Jenrick carried on in his job, it was pretty high profile at the time. |

£3 each for 45million million face masks which cost 3-5p each. A bargain.
Some of the congestion at the container ports is due to PPE which has failed testing so the traders have abandoned and some is the fact that the traders aren’t set up as proper businesses so have no facilities to handle the containers.
If there’s no cronyism why is the list a secret?

"Mr Jenrick approved the Westferry Printworks scheme in east London (said to be worth £1bn) in January 2020. The minister overruled objections by Tower Hamlets Council over the lack of affordable housing and overall size of the 1,500-home development by Richard Desmond’s company Northern & Shell.
Following a public inquiry August 2019 – launched after the developer argued the process was taking too long – a government-appointed planning inspector recommended the development be turned down, agreeing with the council.
Only two weeks after Mr Jenrick stepped in to give the scheme the go-ahead, Electoral Commission records show that Mr Desmond personally gave £12,000 to the Conservatives."
From the Independent, there was also tape of him discussing it. |

A contract is awarded to a company who have no history of ppe.
The normal due diligence process is bypassed.
The company has a proven link to the gmnt.
The ppe is not fit for purpose and millions of pounds have been wasted
And you still want proof nothing dodgy has gone on?

And Jenrick rushed it through to save the developer £50 million.. |

Is corruption the only thing that such issues are worthy of condemnation?
Cronyism, looking after donors and associates who set up companies rather than use those with proven track records in the actual field of provision?
Gross incompetence?
Massive wastage of public money?

Unless the person putting the contracts out, or at least signing them off, is getting a personal gain, then you cannot say its corruption.
It can be labelled as financial incompetence or whatever term suits, but I wouldn't be expecting any prosecutions over this.
I'm sure that the due inquiries by the NAO, could well be damning but we'll wait for those to appear.
What bugs me more, is that if this PPE hasn't met standards, then we shouldn't be paying for it. And in normal business operations, no-one pays vast sums like that upfront. Payments are normally staggered and paid on satisfactory progress of the contract.
If the correct standards weren't issued, then that is a Civil Service matter. As is accepting faulty goods, and not having the recourse to reclaim monies paid. |

Have a look at the speech zarah sultana gave,to a select committee I think.
I remember reading somewhere there was some expedition if something was faulty, though I stand to be corrected on that
If this isnt corruption..I dont know what is. |
