"It's advice, not necessarily suitable or sustainable for all businesses."
But necessary it seems to avoid the negative aspects, increased costs, delays etc that are clearly happening now..
They may settle of course but this is something else that should have been explained, probably ignored by those who knew in the cacophony of pointless clichés that are now coming back to haunt those who said them.. |

I would be very surprised if this was sold as a Brexit benifit or even talked about as UK firms are now having to lay off UK staff, opening up businesses in the EU and employing staff from the EU zone.
That would not have been a great selling point for getting out of the EU. |

I was vilified when I said we’re having to do this a few weeks ago. Called a troll and full of shit and my comment bullshit!! Funny now it’s full on news.
Btw the delays are still there at the unaccompanied ports and inland customs facilities. The big ro.ro ports are chocked with loaded trailers stuck due to customs issues.
I’m suspecting the bbc is too scared to report it. |

Instead of blaming other people for the consequences of Brexit, leavers should take full responsibility for this.
It’s their fault this has happened. Not anyone else’s. |

Yet another customs post being constructed for trucks in Gunston according to the daily Mail. Will hold 1200 trucks . Why so many if there are no delays?
In this link is a little idea of the queues that are about to get much worse. Each one of these guys is waiting for the U.K. governments seamless transit.
https://www.kentonline.co.uk/ashford/news/horrendous-queues-as-truckers-wait-for-brexit-paperwork-clearance-240726/
Remember this queue is after the process is completed and they are just diverted to these sites and are purely waiting for Customs to issue. This is our government causing delays not business. Bear in mind they are not allowed on the site until customs send them a text so there are others waiting on top of this too.
Gove said there are no queues at Dover or Folkestone. No they are spread over the country you deceitful tosser!
We’ve had this every day and frankly had enough. We are now pushing our international registration and will be moving at least some of our corporation tax out of the U.K. to one of our EU offices.
Our main trading platform will no longer be in the U.K.
well done Boris and Farage. |

Production and/or administration only moving to Eu?"
We had to move some production last year due to pressure from clients over Brexit but this time it’s admin and some divisions financial reporting. It’s not a choice we wanted but can’t afford to keep waiting for a better system from HMRC. They are ominously building a new lorry park at Munston and we’re hearing chief is struggling. After experimenting with small volumes for two weeks we pulled the plug on a few lanes and whilst we will still ship from the U.K. some of the business will be financially controlled from France or The Netherlands depending on port of entry. To get full financial benefit we will use the offices along with our other EU centres as trade centres. It’s just easier but sadly the tax on some profits will be lost from the the U.K.
it’s not a big slice of our business but it’s still going and it runs into large sums so does make a difference.
It’s only on loads that travel through more than one country. The direct country to country stuff whilst being delayed a little along with trailer shortages and costing on customs isn’t too much of an issue and we think will settle.

Your existing worldwide exports (non-Eu) dispatch from U.K.? Will this continue from U.K. or do you expect to shift those to export from Eu base?
Can’t help feeling that as the dust settles you may find yourself in an overly complex structure that is, or becomes more unwieldy than had it been allowed to settle - short term pain for long term gain .
Obviously don’t know classification of your product, which no doubt affects the ease of movement, but if you are already doing non-Eu exports you must be on top of other countries requirements for import to the customer country.

"
The existing offices act as sales centres in addition to trade anyway so it’s something we are trying to take advantage of rather than just a couple of new customs office posts! The structure is not that complex so we can deal with that.
We export from Austria, Belgium, Poland, and Italy along with hopefully Germany later this year so we will be reducing the U.K. operations over time. We already export non EU from Italy and Belgium.
We do know how to export worldwide and it’s much easier. . To give you an easy comparison if we export a load to Greece from the U.K. the container ship will call in Germany , Belgium , Spain, Italy, and then Greece. Whilst it calls at all these ports and countries the container doesn’t enter any country so that load doesn’t need a T1. The same principal is often followed by non EU exports worldwide so easy and cheap to administer.
The loads going through Dover Folkestone which transit more than one country are caught up in the HMRC nightmare T1 process which is costing us thousands in demurrage costs per week right now on restricted volumes. If we run at normal volumes on those routes the delay costs will easily exceed €10k per week.
We wont stomach that anymore. Once we heard the munston lorry park was being built we made the choice to register in two new countries and avoid the process completely.
You won’t hear a minister admit this but they have too few staff to deal with the problem so have manipulated the traffic to avoid the issue and total collapse of the system. Over the next few weeks the system will have to cope with much higher volumes so it will be an interesting test. I genuinely hope it doesn’t break down totally as that will fuck us all up.
I also know hauliers are refusing to come to the U.K. which is helping congestion but not helping U.K. exporters. |

There is blame, their narrow minded view is going to literally destroy our markets. Small business who cannot move out of the country will fold.

We had parcels stuck in the Germany and Italy, correctly labelled, customers complained. We looked at the tracking, told the customer where it was and to contact the shipping company asking why a correctly labelled parcel iaw EU requirements was being held. Next day parcel arrives. Typical EU incompetence. |
