Liz is our leading international trade minister and you would have thought she would be itching to answer questions and tell us how great the EU trade deal is working out. It’s of course all running smoothly isn’t it?
Hmm. Seems she’s not keen on answering all the questions so has deleted a few awkward ones before her appearance in the house.
Good to seee more accountable government in action. |

You would have thought a gmnt which simply refuses to answer questions would get a smidgen of criticism? |

You seem to be making something that is parliamentary procedure into something to suit your agenda. |

"She is in charge of deals with the rest of the world and doing a fantasic job,the EU deal was done by the EU negotiators,David Frosts team, civil servants"
Really?
Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade
Principal responsibilities according to HMG.
1. “Leading” the UK’s role in championing free trade through securing new free trade agreements, developing a new UK global tariff policy, and reforming the World Trade Organization (WTO).
2. Upgrading the UK’s export performance by increasing the number of exporters and the value of exports.
3. Increasing the amount and value of foreign direct investment (FDI) into the UK.
4. “Overall responsibility” for the business of the department, including the running of the department and its finances.
Looks like she’s in charge to me. |

So you think the minister responsible for a department shouldn’t answer questions? Strange view you have on democracy but as long as you’re happy staying ignorant I’m fine with that.
It must stress you too much to think for yourself. |

It’s helpful to understand how normal parliamentary procedure works before commenting, don’t you agree? |

Understanding the abuse of Parliamentary procedure is most relevant in this case.
Whilst the Brexit issue is foremost in this case she has blatantly removed questions which are relevant to her position and should therefore not be deferred to another department.
Whilst she is allowed, just like Boris at PMQ’s not to answer, in both cases it’s examples of the government avoiding scrutiny which in my humble opinion is very bad for our democracy.

This government consistently avoids scrutiny. The next think you will see is walk in fridges being built inside the Palace of Westminster. |

So the minister for international trade can’t answer question on international trade. Bizarre.
Like all other ministers she has aides and researchers to prepare her so deflecting specific questions about the problems with Brexit seem to be just more hiding in the freezer.
The PM has disbanded the committee responsible for information relating to Brexit so there are no public forums to ask questions the cabinet are reluctant to answer.
Lie then play hide and seek seems to be the mantra of this government.

We have a pm who lies on an almost daily basis.
We have a pm who refuses to answer questions.
We have members of the gmnt who refuse to answer questions.
We have a gmnt who actively surpresses any criticism.
A big chunk of the population are quite happy for them to do this.

The reason we have a public chamber is for public debate . I wish to see the questions raised answered by the person responsible. To hide seems to be this governments preferred modus operandi .
The constant comment form the junior ministers which you suggest should answer will be we have helpline available which they do. The helpline just tell those poor suffering exporters yes you do have to pay and yes it is expensive and yes it’s not good for your business. Having a helpline is not answering or resolving a problem.
So I understand perfectly well what they are doing thanks . |

You’re repeating what we know on procedure it is the abuse of that procedure to avoid questions that may embarrass and undermine the message.
And what has the cabinet leading its own team got to do with dismantling the all party committee to oversee Brexit and ask questions of the government? I can answer for you if you’re struggling. To avoid open and public scrutiny.
Where’s the list of approved PPE suppliers?
Where the planned investigation on Russian interference in our referendums and elections?
Have we heard how the anti Muslim investigations going ?
Bad publicity is smothered to the point of imitating a banana republic?
Stifling open debate if it doesn’t fit the message is very undemocratic

Indeed they do Foxy but they should not be allowed to hide the truth being exposed. Otherwise they can say anything without recourse.

But let's just reject the truth for another whinge.
"
You answer your own Q as to why - because the normal procedure is to ask the Depart' concerned directly. For EVERY government past and present.
The second part is where Liz Truss is in relation to that Depart' (keep up).
Those questions are asked by subcommittees - Learn how your government works.
And please don't try to explain anything, Mme' didn't give birth to an idiot.

"Or maybe . . .
A DIT Spokesperson said: "All parliamentary questions are directed to the department best placed to respond. This is standard practice in Government and has been the case under successive governments.
"The Cabinet Office lead the Brexit Business Taskforce to support businesses with regards to the EU Trade Deal."
But let's just reject the truth for another whinge.

Did you actually read the posts .
There is no question of the process being allowed.
Liz truss spouts every tine a replica deal is rolled out and very keen to say how wonderful the deals are. She doesn’t delegate that even though she has probably very little knowledge on the detail.
As soon as anyone asks actually this doesn’t look right she’s running to the hills with her fingers in her ears saying la la la !!
You’re reiterating procedures of which there are many and varied doesn’t detract from her failing to answer Brexit related questions in the public chamber.
Defending politicians not answering to their actions is nothing to be pleased with or defend.
How you feel about your intelligence is purely your call and I certainly wouldn’t comment or question your mothers view! |

Yet another deflecting from the truth answer.
Questions are directed to the Department in Question. Always has and always will be.
Parliamentary Sub Committee will ask the questions with regard oversight.
Again - learn how your government works.

I’m beginning to think more about what your mother gave birth to!
Try reading the post and for you to say it’s a procedure that allows the avoidance of scrutiny shows you are clearly missing the whole point .
So my story isn’t false in any way it’s total fact that she is avoiding answering questions by hiding behind procedure excuses. What is false is your pretence to understand the basic point being discussed on this post.
But as long as you’re happy then feel free .
But when you don’t agree with something any government does remember to write to your MP. and then when they tell you the committee responsible for raising your point for scrutiny to ministers doesn’t exist anymore and a civil servant sends you a standard thank you but fuck off reply you will be fine with that.
But don’t worry I’m sure there will be a helpline. |

Let's just get this straight. The He in this profile never writes on these forums. Only the She (Me) does.
And as if somehow that should make a difference, and therefore would need no shock of realization or accompaniment of shock and awe.
Though I might quite frankly say that I'm the one who should be shocked. Sadly I'm just the one who is thinking 'just another day in the land of Misogyny'.

If I insulted cat I would agree but cat posted a comment about his mother (me) and I'm sure he's capable of defending himself and doesnt need to hide behind a feeble I'm.offended |

"My heads hurting
I'm assumed jackal was talking about me.
Why on earth would I call kat a man?"

His mother? And he’s
Did you mean to refer to Jackal?

Anyone seen the YouTube videos of Liz Truss talking about cheese and pork?
Doesn’t matter how many times I see them, always makes me chuckle.
Have I got News For You regularly bring them up any time Liz is mentioned on the programme

Neither have I.
Clearly I've got the wrong end of the stick so I'll apologise but I genuinley thought he was referring to me(as the post was replying to post about me)
I've argued with kat loads of times but I'd have no motive to call her by a different gender.
