I can understand that they don't want the Taliban getting their hands on the money.
However, if the USA wants Afghanistan to become an even more failed state than it is; not releasing the money is one way to go about it.
It would be interesting to hear - particularly from a devoutly Christian Republican - how he (or she) thinks such a move will help the women of Afghanistan and their innocent children; by punishing them for the faults of their men.
Certainly, it's not what Jesus would do; is it?
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

The Taliban are under sanctions from the US Goverment, so its not an unsurprising move.
Funds have also been cut off by the IMF.
The Taliban may be in power but they will find it hard to govern under these restrictions. Lack of hard currency will lead to severe inflationary pressures. |

Well im not sure about Afghanistan, but the psychopaths always sanction countries... From
Cuba to Iran, which always starves the ordinary people.
I just hope the taliban allow humanitarian aid in.

Indeed. To be fair, it's not much of a choice. Make things worse by withholding the money; or make things worse by giving them the money.
Of course, it's only a dilemma for America. China props up N. Korea; maybe it could do the same for Afghanistan? After all, it's no more bound by international law than the USA is. |
