I agree with this. It's not so much the confusion really as it is the keeping tabs on those amber holidaymakers when the come back. I mean, why stress the system when it can just be Red or Green.
I'm also in favour of nobody going on holiday abroad this season anyway.

Because there the current system is perfectly clear presumably.
Didnt they completely contradict themselves last week? |

" On Andrew Marr this morning Nick Thomas Symonds shadow home secretary wants all amber list countries put on the red list because he thinks people cant understand it. "
It’s not rocket science really but people will always play the no understandy card to try and get around the rules.
Amber means don’t go unless it’s an emergency or maybe business, holidays are not necessary so if you travel to an amber country don’t moan if it turns red and you cop for the enforced hotel stay when returning

As a test a few days ago we picked an amber and a green destination and the rules are simple to understand. |

People are doing it though. I listened to a woman with her family going on holiday to an amber and the interviewer asked if they really should be going. Her answer was that they deserved a holiday. When she was asked about isolation coming back she said 'We'll see.' |

This was kind of the point labour still dont seem to have got the message that the British people are not stupid and trying to treat them as so will not work. The other point is i thought they were for the working people, someone who is rich has no problem paying for hotel quarantine on return but someone who lost a relative for instance would then have to take a loan out to cover the cost. This does not seem like a policy for working class people. |

"Obvs the quote from the travel agent saying it was too confusing.. didnt actually happen" Of course it happened i doubt they made it up ,so is it confusing because a travel agent told you it was or can you genuinely not understand the traffic light system?

The Travel Agent is in the wrong job if it's too confusing for them then. I wouldn't travel with them if they were.
But actually I think they were making the general point that 'Nobody would benefit from a confused system'.
Least of all travel agents.
But I will ask again Lionel - Do you think that the rules are confusing?

red = take a test before retuning and 10 days quarentine in a gov approved hotel.
amber = take a test on or before day 2 self quarentine for 10 days and pay for a test on day 8.
green = take a test on or before day 2
as i said its really not rocket science the gov advice is dont go to red or amber countries but if you have to these are the rules on return . |

I've seen all aspects of the travel industry pushing foreign travel last week.
They seem to want to push the rules to the limit.
The advice is quite clear on the Goverment website. I'm sure it won't be long before we see people being caught outside of quarantine. |

You and your shadow have just stated there is no confusion and the thread is a dig at labour for questioning it.
You said me and the labour party where the only people confused.

Blimey how is this confusing? Of course if the media say only go to red and amber if emergency, health or business and quarantine on return it's very easy to understand they have to find another story, if they say its confusing they can then fill loads of air time instead of looking at a proper story.
Usual suspects are trying to find an issue though |

Oh Daley
I'll type this once.
Just for you.
In order for you to not rather desperately ask me over and over again.
You started a thread ripping into labour for not understanding the guidelines.
I have since posted 4 separate links showing the confusion was quite widespread.Numerous other news outlets also ran with the story
I even quoted a tory mp who contradicted his own party.
So to sum up,yet another thread to try and rip into labour, when once again its yet another fuck up by the lying buffon, has backfired somewhat.
And your rather desperate attempt to turn this thread about me ,are in vain I'm afraid as not once have I said I dont understand.
Better luck next time

I don’t think it’s a Labour thing I think the people travelling from the U.K. to an amber country for a holiday should be stopped.
We moan about people arriving with the likes of the Indian variant and then fly off to other countries risked higher than green and should only be visited in an emergency, for a jolly risking our own and our friends health.
Seems a bit stupid to me ! Not sure if the government are more stupid allowing it or those going saying they deserve a trip after enduring lockdown. This pandemic isn’t over yet but suspect the odds look good so they say it’s worth the risk to sit by the pool. Hmmm really??? |

Just a point
The holiday companies are well aware that people are booking family holidays so why isn’t that being addressed. They are contributing to the confusion by taking Mum dad and the two kids to the sunshine for an emergency holiday.

"Why has Dehenna Davison tory mp
Said people visiting amber list countries
Can be fined for going on jollies ?" maybe because you are reading daily mirror headlines and not the whole thing.
ravellers can, however, be fined if they lie about their quarantine details when they get home to the UK, as Ms Davison also said.
Amber list travellers who fail to isolate on return for up to 10 days in their home also face a hefty fine.
I think i now see the problem ,its not the guidelines its people just reading headlines and not the whole article maybe some should tell the shadow home secretary that. |

ravellers can, however, be fined if they lie about their quarantine details when they get home to the UK, as Ms Davison also said.
Amber list travellers who fail to isolate on return for up to 10 days in their home also face a hefty fine.
I think i now see the problem ,its not the guidelines its people just reading headlines and not the whole article maybe some should tell the shadow home secretary that. "
I didnt read any headlines
I heard her say it directly

" On Andrew Marr this morning Nick Thomas Symonds shadow home secretary wants all amber list countries put on the red list because he thinks people cant understand it. "
Countries with far better Covid outcomes than ours seem to have a handle on this.
You either can travel, or you can’t.
Amber (a U.K. idea) is pointless. |

"Why has Dehenna Davison tory mp
Said people visiting amber list countries
Can be fined for going on jollies ?" . Surely the answer is self explanatory. You simply satisfy the criteria for visiting an Amber list country and adhere to the rules. Failure to adhere to the self isolation rules on return could result in a fine . The government intend to do about 10000 checks per day.
The rules seem very clear to me . I need to travel to a country on the Amber list but have decided not to as I do not want to self isolate |

"Anyone claiming confusion over the traffic light travel system really needs to avoid docks, ports, airports like the fekin plauge for the rest of their fooking lives "
Maybe the mixing of red amber & green list passengers
In 1 space & mixing had something to do with it .
Probably why heathrow has opened terminal 3 .
So it can seperate Red list arrivals from amber & Green list .
But not until the 1st of june

This is a problem when Goverment expects people to use their common sense, and to obey the restrictions to the letter.

I personally don't think the rules are confusing at all. However, why not justvhave red and green?
The inclusion of Amber allows people to try to push that line and we all know if there is a line people will push it.
Green - you can go
Red - you can't go
No one would then be able to say its 'confusing' |

This is a problem when Goverment expects people to use their common sense, and to obey the restrictions to the letter.
They don't and they won't.
I personally don't think the rules are confusing at all. However, why not justvhave red and green?
The inclusion of Amber allows people to try to push that line and we all know if there is a line people will push it.
Green - you can go
Red - you can't go
No one would then be able to say its 'confusing'Maybe because we don't have an authoritarian government but one that doesn't want to make rules at the expense of personal freedom for the sake of it.
I agree Costa. I'm just stating that its the only way to eliminate 'confusion'.
We all know people will play the 'confused' card at any opportunity, and the current set of rules allows that opportunity I agree but to be honest its the press creating its own news,if the gov said all amber are red they would be kicking up about that and asking why the likes of spain for instance are on the same list as india. So you either have an authoritarian gov or you dont personally i dont need to be told i will follow advice i guess some do.
Yeah I guess you're right. There will always be someone who has to have a whinge about something.
I feel it's got much worse this last year too. I struggle to cope with that more than actually following the guidelines some people need clear rules as you say otherwise they will bend them to suit themselves.Im happy to live in a country where if i cant sleep i can go for a walk along the seafront at midnight without getting hit with a massive fine for breaking a curfew or if something happened to a family member abroad im not banned from going but can make a judgement as to whether its necessary.
The point of the thread was that labour were just jumping on the press bandwagon and that they are not that stupid to believe the guidelines are confusing.
Surely the Press are just picking up the bandwagon .
Late to lockdown
Under an excuse about
Pakistan & Bangaldesh being red listed
But India with a score between the 2 wasnt on the Red list .
It just seems like the Tories hadnt
really though it through .
Or they were gambling that vaccine protection
was good enough to risk it .
But then they lock down later anyway .
The point of the thread was a ridiculous pop at labour and its backfired spectacularly
Never mind
Surely the point of the thread is whatever the OP says it is?
Costa has said he feels Labour are jumping on the bandwagon. Nothing has backfired because that's his opinion, doesn't necessarily mean he is right or wrong.
That's the whole point in fora. People can have opinions, others can disagree.
The op claimed only labour were confused
At the last count I've provided at least 6 separate sources contradicting this.
I've also provided a quote from a tory mp completely contradicting the gmnt.
Have you read the OP? If you have you’ll see that you're confused because it didn't say only Labour were confused.
My above comment still stands." No i said labour think people are confused his words not mine. |

My above comment still stands.
Another post further up says only me and the labour party were confused
There really should be beeping with the amount of back tracking on here.
I seen you say 'and I quote' but I can't see what you're quoting. Please help me out here Lionel, I actually wanna be on your side
I truly camt be bothered
The point of the thread is to rip into labour for saying people were confused
Even.the title of the thread states labour wants to put every country on the red list
Now somehow, its apparently nothing to do with labour.
I really cant be arsed arguing that black ismt white.
No one has said it's nothing to do with Labour. I said Costa didn't say it's only Labour.
Stop trying to read stuff that isn't there and read what people actually write, you may get a little more out of debates.
And I quote..only you and labour dont understand

Lionel why don't you just wait for the corner of the room that you have painted yourself into to dry.
Please consider carefully . . .
'Do not travel to Amber list countries'
If 'you' understand it - then everyone else must too. If they say that they don't then they must be trouble making or really struggle to understand most things.

"What other conclusion can you come to? just as a straw poll no one on here has said they find it confusing so why do the labour party or is it as i said they are just jumping on the media bandwagon?
Well surely the conclusion to come to it is this
We have Rules because we know not
everyone is a competent capable Human being .
Unfortunately we have to make clear rules for our
Slowest movers & thinkers
Is that the way you would like this country to go then and would you like it to apply to all walks of life?
It already does apply to all walks of life doesnt it ?
Some people can drive quite competently when they are
smashed out of there trees.on alcohol .
But Sarah couldnt & she killed someone
So now none of can do it
Cheers Sarah !!
Some People love to get out of there heads on
Drugs , But Steve did that & tyen stabbed some one &
Now none of us can do it
Cheers Steve !!!
I have just completely Lifted a Jim Jeffries routine for you
( Its the guns one if you want ot see it
Its really funny ).
No i dont think it does in the uk, how would you feel about going down the france route for instance locked up at home after 7 pm until 6 am ?i think they may have extended until 9 pm now.Spain was the same until recently too."
France only went into its 3rd Lockdown in april
As we were starting to come out of ours ..
Remember ours was pretty much a 24 hour thing
Except for exercise of course.
Still im sure you'll look for some place else to
say blah blah blah about .

Actually it’s not…. If you have been rolling it over.. as has been your right… whilst the uk legal advice has been do not travel.. you can get a refund or reboot with no penalty
As soon as a country becomes “amber” you lose that protection.. so if you decide not to travel, both travel companies and flight operators are under no obligation to refund or rebook you without penalty…. As those services are running within uk guidelines… the same rules will apply to travel insurance and various travel compensation schemes
There are your grey areas…..
Let’s play devils advocate
So for example….say You had been optimistic and had booked flights 6 months ago to travel to the us.. and it was supposed to go next week …. Because it’s amber you would now……. What? Fill in the blank for me…
Remember no guarantee of refund! change the date and pay a penalty! go but have no travel insurance! |
