He's off Twitter now, have to sign on to Stormfront to see what he's saying.

It will be interesting to see if the republicans try to return to normal politicians, or if they will let some other conspiracy theorist nut job take the driver's seat again.

I doubt Trump will start a new party. Would be an epic waste of money. Unless he thinks he can leech money from his devoted followers.

Personally I suspect he will be tied up in the courts for the next few years.

Stockport

The scenario is not good for the republicans because whatever he does will cause their voting base to split. If they keep backing trump, then they will lose the moderates - and more importantly, lose a lot of the corporate money.

He's certainly not going to stand down himself then put his support to other republicans, unless it's members of his own family standing. Basically trump doesn't give a fuck about the republican party as such, or any of the values they stand for, they have only ever just been a way for him to promote himself and his family. And he's not even that keen on his family, if he can't be the power.

If he starts his own party, that will just steal so much of the vote that it'll destroy the republicans.

Really, I cannot understand why the GOPs didn't convict him when they had a chance, their best route to regaining power in the shortest period possible would be to crush trump so hard that he loses his entire vote base. A plan that might have worked would be impeach & find guilty, then push some of the criminal cases forwards to get him into jail, revive the russian investigation and get him labelled as a traitor, use the opportunity to witch-hunt through the entire party and wipe out trumpism for good.

The only reason I can see for the republican senate still supporting him is that they are probably all up to the neck in the corruption themselves, and any properly conducted investigation would bring down not just trump but many of the top senators...

I think the dems played it perfectly.

Every time the Republicans bring up law and order now, they simply wont have a leg to stand on.

As for trump isnt he also going to be investigated for that Georgia telephone call isnt he?

1 of the many things I could never understand is,clearly, blatantly, he literally couldnt give a fuck about anyone else.He would happily have seen the country burn ,if it meant he got another 4 years.

Yet so many Americans buy into that.. he is doing it for us nonsense.

I hadn't heard of the bombing in '83 until a few weeks ago.

There will be alot more violence this year. Nothing changed the far right emboldened now. Kind of like the left did in the past.

When did the left storm the Capitol?

They just bombed it in 1983 is all guess that was ok . Violence in the 70s. It's a political cycle. Guess it's the far right turn.

1983? Did anyone die? What were they protesting about

You already know those answers don't you

I don’t

If you don't know, how did you know it was a 'protest bombing'?

I guessed, what else would it have been?

So because it's a left sided attack you automatically assume protest?"

Was it ?

"The scenario is not good for the republicans because whatever he does will cause their voting base to split.

When a bomb is involved, the question is how many died? Not, did anyone die? Unless you already know the answer of course . This is funny

You already know those answers don't you

I don’t

If you don't know, how did you know it was a 'protest bombing'?

I guessed, what else would it have been?

So because it's a left sided attack you automatically assume protest?

Was it ?

Supposedly yeah. Although most terrorist organisations are 'protesting' about something

Indeed they are

So what is the point in your questions? I'm genuinely surprised that you didn't know, you know all about the far right attacks.

It was a question, thanks for answering it

Is it ok because they were protesting against war in Lebanon?

No, it’s never ok to use bombs, where did I say it was?

So why the questions? It would be way quicker to Google.

BTW, as a side note, did you know that one of those convicted terrorists sits on the board of a BLM fundraising arm?

I didn’t know that, that is fascinating

It's all good though, there's really no such thing as a left wing terrorist "

Who told you that?

"The scenario is not good for the republicans because whatever he does will cause their voting base to split.

There will be alot more violence this year. Nothing changed the far right emboldened now. Kind of like the left did in the past.

When did the left storm the Capitol?

But everybody should be interested in every country around the World, after all we are one World.

Most countries affect their closest neighbours - some countries affect the whole World.

To pretend we live in isolation is the first mistake of fight club - the second mistake of fight club is to pretend there is no fight club.

Yea he has gone, what is your point ? I think you see my point but choose not to pot and kettle spring to mind.

Not at all, I am interested in Trump and what he tries to do next, I couldn’t care less about the EU

You care enough to comment on EU posts everyday

BTW, care to answer the question I asked you?"

What question? I haven’t commented directly on EU threads, my question is always why leave voters care , I am more concerned with Brexit and how it effects the UK

It's in the small print.

The Republican Party is becoming unelectable.

The main take aways from this entire situation is this:

1. The Republicans appear to be soft on Crime.

2. Instead of being a fully inclusive party they are being held captive by the far right and cannot regain the centre right.

3. There are many Republicans trying to become the new trump and courting him to make them appealing to his base.

4. They are losing corporate support considering they are supposed to be a party of business.

5. There is an internal civil war in the Republican Party between moderates and extremists.

6. Money is haemorrhaging from its coffers, which would be used to campaign for 2022

From the outside it looks like the Republicans are heading to the political wilderness.

They need a great deal of reflection on how they want to appeal to the electorate, because at this present time they ain’t going nowhere.

Until they can provide a way to

Do the trump fanatics still think the election was stolen?

lol. Most Americans believe that if you don't understand, it you should shoot it."

It’s really easy to dismiss a lot of Trumps supporters as fanatics and lunatics but I think people do that at their own peril. MAGA isn’t going anywhere that much is clear, and he still got over 75 million votes (largely on polling day). I also think after an embarrassing impeachment trial, as well as the Time Magazine article, theres going to be little in the diminishment of support for if it’s Trump, then MAGA as it’s own movement itself.

Why was the impeachment trial embarrassing?

No one thought it was going to get a conviction. The purpose was to highlight Republican hypocrisy.

I agree that Trump isn't a cause of, he's more of a symptom. And there is a genuine concern that another lunatic conspiracy theorist could come in and pick up where he left off. But that's more of a worry for the Republicans than it is for anyone else.

Because the double standards were exposed when the defence made their case. A 20 minute video of Dems telling people to ‘fight’ and claiming election rigging going back to 2001 exposed a lot of hypocrisy in their prosecution case. Came across as hysterical nonsense and a waste of time and money to me. I’m sure there’s plenty of Americans feel the same.

I don't remember anyone attacking the Congress on the instructions of the democrats in 2001. And it wasn't relevant to want happened with the recent attack.

In anycase, people will see what the want from the proceedings. The democrats had one reason to impeach trump. To score points against the republicans. Job done.

Well I disagree. It’s relevant when they’ve built a case on Trumps rhetoric and inflammatory language as the cause for the riot and their whole reason for impeachment. Especially given the summer riots. But his supporters won’t give a fuck, it’s just more fuel for the fire to them and yet more evidence that the Dems have ‘lost the plot’. They were caught doctoring their evidence too. It’s not a good look.

Fair enough. People can take what they want.

If they want to continue supporting Trump, this will have made zero difference to them. If they supported the Republicans or Democrats, I suspect it will make very little difference to them either.

And the undecided voters will have four years of bullshit to absorb between now and the next election. Or two years for their half term whatevers. So I don't think it will make much difference their either.

I have even less faith in their corporate driven system of government than ours.

I’m not your politics and current affairs teacher Lionel. Mayor Durkans support of the autonomous zone is a matter of record. It’s in the Guardian. I know you like the Guardian.

The accusation is rhetoric caused the Capitol Hill riot. The counter argument is why didn’t the ‘fiery rhetoric’ of democrats incite the rioting in the summer? Or previous violent disorders? Why does the accusation fit one side and not the other? This is my point - hypocrisy and hysteria when the boots on the other foot.

I’m not arguing with you, I just disagree with your perception of it all at its most base level.

Translation.. it never happened.

Because its pointless.

Each incident should be judged independently.

Trump should face the consequences of his actions.

Similarly if there are violent 'left wing 'protests thet should also be addressed

Saying..but what about..everytime the storming of the Capitol is brought up is utterly futile.

Mmmm no, she definitely supported the chop. I just refuse to get drawn into midwittery of ‘source?’ over and over. Look for yourself.

But generally I agree with your point. And all I want is consistency. Which were never going to get. But if Trump is guilty of inciting violence with his speech in DC, then so are the Dems for using the exact same language and rhetoric in the Summer. This is what I find ‘hysterical’.

Trump should face the consequences of his actions.

It might be futile, but it works. You see loads of people using it as a diversion tactic.

"Trying to overthrow a gmnt

A violent insurrection with armed protestors.

4 dead including A policeman killed

Headlines all around the world

All incited by the president

Hysterical nonsense.

Wow.

Just wow.

A summer of rioting

By a group already responsible for the murder of several police officers

27 dead in one Summer

Children shot by armed ‘security’ in autonomous zones set up by said group.

Democratic politicians and governors cheering it on.

Wow.

Just wow.

Can do this all day Lionel. Their arguments were hysterical and hypocritical. One rule for thee and another for me.

Can you also provide a link where Democrats have cheered kids being shot?

Cheers

He didnt just incite violent he wanted to see the democratic process completely undone and overthrow the election.

But he seems to be venting his spleen on the republics which hopefully will see them split in 2.

But he didn’t incite violence. That’s been proven in court

I think he still believes he has been legitimately cheated out of a second term. As I said in my first post in here the Time Magazine article hasn’t really done anything to help the Dems claim of legitimacy, or do anything to silence critics of the election process. Openly saying there was a ‘conspiracy’ by a ‘powerful cabal’ to ensure a ‘proper’ result for the election isn’t great optics. Neither is saying ‘in a way, Trump was right, there was a conspiracy at work’. Feeding the nutters.

It’ll be an interesting 4 years for sure.

Hah! "Proven in court", actually "proven" in the Senate, where the majority of them voted him guilty. In any case, it was all political.

Personally, I don't know he incited the riots, I think he created the atmosphere and situation that lead to the riot, and he absolutely egged them on. Not to say I don't think he contributed to the loss of life. But legally he would have had to be proved beyond doubt that this was his intention. I don't think he thought enough about what he was saying.

Anyway pointing at something else that happened in a different situation and claiming it's the exact same, isn't useful. It wasn't the exact same, democrats didn't say the same things, and hadn't created the situation themselves.

Apologies, yes, the senate. One of the key points of the defence was the doctoring of evidence by the prosecution, and pointing out that of it were an actual court, then it would’ve been thrown out immediately, with the prosecution likely punished by the court for it.

Im not saying all the events were exactly the same, but they were of a similar enough nature (with the political rhetoric and in the resultant violence especially) to be considered to be setting a precedent - especially if the prosecutions case hinges entirely on the presumption that Trump knew, or should have known, that his words would lead to violence. We might see it as whataboutery in a back and forth debate, but in law, precedence matters. I think in this instance, what was said previously does matter regardless, and I believe any criminal court would agree with me.

Yeah all fair.

I'm in favour of people being held accountable for the things they say and do. In the legal framework, even if it's a flawed framework.

I guess my point is that the latest impeachment was purely political, and played out as expected. The democrats achieved what they wanted to achieve. But my opinion is that it won't make any difference.

"The Republican Party is becoming unelectable.

Alot of democratic governors are swaying the vote the other way. 2 of the biggest election states. Not worried at all. Dead elderly are far more important than a attack on the Capitol. Incoming more lies from the other side "

Huh?
