Funny how there are some that want to split the GB and NI up into different nations when you have some in the EU like guy vernhofstadt who want to fly a eu flag at the Olympics and say they should be top of the medal table. |

What he really said seems very true to me.
"Many English people feel left behind by metropolitan elites in London and the South East, and by devolved governments and strengthened regional identities in Scotland and Wales.
"Their heartfelt cry to be heard is often disregarded, wilfully misunderstood or patronised as backwardly xenophobic."
"What we need is an expansive vision of what it means to be English as part of the UK. This will help us rediscover a national unity more fractured than I have ever known it in my lifetime,"

Given the Queen is British, it is a reasonable question to ask. For the Olympics & F1 fair enough play it, but for football and the Commonwealth games why not choose something specifically English? |

I'd say England should keep god save the Queen and Britain gets a new one.
I can't imagine many Welsh, Scottish or Irish have a strong affinity to GSTQ. |

Well she isn’t technically Queen of England, so it should be England that come up with a new tune. Maybe England could have a referendum on the choice of anew one? |
