Should We Join America In Future Wars?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Bearing in mind we've been involved in wars declared illegal by the UN and also paid a heavy price in lives and money and learning the hard way, the cost of blindly following American foreign policy and joining wars?

I personally think we should leave America to go it alone in future, like we did with harold wilson who kept us out of Vietnam.

I left the army as a medic a long time ago, and scenes like whats beeen on the news just opens up old wounds.

Yes we should indeed join America in future wars, we are strong allies. I would also expect them to help us out too with any future wars that require help. Then I would fully expect them to make movies about how it was all them!

Probably not the best time to praise British foreign policy, what with the unfolding clusterfuck in Afghanistan.

Probably not. If they want to fight the Chinese over Taiwan, they're more than capable of doing it on their own.

If we get involved, we'll get our new aircraft carriers sunk - and they cost a fucking fortune.

It's an interesting anomaly, that a country as militarily powerful as the USA - which only picks fights with far less powerful nations - keeps fucking up and losing.

Anyone would think they only do it to increase the wealth of those with shares in their "military-industrial complex" and provide highly skilled jobs building their kit - and (mostly) low skilled users to test it out on foreigners with barely adequate defences against it.

Make you wonder how the USA's economy would be if it spent less on defence and more on health care and education.

They can afford to cut defence spending if they want. Let's face it - who the fuck in their right mind is going to attack the USA? What reason could they possibly have?

Nope, you're just misrepresenting what I said. Nowhere did I exonerate the USA from the fucked siituation in Afghanistan. They're even more to blame than us.

Unfortunately, with our ever reducing military size, we need to be allied with a larger force for the situation where we need help. Yes, in an ideal world there should be no need, but the world is most definitely not ideal, kindness is taken for weakness and friendly hands get bitten.

That’s going to be the next thing, sending aid to an already fucked country

I would hope they decide on each case, potential war on its situation. Not easy to say that's it we are never going to help again. Should we have stayed out of Bosnia for instance

Given the abysmal and pathological approach to foreign policy and the way they think of force to solve everything? Aren't they becoming the problem?
