Personally, I would love to see trump his wife and his adult children forced to sit there through the whole event, and then trump have to stand up at the podium and shake Joe Bidens hand and congratulate Joe Biden as the 46 President of the United States, all on national tv in front of his followers and the whole world. That would absolutely crush him ; ) !
Oh well, at least the Congressional Historians have just labelled trump the Worst President in the History of the United States !
His fate in history is now sealed for all time ; ) ! |

In my honest humble opinion this one act by trump sums up his contempt and lack of respect for the position of President that he has held for the last 4 years.
Though there were other occasions in the 19th century when out going presidents did not attend the inauguration of their successor it's the first time since 1869.
It has become a tradition ..
Being a politician especially on the world stage requires diplomacy..
Since day 1 trump has no diplomacy at all...he is out for one person only and that is himself...
Refusing to attend endorses this and his contempt for the position if president.

was in a book i read along time ago that it was the case in early years of the constitution may have been an unwritten understanding know it was dropped very quickly . |

His legacy will be a presidency that is ending in a riot of division, discord and disgrace. Where he inhabited a alternate reality of lies, conspiracy fantasies alternative facts, narcissistic, childish and bullying behaviour.
If you want proof of this he is not even welcoming the new president and First Lady to the white house as done by previous presidents.
This legacy will take a long time to purge from the American psyche but in the end he will become a footnote in history and that’s all.
When you lose you are faced with two options
One is to shout and scream, curse the system and throw a toddler tantrum.
Or congratulate your opponent and walk out with your head held high choosing to be gracious in defeat.
One of these options only makes you look foolish and damages your reputation.
