies of working people.

That too is linked to their Remain obsessions.

You think and speak of little else!

But it is very revealing how the so-called left now backs bosses against workers

Why is that?

yet you raised this !

Brexit cut across left and right as in some ways the EU is left leaning (WTD etc) in other ways not. It also has a wider lens... In a way FoM is levelling up ... It's just in this case the UK is the equivalent of London in the domestic version. And people tend to vote what benefits them rather than from pure principals.

It's interesting that the labour are looking at higher minimu wages just as the Tories are using cheap resources to dig the country out if a hole.

Also interesting that labour are pro-Eu freedom of movement which forces wages down...then they say they want wages to rise!

Do you believe them?

raising taxes in a way that negatively affects the lowest paid whilst simultaneously cutting in and out of work benefits at a time of widening stagnation of the economy coupled with rapid inflation is a political own goal that has just lost the tory government any gains they made in so called red wall constituencies. now with huge discontent in the tory heartlands over huge shortages of fuel, goods etc., their forthcomming gerrymander geographic politics may just come back to haunt them.

Why not strengthen the position of workers in the labour market? Far more effective, proven to work historically and allows for wages to adjust downwards as well as upwards

Increase the minimum wage for ‘all’ problem solved, employers won’t be able to ‘impost foreign cheap labour’ anymore

this is clearly advocating unionisation and the control of the means of production by workers which is a very interesting shift towards marxist ideology from the more usual far right contingent on fab.

,, ,,, the best Johnson can hope for is that the media don't mention his words in future interviews , , Andrew Marr failed to mention this at all this morning ,,

I saw the interview, the interviewer kept cutting in with random quotes off topic and Johnson was basically keeping on topic

I don't think anybody brought Brexit into this topic at all until you did.

It'd be just like those pesky remainers, though, to object to such a callous comment by Johnson. How dare these hpothtical people care about life and death?

Isn't there a direct link between wage growth and inflation and also poverty ?

This was in the Marr interview. Where Marr also used the ONS data to show that there is not actually any true wage increase anyway.

It's purely because we have lost so many workers at the lower end of the scale, the current average wage is now dragged higher by dint of the higher outliers.

It will probably drop down again once the driver, hospitality etc. areas fill some of those job places.

Johnson was not happy when it was pointed out to him there was no real terms wage increase, especially as that was based on official government figures.

(Side note: it was a nice change to actually see Marr confronting a Tory properly for a change.)
