"After the Diana revelations, where do they go from here? An inquiry?
"
An enquiry into the enquiry?
No. Everyone should join the Defund the BBC campaign and cancel their licence fee |

"Can anything else be done to bring people to account?
Not just Bashir, but others in senior positions at the time? "
Earl Spencer has asked Scotland Yard to investigate it as a criminal case
Cant wait to see what comes out about the cover up and how the BBC tried to refuse the freedom of information requests
I'm sure the British public is happy to see their licence fee being spent on enormous fines |

Been a lot of bitterness and fragility on the politics forum lately. Why’s it getting out of hand so much at the moment.
It’s going to be a right old shit storm when GB news comes online. With programmes like Wokewatch I expect both sides of our political divide to have daily apoplexy meltdowns.
Going to be so much fun |

They even had false bank statements and cheques made up to make Diana believe that members of her own household were being paid to spy on her
Seriously, what morally normal - or even morally average people would ever do that |

It is an appalling state of affairs - I agree.
If anything, right now in the existence of U.K. PLC, more than anything we absolutely need an impartial and independent “news” organisation.
My concern would be that politics might result in the politicisation of the BBC.” And no- one would benefit from that. |

The beeb has been dumbing down for a long time and becoming more investigative/ tabloid in its methodology. We ended up paying out lots of our licence fee money more recently in the Cliff Richard debacle. I no longer consider The BBC to set the benchmark in impartiality but instead to be just another Americanised fake news jobs for the boys quango. |

I just find it a bit odd that every time the bbc gets mentioned, his name gets brought up ,obvs as a stick to beat them.

Funny enough the fact that he was consistently put forward for a knighthood by a certain former pm is conveniently glossed over. Why was this former mp a clairvoyant ? he actually did raise over £40 million for charities obviously to hide the fact he was a peodo.
So you can slate the bbc for employing him...but excuse the former pm for wanting him knighted because he raised money for charity?no thats not what i said stop twisting things yet again and read what is said i really am getting fed up with pulling you on this.
the former mp whomever that was obviously didnt know what he was up to neither did the bbc when they employed him but unlike the mp the bbc found out and covered it up.Do you understand the difference now? as i cant put it any clearer.
The bbc found saville was a nonce and did nothing?Thats why they had to pay the compo. "

Here’s a link to the BBC ( ironic, I know!)
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-23355531
It includes this paragraph “
"There is no indication in the papers that anything was known then about the allegations that have subsequently come to light about Jimmy Savile. The honours process was followed in accordance with the system at the time."
So somehow you insist that the BBC hierarchy didn’t know but Maggie Thatcher did know! |

He had plenty of info on lots of powerful perverts .
The BBC Knew & told plenty about it .

Its funny that many in the NHS must have knew what he was upto but its just the bbc who 'covered 'it up.

But as usual this seems to have gone way off track with whataboutery once again, the bbc have been found out covering up the bashir scandal and my guess they did the same with him not the standards you would expect from the bbc on taxpayers money.
Really.. she was repeatedly warned about his behaviour yet consistently pushed for a knighthood..why is this ?
The topic veered off topic when it began to talk to reference jimmy saville.
Yet you only flag it up in reference to his knighthood.
Strange. So what are you trying to infer now? just come out and say.Yes it did because you chose to take it that way as usual.
Not inferring anyone.
Good old Maggie was warned about his behaviour and still pushed for a knighthood.
Nothing unusual about that.
A pm wanting to honour a suspected paedophile
Here’s a link to the BBC ( ironic, I know!)
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-23355531
It includes this paragraph “
"There is no indication in the papers that anything was known then about the allegations that have subsequently come to light about Jimmy Savile. The honours process was followed in accordance with the system at the time."
So somehow you insist that the BBC hierarchy didn’t know but Maggie Thatcher did know!
She was warned on several occasions
And try reading what I actually said
Always helps
I have read what you have written and more to the point, I understood!
So, I’ll ask again. If , according to you, Thatcher knew and the mandarins in Whitehall knew, do you really believe that the BBC hierarchy didn’t know?
I don't know.
I'll state again
One more time.. at the time, as I recall,it was widely suspected what he was upto. However he was seen as a very powerful figure and people were scared of him.
He wasnt a powerful figure
He was a pervert who knew perverts in government
He Knew high ranking perverts in Law system .
He had plenty of info on lots of powerful perverts .
The BBC Knew & told plenty about it .
However those in real power would not allow
The embarrassment of there organisations
Parliament & The Justice system to be embarrassed.
Much easier to leave him fester in the offices of the bbc.
Dont tell me they couldnt of had him bumped off .
People in Power liked Saville .
( only the devil would know why )
Hmm...he clearly had powerful friends so that made him virtually untouchable.
Its funny that many in the NHS must have knew what he was upto but its just the bbc who 'covered 'it up.
Strange that."
Its funny you should mention that .
Michael Salmon A paediatrician was Jailed for
Crimes on 3 teenage girls in 1990
He was re-arrested years later for crimes at the same place as Saville worked & at the same time .
If thats not ckear cut that the NHS knew & Plod knew
Then i dont know what is .
As weve said before Maggie Thatch loved Saville
Not sure the queenwas so keen on him .
But they all would have known .

Did you read the article or just the headline?

"The Cabinet Office said there was no indication in them that the prime minister or any officials knew about the allegations of sexual abuse and paedophilia against Savile - which emerged in full after his death in 2011."
the initial concern was . . .
"The heavily redacted papers show that Lady Thatcher first wrote to Sir Robert Armstrong, the most senior civil servant in the country at the time and chair of the honours committee, about the issue of a knighthood for Savile in 1983.
Sir Robert vetoed the idea, saying it was too soon after "unfortunate revelations" in which the entertainer had boasted to the media of having sex with women he met while running charity marathons."

They knew back in the 60s .
Savile's name was first mentioned in police records in 1964 with a ledger entry in the paedophile unit of London's Metropolitan Police Service, MPS .
You dont get a mention in the peado unit without being involved .
He knew . They knew he Knew others .
It was all kept hush hush . |

I camt be arsed losing the will to live again so I'll day this once.
You clearly implied I said Thatcher knew he was a paedophile
My exact words were she was warned about his behaviour and still petitioned for a knighthood (which he got unless I'm mistaken)
So if you and your little pal wanna invent stuff up I never said..try and make it plausible

We can all have a favourite opinion, a horse to beat, a we hate Boris, a we hate SKS. Or any other Celeb or politician. But when all said and done and until it's a historical fact it's really just a historical fantasy. And history won't give a shit about that fantasy - only the history will. |

Maybe there should be a Yellow Journalist of the year, or a Yellow Journalist of the Decade.

It would kind of help us keep focus on what actually is the truth and what isn't

Yellow journalism or the yellow press is a type of journalism that does not report much real news with facts. It uses shocking headlines that catch people's attention to sell more newspapers. Yellow journalism might include exaggerating facts or spreading rumors.
I hardly think my knowledge is anything other than correct .
No rumour was told oj the bbc interview between
Bashir & Diane .
A lie to help get her into an interview is correct.
As was the affair between Charles & Camilla .
No rumour with little fact there. |
