Your support of Brexit is admirable but global economics and global strategic alliances have made the UK’s membership of a large trading bloc more important now, than it was in the 1970’s when post-war economic realities triggered us joining the EEC then.
I think that there will be Brexit “win” stories presented in a way that anything but disaster, will be a success. There may also be good news stories as there will be bad news stories but focusing on individual issues, rather than the direction of travel will be pointless.
If you consider that if the people who have now been betrayed by Brexit had voted for their self interest and protected their livelihoods instead of voting for an intangible concept... Brexit would not have happened - and we are only 5 months into Brexit.
Fast forward 5 years as the poster above has said and it is fairly reasonable to assume that there may be quite a few more disgruntled people around. This again is why it seems like a fair bet that after five years or so, the Government, the people and the EU will probably have had enough of never ending Brexit related negotiations as the U.K. tries to protect its interests in the face of an overbearing and massively superior neighbour on the doorstep.
The next big timeline moment is when the U.K. decides to implement border controls on imports and/or if the next DUP Leader decides to be a gargantuan pain in the ass - whichever comes first.

If you refer back to my first 2 posts you will see I am sceptical about the claim. What I have said is its possible as you do not need to live in the area to work there. I have also given an example using my own situation. |

Really! I would be sceptical about that too. As you got me thinking about this I just checked out the population of the area I work and its around 5000. The company I work at and its 2 neighbours have more employees than that on their own. People travel in from all over |

she actually didn't say 180,000 jobs in Hartlepool though did she? he actual words were trade deals and jobs for Hartlepool along with a freeport and 180,000 jobs.The freeport covers a much larger area than Hartlepool and as usual on here people are twisting what was actually said. |

See even if SKS had sent that tweet I would have said it reads as 180 thousands jobs 'generally'.
As she does mention 'jobs in Hartlepool' just before she says 180 thousand jobs. Now in my English lessons at school I was taught that a mention of an item in the past in the same paragraph meant, for the reader, that it wasn't to be included in the present when mentioned again.
And she doesn't say they have 'built a Freeport' either. She says 'along with a Freeport. Which is entirely true.
So creative reporting and re-reporting all around I guess.

And as the elections are also being reported as being about the handling of the pandemic it seems it is also about nationwide issues.

I might also add - 'Governance of this country' includes all those at a local level too. A Labour Run Council will be run with differing political motivations that would a Conservative run council and vis-versa.

The last episode of Line of Duty was not actually a disappointment when we all know that Buckles had been threatened in prison. The media got so hyped at H / the fourth man being named that the ending was a perceived disappointment. But according to the storyline - this is obviously far from over.
Similarly, when the media are telling us incessantly what the local elections are about and they seem to suggest that they are a litmus test of current governance - it might not be a surprise if a lot of people started to believe it.
If voters aren’t as stupid as I infer - perhaps you could answer a question?
Why is the current Conservative Government still ahead in the polls when they are led by a pathological liar whose entire life has been a catalogue of untrustworthy behaviour?
I think that there can be only one reason and that is the same reason that the Republican Party in America has gained traction with some of the poorest, poorly educated and disadvantaged people in America. Identity politics in the form of Nationalism is enabling Conservative politicians here and in America to win votes from the lowest demographic groups by disguising their economic ideology behind Nationalism.
I don’t really give a shot whether you think that I should not be saying that a proportion of voters are stupid because they absolutely clearly and obviously are. You only get blinded by lies and Nationalist nonsense if you are stupid and only stupid people prefer three word slogans over competency. |

Population is 90k take out children, housewives/ husbands and pensioners so working population maybe 30k at a push. So 6 times that commute into the area for “newly created” jobs?? Oh dear is this £350 million on the bus maths?? |
