You might want to keep an eye on the price of wine and the costs of spare parts for your car.

Interesting that you mention the cost of French cheese, but it's British cheese makers struggling

"yes buying goods from abroad harder

This is the biggest issue I've noticed so far in my daily life. We're probably not going to notice a big change until shops reopen after the current lockdown.

"Can I ask a question to both remoaners and brexiters has anything changed in your day to day life after brexit.not one thing "

So all the businesses losing money, going bust, jobs lost, extra red tape. And "not one thing" has improved for the people who voted for this.

Good hustle.

The OP opened with "remoaners", so we already know it's a pointless thread.

No change noticed for me. Work is good. Check weekly with those that deal with haulage and apart from the first few days its been fine. Not seen food price change though am sure the last figures for inflation said food prices had gone down. I think the big thing to come will be paying back for the furlough ect but it needed to be done

Manchester

Like most things industry will notice the pain and cost first .

Eventually a few months later it will lead to prise rises and less choice as some things don’t ship. Those supermarkets won’t swallow the cost forever.

All our spot hauliers held their prices until 31st March this year carrying over the same rates from 2020 until the full effect of Brexit was known. We are expecting hikes upwards from those who still come to the U.K.. The costs will be passed on to our customers and they will pass on to the public.

Demurrage due to diverts and delays is still rolling up into sizeable figures today so sadly no delays there.

We are taking the pain now but we will eventually pass that on one way or another.

To stop paying for those freeloaders in brussels mainly, the uk does not need another parliament a European court or mep,s all paid for by tax payers.

all these things we can do without and are not needed for a trade agreement they have gradually suckered to in to believing you do as the saying goes there are non so blind as those who will not see.

cant you see there is no need for a table? these people created it and had people like yourself believe that trade cannot happen without it.Its all an illusion created by a club to live the high life off your taxes.

It makes me laugh that people who hate the tories actually support a regime which that looks like it could have been designed by them.

I don't think many supported the Bennite view of retreating behind a tariff wall. A perspective that is based on a 1950's view of the world.

I agree with some of that. I don't especially like the EU, it's a mixed bag at best. I liked the protections it gave everyone in all the country's. These things were sensible.

The reality is, to trade freely with them, we need to abide by a lot of their rules. Like it or not. And we no longer have a say in those rules.

Not changed at all.

Haven't had one problem buying anything or getting anything delivered.

More concerned about the mid / long term economic effect of Covid (lockdowns, restrictions, etc) tbh.

Interesting you bring up covid.

The economy is mid covid pain, as we emerge from covid ( summer) further brexit related issues to emerge as "soft rules" become hard rules. On a plus point those with mega bucks probably immune from impacts.

Every country is suffering with covid. So while it's bad, we will all recover.

The impact of brexit is UK specific, and is not going away. This will be much harder for the country to recover from.

Apart from less tax being collected to be spent on public services NHS etc.

Small amount of extra steps at work. But no big deal.

I imagine the real problems for most people will come as we're hit with more austerity and cuts to public services.

You don't think the vast majority of people care about the job losses or people's companies closing, losing money?

Or about the forthcoming austerity?

And all for no benefits.

"Can I ask a question to both remoaners and brexiters has anything changed in your day to day life after brexit.nothing at all iv been saying for yrs the average person won’t notice we have left there was some very prominent remainers on here for yrs predicting food /medicine shortages flights grounded even troops on the streets but it’s early days so I’ll wait and see

Apart from all the people who've lost their jobs, had their businesses suffer or close.

Apart from less tax being collected to be spent on public services NHS etc.

And all for "nothing". I here what you're saying but as anything in your personal life changed jobs come and go so if not affecting you why care I see it as if the average person's life doesn't change then next election they will win again.

Nothing much yet.

Small amount of extra steps at work. But no big deal.

I imagine the real problems for most people will come as we're hit with more austerity and cuts to public services. agreed so you can see why the vast amount of people aren't bothered because nothing as changed I think after covid will be a better marker as to how things have changed.thats the big problem right now covid who knows how long this will last people’s lives have changed a lot more due to the pandemic than Brexit that’s for sure

Covid will go away at some point.

We'll be feeling the effects of brexit for the rest of our lifetimes."

like I keep saying how will you personally feel the effects for the rest of your life ?

Do you understand the long term effects to the economy and how that impacts all of us (except the very rich)?

We all rely on public services in one way or another. They were already under funded. We all rely on inflation remaining under control. We all rely on the job market to one extent or another. This is a long a subject.

Also, even if I haven't lost my job right away, aside from having empathy for people who have. So in my opinion, to suggest that if an individual person hasn't lost their job, then there is nothing to worry about is an incredibly narrow view that doesn't take into account the larger context of the situation that the whole country is in.

Ha. No, I proportion most of the blame on the people who promised you brexit would be a good thing for the country.

But why is the upside of a brexit a secret, that's what I want to know.

There are plenty of people here who love brexit despite everything. And yet we're not allowed to know why.

I said its noticeable a lot of prices have gone up but I'm not sure if that's totally down to Brexit or not.

Covid will go away at some point.

We'll be feeling the effects of brexit for the rest of our lifetimes.like I keep saying how will you personally feel the effects for the rest of your life ?

By the token ..how did being in the eu change your life on a day by day basis?it didn’t I said it before Lionel my day to day life asnt altered like most asnt has yours and be honest ?

So what was the point of brexit? If it makes no difference in brexiteers eyes. And there is a list as long as your arm of negative impacts.

What a waste of time and money. that’s your opinion your entitled to it mate do you want me to apolagize to you for voting leave again ?

Ha. No, I proportion most of the blame on the people who promised you brexit would be a good thing for the country.

But why is the upside of a brexit a secret, that's what I want to know.

There are plenty of people here who love brexit despite everything. And yet we're not allowed to know why. like I keep saying you want upsides to brexit 6 weeks in there maybe or maybe not upsides but not in 6 weeks In mate your an intelegent guy and you know you not going to see any just yet and in middle of worlds biggest pandemic yet you keep asking same questions every day "

Well I'm not expecting any upsides.

But people are. We were told "there is no downside to brexit".

Yet we haven't seen an inkling of an up side. No news of an inkling. No idea if there will ever be any news of a date when we might have the first inkling of an upside. Yet people still say brexit is great, and go bezerk at anyone that questions it.

Would just be nice to know why.

The chief executive of Next, Simon Wolfson, said recently that Covid had orders of magnitude more impact than Brexit ever could.

So how could you possibly expect to see Brexit benefits divorced from the reality of the Covid crisis?

So how could you possibly expect to see Brexit benefits divorced from the reality of the Covid crisis?"

I'd rather take my information regarding Brexit and other economic forecasts and impact studies from Government impact assessments, the ONS and groups such as The British Chambers of Commerce and not from a guy who gets the majority of his stock made and imported from Asian countries.

Do other countries count deaths in the same way?

We have 1 of the worst death rates in the world.

No amount of excuses or propaganda will detract from that.

Do other countries record deaths in the same way? Funnily enough, just for you, The Guardian claims it will be months, if not years before death rates can be compared. So take the propoganda up with them iv said that for a while aswell all countries should count the same way "

I agree, but people are stating that other countries are counting deaths differently, maybe they can tell me how and why?

And yet we're not allowed to know why. like I keep saying you want upsides to brexit 6 weeks in there maybe or maybe not upsides but not in 6 weeks In mate your an intelegent guy and you know you not going to see any just yet and in middle of worlds biggest pandemic yet you keep asking same questions every day

Would just be nice to know why. if your looking for a date I think something called covid as fucked that up fuck brexit it’s covid that’s screwing the world up right now we need to see where we are if and when this is over don’t ya think

Covid is obviously causing problems. But if brexit was supposed to be great, surely we'd still be getting some of these benefits?

The chief executive of Next, Simon Wolfson, said recently that Covid had orders of magnitude more impact than Brexit ever could.

So how could you possibly expect to see Brexit benefits divorced from the reality of the Covid crisis?

So brexit isn't as bad as a global pandemic that's killed millions.

Non stop winning. your other post you said covid is obviously causing problems fucking understatement of the year there mate it’s the biggest pandemic in anyone’s lifetime the world as almost stopped still to deal with it and all you want is upsides to brexit six weeks in lol what’s your key word empathy "

I'm not the one using the pandemic for a distraction tactic from the brexit clusterfuck.

The pandemic hasn't stopped the endless downsides of brexit.

Why has it stopped the upsides? What even are the upsides?

"Can I ask a question to both remoaners and brexiters has anything changed in your day to day life after brexit."

Cant really say anything has changed, company is up 7% on this time last year and we just took on another bloke in dispatch this week as we are so busy. Europe/EU is one of our smallest markets and has been declining over the last decade, the States and Aisa are our biggest markets and where all the growth is so I doubt brexit will have any effect on my company in fairness.

"Can I ask a question to both remoaners and brexiters has anything changed in your day to day life after brexit."

This hit my virtual doorstep yesterday ..

I compete in motorsport

The ACU just now issued a press release that explains how racing motorcycles being taken to European events now need a carnet to travel. And it's the opposite of cheap, check out the following section of the release:

"The Auto-Cycle Union has secured a special deal with the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) for ACU members of a fixed price processing/arrangement fee of £240+VAT. This is discounted from the standard fee of £330+VAT that non-members of the GBCC would pay.

Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce is appointed as part of a network of Chambers around the country to issue ATA Carnets.

The second part of the fee is the Premium. This can either be a refundable deposit of 40% of the vehicle’s value or a non-refundable insurance premium to cover the 40% proportion of the premium."

Our reading of that – yeah it's going to cost you £288 plus a refundable deposit of 40% of the bike's value (and for a new KTM you could be talking £4000!) or hopefully a fair deal on an insurance policy (from whom we don't know and at what cost). And jeez, if you're talking two bikes (like below) in the van, yep that's £576, plus £8000 please...

By the way if we or the ACU have got this wrong do please put us right! “

You seem to have some sort of issue with me suggesting you check. Maybe, just maybe someone was trying to help. I would suggest checking with Gov.uk who state that sports goods are exempt.

And I'm out.
