"Anyone care to try and justify this?"

He got his peerage for his media and philanthropic work.

He owns the Independent and Evening Standard, that sponsor the annual Theatre Awards

To date, he has given approx 100 million dollars to charities, mainly preservation of wildlife and feeding vulnerable people.

He will sit as an Independent Lord.

He is a russian oligarch who is life long friend, a media mogul and was investigated as part of the russian investigation.

But he gives some dosh to charidee but doesmt like to talk about his.

Saying well everyone does it.

Is hardly much of a defence.

It's an anachronism

i didnt say i was defending anyone its how politics work the world over.example for you look into all the contracts obama handed out for green projects after being elected nearly all went to his backers. most of em had nothing to do with with any green industries and most follded in his first term.no doubt trump done the same for his cronies and biden will do same for his.and without a doubt if labour win another election there will be peerages fir there mates like last time.your looking at it from a point of view that we live in a fair and perfect world.sorry to burst your bubble we never have and never will people are cunts simple as that
