EU fraud estimated €6Billion at 4% of EU budget you stated.
The 2017 NCA National Crime Agency figures below for the U.K.
Victims of fraud range across vulnerable individuals, major corporations, smaller businesses, as well as the public sector. The 2017 Annual Fraud Indicator estimates fraud losses to the UK at around £190 billion every year, with the private sector hit hardest losing around £140 billion. The public sector may be losing more than £40 billion and individuals around £7 billion.

As I said our government is losing to fraud at least £34Billion more than the EU. Kettle calling pot I think.
Interestingly the world bank estimates £450 Billion of tax avoidance by rich individuals and corporations is known of by the WBO. 65% of that avoidance is controlled through London institutions physically via London and the British Virgin Islands.
Who’s backing Brexit?????

Lol I think the lack of responses tells you that everyone has seen straight though your claims and realise that the 4 billion is JUST THE AMOUNT LOST TO FRAUD BY BRUSSELS.
Nothing to do with private sector fraud whatsoever, but I suspect you knew that. |

I was reading an article about the amount of dirty money which is getting laundered through London right now.
I'm assuming post Brexit it will be even higher

The post was just for you my friend ! That’s why there were no responses
I’ll do it in crayon next time !! Ha ha
Your claim on YOUR post was fraud in Brussels was 4% of the EU budget so 4% of the budget is just under £6 Billion
So Fraud in Brussels is £6 Billion . You keeping up?
Government fraud in the U.K. according to the U.K. NCA “ at least £40 Billion. So £34Billion more than the EU.
Total fraud in U.K. estimated by NCA at £170 Billion which is £25Billion more than the EU’s total budget .
It’s simple really
We lose so much more than they do.
Must be a hole in our wallet ! |

I think you answered your own question but maybe not as you expected. The London institutions as you label them are there as London is the world banking center. Well it has been for decades but has just been topped by New York which was second for decades.
Much of what you describe is money laundered through banks, which means it passed through banks all over, London to NY, through EU, Shanghai etc so to say it's fraud just through London isn't true.
It's got nothing to do with Brexit either, so your point is? |

One small detail you have overlooked in your argument is you're comparing the fraud in the EU budget and not fraud from the EU countries budgets with fraud in UK banks.
To make any comparisons you need to have like for like to be of any value.
However continue as you were... |

My point on fraud was in response to another post.
The tax avoidance through London figures are the world bank numbers .
£450 Billion ‘known’ legal tax avoidance of which they state 65% of which is funnelled through London. Unknown is exactly that!
The fact we are the main conduit for tax avoidance is interesting as the EU had plans to stop the practice in the EU and make all pay their due amounts .
If your interested party had over £200 billion to lose I’m sure they will pull every favour and lever to avoid paying that tax.
Some of those schemes involve the owner of the Daily Mail. But I’m sure he wouldn’t use his newspaper which has been reported so many times for failing standards as a rallying point for Brexit. That would be just too much of a coincidence wouldn’t it. |

You’re trying to compare two completely different things, as several people have told you.
Typical EU fraud in Bulgaria two months ago:
“The latest investigative report by EURACTIV Bulgaria journalist Valia Ahchieva has exposed fraud in the use of EU agricultural funds in the country, part of a widespread criminal scheme which she has flagged to the attention of the European Public Prosecutor Laura Kövesi.
In her TV documentary, produced for EURACTIV Bulgaria and TV channel TV+, Ahchieva revealed how hundreds of acres of agricultural land in the village of Dabovo are cultivated with soybeans, but only on paper.
As she visited the locations, it became clear that soybeans were scarce and that the land is overgrown with s. Nevertheless, the landowners have applied and received EU subsidies for cultivating organic soybean.”
Start a banking fraud thread if you want to discuss that instead. |

Last year, originally reported by the NYT:
“Under communism, farmers laboured in the fields that stretch for miles around this town west of Budapest, reaping wheat and corn for a government that had stolen their land.
Today, their children toil for new overlords, a group of oligarchs and political patrons who have annexed the land through opaque deals with the Hungarian government. They have created a modern twist on a feudal system, giving jobs and aid to the compliant and punishing the mutinous.
These land barons, as it turns out, are financed and emboldened by the European Union.
Every year, the 28-country bloc pays out $65bn (£50bn) in farm subsidies intended to support farmers around the continent and keep rural communities alive. But across Hungary and much of central and eastern Europe, the bulk goes to a connected and powerful few. The prime minister of the Czech Republic collected tens of millions of dollars in subsidies just last year. Subsidies have underwritten Mafia-style land grabs in Slovakia and Bulgaria.” |

I’m loving the Charles Dickens novel stuff it’s very I interesting and when it was found Sicily originally claimed in the 80s for olive orchards twice the size of Sicily that was fraud too.
At no point have I said there is no fraud there is and I’m sure it’s happening right now .
Look how much the House of Lords costs the U.K. and tell me we aren’t feudal. So not really in a position to look down on anyone.
You clearly stated 4% of the EU budget which I calculated to £6Billlion . Your figures remember .
The U.K. government loses £34 Billion more to fraud .
Going off in a general erratic rant about fraud will not cancel out the figures above or your statement.
But keep scrambling it’s like playing with one of those elasticated bat and balls

Anyway, you mentioned tax avoidance, how about this for Italy just last year, Bloomberg report:
“A radical plan to discourage cash payments and reduce runaway tax evasion has some Italians up in arms. With one of the highest tax rates in Europe, Italy lost 107.5 billion euros ($118.5 billion) to tax dodging and under-reporting in 2016. The country has an evasion rate of about 30%””
Which has nothing to do with EU fraud of course. |

I like the last sentence .
One of the main reasons Greece got into trouble was due to the fact no one paid tax as it was considered a sport to not pay it even amongst lawyers and doctors.
It was calculated that if everyone in Greece had actually paid just the correct rate they would have had a budget surplus and never needed bailing out by the Germans .
I think every country and most people hate paying tax but in the U.K. we’ve had governments, both labour and Tory who have encourage avoidance which can’t be right in anyone’s book.
We are in a huge amount of debt and those hiding their wealth should pay their fair share.
Most pay absolutely nothing.
