Has issue panic about everything left of exhausted?

If you read some form of news over the years, there is always some big issue which needs addressing, as time goes by, it goes on and on.

So the question is this, does these panics make us less senstive to the issue, therefore making us apathetic and tired, so much so we just switch off and ignore it?

I think part of human nature likes to ignore issues (see the beggar on the street) but part loves the big gossip (see the news).
