Less that two weeks in and the government had approved the use of a pesticide that is banned in the EU because of its harmful effects on bees.
https://www.businessgreen.com/news/4025599/environmentally-regressive-uk-government-approves-bee-harming-pesticide-banned-eu
Bad news, and sets a president going forward. |

If you knew anything about this you would know the french allowed it to be used last year, it's a one year permission due to the enormous damage done to the sugar beet crop this season, trials will be done to see any affects.
If you actually know bee keepers most will say they sooner the neo nics used on OSR were allowed to control flea beetle rather than farmers having to use several sprays to control them, the FB is pretty immune to the spray which is broad spectrum which the seed treatment isnt.

Once a country starts on this deadly pesticide it's hard to go back, it's the easy way out.

I agree, if it sets a president we could end up with Trump!
Did you actually read the document? Or just the story put out by the greens?
As the previous poster said, limited time only and on one particular crop.

This is a tricky one i think, and possibly a bad example.
For the record i am a rejoiner, and really, really pissed off at the thought of the UK having no moderating influence on its tendency to fuck up the environment.
This approval is very limited to sugar beet, which don't flower. So the argument was that pollinators would not be harmed. Thats bullshit, but for readons too complex for here. (Google Dave Goulson Bees Neonids if you want accredited science on it)
The reason its a bad example is that we already had the power to grant a limited use of these neonids under eu law, and many other eu states have done so.
The difference now is that there is no one overseeing our use of such exemptions.
Some will see this as taking back control, persinally i trust zee germans and scandis a lot more than us on EP issues. |

Would that be the green germany that burns 44% of the coal used in the EU and has recently proudly announced they will phase it out in 2038, that's so much greener than the UK that announced it would stop by 2025 but in fact had virtually already done so and burnt none at all through the summer and autumn.
It's so good to see people are so anti uk, and anti fact |

Ah, such mental leaps. And immediate resort to insults.
Things i didnt say;
*We burn more coal than Germany
*Germany is a 'greener' country than the UK
*I dont like the Uk
*Germany has set different co2 targets
*personal insults
Things I did say (expanded for clarity)
*I trust German and Scandinavian politicians on Environmental Protection issues more than UK politicians.
If you had wanted to issue an intelligent challenge, you could have asked 'what evidence do you have for not trusting the UK politicians?'
But I suspect a rational debate wasn't your aim.
So I will leave it there |

What insult ?
You said you trusted Germany's politicians on environmental issues, burning coal in the amount they do and not banning it for many years is far more damaging than using neo nics on a very small average, even that will only be allowed when an assessment on the threshold risk has been made for this season. |

What's this anti UK stuff you're talking about, are you suggesting that anyone who talks about pesticides is anti UK? Seems like kind of bizarre stance. Do you want to explain what you mean?
I am not seeing any comparisons being made with the EU, if you want me to answer this, you'll have to be more specific. |

I know I'm getting old and I forget which thread I have already posted this on, but... All media has an agenda, whether pro Brexit/remain, pro/anti government, pro/anti green etc etc.
I read many different opinions from various sources, using that and life experiences I make up my own mind, not believing just what is written or read on the internet. I agree and disagree with many things, I may be opinionated, but it doesn't come by reading one article and posting it on a forum. |

Bad news, and sets a president going forward." You obviously only read headlines. This pesticide is being used on sugar beet as farmers are looking at 80% loses of crops. The pesticide is coated on the seeds while being planted and as sugar beet does not produce a flower anyway it has no effect on bees.
This is another classic example of eu directives using the one size fits all, where under certain circumstances they dont. |
