Seems like they've broken the law with how they did all that PPE purchasing, you know, the purchasing where there chums and spivs were raking it in at our expense.
Expect no resignations, prosecutions or anyone to take responsibility. Do expect a lot of diversionary tactics. |

No, they broke the law by not publishing details of contracts over £10k, which is required under Govermental transparency rules. |

"As I said in the other thread. How Matt Hancock is still in a job beggars belief. "
I don't think it matters. Tory voters either won't see this (no sign of this story in the Torygraph, for example), or simply won't care. |

It matters. We need an independent inquiry and if he's found guilty then he should be relieved of his duties. Actually sacking him as an MP isn't so easy.
However I would say not publishing isn't good enough. Especially as the only judgement so far is that he didn't publish within the timeframe. We need to know why they weren't published. |

I agree that it should be investigated, and whoever is at fault needs to be held accountable.
Won't happen though. |

There's no chance of a truly independent investigation. This government has lied on just about everything it's done. |

I agree it probably won't happen. It should though. It's pointless the court having made this ruling if there's nothing to follow. Either investigate or don't. Just don't making a judgement on part of something when it only scratches the surface. |

If he was to be sacked by Boris as with any other Minister, it's their ministerial jobs at stake not the Member of Parliament role.
If anyone was to be sacked by Boris due to incompetence during this pandemic, the with all the failings so far on a much higher scale we've had to endure along with no sackings then publishing documents late isn't going to be a silver bullet to anyone. |

Agreed. News outlets will report what give them viewers/readers.
Unfortunately the reality is that most people couldn't care less about politics |

Yes, in fact I wonder if HMG asked the Supreme Court to deliver this verdict at the same time as the Palace/meghanharry announcement - or maybe it was the other way around... |

this may end as a case of careful what you wish for.
sks has limited coice of action. complain loudly and nothing happens or let the government set precedents which labour can use themselves further down the line.
the government have already set precedents with jenricks corruption, patels bullying staff out of their job, unelected beaurocrats ordering the police to evict staff from the workplace etc etc etc.
taking into account that false equivalence is the new zeitgeist in society these precedents could be useful to labour later on |
