it appears the row over publishing rights to news stories is escalating. google have threatened to cut australia off from using it's services. it reminds me of the finance industry holding new york city to ransom in the 70's. it appears that several companies feel that they are 'bigger' than developed nations. is this a good or bad thing? how should australia handle being extorted? would you care if google ended services in the uk? |

This is a government trying to exert their power over private organisations.
Personally for me. I'd say them if they stand their ground and pull out but they won't |

"I'm probably missing something here but how are Google publishing other people's articles? Are they taking them from behind a paywall and making them public?" I think they want google to pay the news agencies for using their content.
