The answer is to have asylum application points in the countries they are coming from, eg the eu could set up some in Libya and turkey the uk could set up in France and anyone who enters the country without going through these points would immediately be sent back to where they left from.
Once the word got around these people would not be paying crooks their life savings to transport them. |

"Does priti still wanna stick them in the middle of the Atlantic?
Unfortunately some soft-arses objected to that plan.
Really?
Bloody do gooders..shall we just leave them in the sea?"
Do you read what you write? So you are saying that Patel wanted to leave them in the sea?
Oh and by the way - Do we beat our refugees? |

Farage and his supporters will be delighted when they read this news, if the stories are true they will be campaigning to rejoin the EU |

Migrants on a rock in the sea?
The EU is paying £43 million to keep thousands of African refugees on the Canary Islands.
Spain has taken the women and children but refuses to allow access to the mainland for the males.
NGOs describe it as a tragedy in the making.

"So. Patel didn't say leave them in the Sea then.
Good. Glad we now have the truth about that one. "
She wanted the navy to intercept them and block their passage. Where would that leave them but in the sea? I don't think she mentioned what would be done after that... so yes, the implication is she wanted to leave them in the sea.
Naturally the scheme was branded dangerous and illegal. |

The inevitable consequence of her plan would have been leaving refugees in the sea. |

She will fully endorse these ‘allegations’ directed at the EU, if these ‘stories’ were around before the referendum the UK would have definitely have voted to remain and Farage would have flipped sides |

Before any British person tries to play the "oh we're better than the EU in our treatment of refugees" card, go research some of the stuff that has happened in the Yarlswood detention centre for women. Come back when you are properly ashamed of being English. |

Because Farage and his supporters hate refugees (breaking point poster , etc) , the remain campaign could have made a similar poster showing refugees being beaten |

The EU doesn't beat them. Some EU states have been accused of beating them. Hyperbole aside, you do recognise that one of the things Farage and his supporters pushed for was a hard line stance on immigration and refugees? Hyperbole aside, that's exactly what these nations are accused of doing, to the point of shameful illegality.
Ironically the episode does undermine arguments that EU states are under the slavish command of the central administration. Britain always had plenty of leeway with regards to this and many other issues... but you wouldn't know it listening to some of the ludicrous claims of the right wing. |
