President Biden new cabinet has a 54% ethnic proportion and also a large Irish element, totally different message from the previous administration, will this help to heal the deep divisions in American society, or possibly drive the divisions deeper,
From a Brexit point, how will the Irish control of the office affect the relationship between the new global Britain and the USA, |

Anyway we Irish are back in control, so you good ould boys remember, things have changed around here |

The major problem of American politics is that it is dominated by a duopoly of the Republicans and Democrats. - Yes there are a few independents
By effectively having a 2 party country this tends to invite divisions in society as you find yourself aligning with one side or the other.
There is an argument for having proportional representation in the Senate and House of Representatives. To break the dominance of a 2 party system.
Though I can’t see this ever being achieved. |

The answer is that it won’t.... however the big prize of a complete US EU free trade agreement will be higher up the priority scale than a us-uk agreement.... the uk need that agreement way more than the us does....
Commerce and labour being headed by Gina ramundo and Marty Walsh means you dodged a bullet that it wasn’t Bernie sanders at labour because his senate seat is too valuable
As long as the uk abide by this agreement and don’t piss about with the GFA, |

Interesting to see how johnson Biden get along since bojo and most of the Tory party sucked up to trump so much... |

It's a shame the uk left the EU as it slightly weakened Europe's hand but then again with Poland and some of the eastern countries being far better economically now thanks to joining the euro project I'd imagine Biden will be dealing with an equal heavyweight, as for the uk we are slipping into a desperately weak position and we would be easy meat for the yanks. |

Nobody said there isn't issues in the europe family, but Poland and Hungary have both benefited greatly from membership and both know their long term success is tied to a successful europe, in many ways the brexit horror show has galvanised europe in a positive way. |

"President Biden new cabinet has a 54% ethnic proportion and also a large Irish element, totally different message from the previous administration, will this help to heal the deep divisions in American society, or possibly drive the divisions deeper,
From a Brexit point, how will the Irish control of the office affect the relationship between the new global Britain and the USA, "
I’ll be honest, with Boris and his bunch of idiots in charge, I think the special relationship will be quite cool over the coming years.
The priority is the EU as they are one of the largest trading blocs which can be vital in its ongoing competition with China.
The UK will probably have to step in line with the US’s ambitions and play nicely with the EU to ensure it can get its feet under the table. |

"It's a shame the uk left the EU as it slightly weakened Europe's hand but then again with Poland and some of the eastern countries being far better economically now thanks to joining the euro project I'd imagine Biden will be dealing with an equal heavyweight, as for the uk we are slipping into a desperately weak position and we would be easy meat for the yanks.yeah that great powerhouse Poland wrecking the eu,s green deal and along with Hungary trying to wreck judicial reforms too a very united relationship.
Nobody said there isn't issues in the europe family, but Poland and Hungary have both benefited greatly from membership and both know their long term success is tied to a successful europe, in many ways the brexit horror show has galvanised europe in a positive way. That was the plan to make the divorce as messy as possible but as for galvanising the eu i think the eu vaccine rollout fiasco and the success of the uk so far is under minding that in quiet a few countries.
Success lol ? Wouldn't like to see failure You dont think the vaccine roll out is going well ?
We had the highest death rate in Europe it needs to.
There's 5 European countries ahead of us in terms of death rate.
Now I'm not saying were doing well but stating false information (on all sides of that debate) is part of the reason we are where we are.
I read last week our per rato is 2/3rds that of America
Ratio? As in per capita? Oh we're ahead of the USA on that one.
"
No worse..I cant remember the exact figures but apparently per capita we are doing worse than America now. |

We had the highest death rate in Europe it needs to. no we dont and it doesnt matter how many times you post that it doesnt make it true.Thats sorted now back to the question so you dont think the vaccine rollout is a success?
Did we not have the highest death rate in europe for most of last year ? most of europe is powering ahead now on the vacine front some are a bit ahead of others, the great thing about being in a club even the poorer countries get looked after too maybe a bit slower but they get looked after. While the damage from covid will be fixed I fear the brexit damage may send the uk into terminal decline. "
According to the indy today we are the worst in Europe.
The problem is figures and targets it's hard to take anything at fave value.
Remember all that bullshit about the testing figures when that started?
Hopefully the vaccine is now in the hands of the professionals |

By ahead, I meant worse. As in our figure is higher than the USA.

I don't agree we are the worst. Why have the highest toll but when measuring worst I'd rather take the per capita figure, in which case we're 6th worst. Anyway, that's definitely open to interpretation |

I think it’s interesting people are lauding Poland and Hungary....
That would be a very right wing Poland and an almost authoritarian Hungary....
Make of that what you will........... |
