I believe that UK alignment with EU minimum standatds on rights, environment, food etc has already been agreed, and isn't an issue in the ongoing negotiations.

It doesnt have to be those things though does it ? it could be tax breaks for green efficiency, state aid for start up companies etc.

Why do you always look at everything negative? try looking at the positives now and then.

you really havnt been following brexit very closely, the eu wants the uk to sign up to follow their rules for ever. so when they decide in the future something is good for them and make a rule accordingly the uk has to do the same even if it would be detrimental to the uk.

"So they sign a deal with South Wales and then renege on it. I’m hearing delorean here, milk the govt for funds and then fuck off with the cocaine! Could it be they have lost faith in the welsh gov, didnt someone else pull out of wales the other day and went abroad instead?

Oh, you mean our favourite Brexiteer who promised to build a new British Landrover in the Uk and then fucked off to France! Properly doing the right thing for Britain... yeah thats the guy.

Is this what you want for Britain? Some will come some will go thats what makes the world go round.Im sure more will come when the uk deregulates and makes it more attractive after all isnt that what the eu is frightened off?

Is regulation bad?Depends who for.

Well surely regulation ensures things like food standards etc are met?

I believe that UK alignment with EU minimum standatds on rights, environment, food etc has already been agreed, and isn't an issue in the ongoing negotiations.

So why the point about the uk deregulation?you really havnt been following brexit very closely, the eu wants the uk to sign up to follow their rules for ever. so when they decide in the future something is good for them and make a rule accordingly the uk has to do the same even if it would be detrimental to the uk.

So I'll ask again.

Is regulation detrimental?read what i just posted.

You said there would be less regulation here.

You haven't said why this is a spiiffing idea?

yes i have it makes it more attractive to business mrs merkel said it herself today we cant have a g7 power on our doorstep who can sell goods cheaper or words to that effect.

So yet more hope than reality! "

Can't you just be happy about investment in the North Lionel or are you so bitter you just cant bring yourself to welcome some good news.!it’s great news for the north pity a northerner like Lionel doesn’t think so but I’m not suprised

Because my city is on its arse with the cuts imposed and have had to cut services to the bone.

So excuse me for not jumping up and down with excitement. "

Maybe you should ask your Labour Mayor if he could put the money back into the councils bank account.!

It doesnt have to be those things though does it ? it could be tax breaks for green efficiency, state aid for start up companies etc.

Why do you always look at everything negative? try looking at the positives now and then. "

Levelling up indeed

So on a thread about jobs in the North you post a link about councils in the South.

Can't you just be happy about investment in the North Lionel or are you so bitter you just cant bring yourself to welcome some good news.!

How exactly, will this replace Nissan?

How exactly will this undo the damage to the chemical industry?

Where are Nissan going?

They have made it very clear no deal means they are leaving

You might want to refer back to the Japanese ambassadors statement about investing in the UK post Brexit.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/amp/uk-england-tyne-55272689

Seems pretty clear cut to me

Still I'm sure the leavers will see an upside.

That statement was made in 2019 and since then they have committed to making more cars. You really should stop listening to BBC propoganda

From the Sunderland echo..9th december 2020 global chief operating ashwin gupta has repeated this is the case (no deal)

Obvs he is in cahoots with the bbc."

The same repackaged quotes - Nissan hasn’t made any new statements .

The jobs going to Blyth is positive. Crap for South Wales.

This is an evolutionary thing in the car industry. So expect job losses elsewhere as combustion engine production slows down. Sad but inevitable.

BMW are doubling their electric engine workforce in Germany but leaving it as just combustion engine production in the U.K. at Hams hall. As these engines will be banned in a few years time it’s not a good sign for the future of their investment in the U.K.

Tesla’s mega battery plant is being built near Berlin as closer to more car producers going forward.

We have to move to electric power but it will result in more job losses than gains sadly. Nothing to do with Brexit just technology reducing the workforce again.

We need to pour money into education to upgrade our workforce to adapt to modern technology or we will be left behind.

Personally I don't see it as simple as that.

What you are going to need is a skilled workforce.

So less youngsters going to uni and doing useless degrees and more apprenticeships in Technology, engineering and manufacturing.

Don't matter if you are in or out of Europe, if your young people are not highly educated you are fucked

The one place where the EU actually returned funds to contributering states was education, countries like Ireland greatly benefited from this policy, we now have the highest educated population in the world, the English did not take advantage of the opportunities for there people as they considered education the preserve of the elete, the clowns of the "Lower classes" are more than happy to comply with this narrative, so it is best for everyone in Europe that you Do your Brexit and FUCK OFF, and leave us grownups to get on with life

Whats your source for that?

The OECD give Canada as the top educated country, the UK is number 5 on their list, and Ireland doesn't even make the top 10.

Best education systems have Finland at the top, UK at number 7, and Ireland isn't even in the top 20!

You're full of 'real possiblities', using this as if it's going to happen without question. Speculation is what defines most of your spouting. You talk into the wind a lot.

I agree we need both school education to be better and to stream the talent into vocational and academic but both to get equal credit.

I agree the degrees in some universities to raise cash are a joke.

Of course it is that's why many voted to leave because the alternative was no longer a possibility.

But when said person is always negative even about future possibilities then it was good to leave the remoaners to their spouting.

I'm glad I voted out and listening to all the negativity against the decision has only reassured me that remaining would leave us continually going backwards.

As I've said before approach and attitude wins arguments and I don't think the remoaners have help their arguments in that respect.

I get why as no one likes to have been on the wrong side of the vote but really it be good to accept that there are already positives happening.

There isn't one Brexiteer who hasn't agreed there will be jobs lost, businesses go under and economic changes, the Bemoaners continue on with broken records, some true and quite a bit speculative, but the difference is Brexiteers aren't static people, maybe see a bigger picture far more optimistic and positive in their approach, and as jobs go others are created, as businesses go, others will pop up, investment is being put in place and will continue to be placed. Banks will continue to lend, businesses will grow and expand.

If it's going to be such a bad thing maybe you should have moved when you had the opportunity as you've left it a tad late now.

Lionel I'm guessing it wouldn't suit you to consider that the last 13 months hasn't had an effect on closing business that were already in decline and unwilling to move with the times, but of course it's brexit that has caused them to fold. Considering it's a pandemic and the world economies in general have gone into recession with your arguments we should be worse off than anyone with the apparent projected devastating consequences of brexit. I'd look forward to you explaining it all to brexit as your rhetoric displays.

Let's see who's the clutz.

On 5 live on sat night were 3 separate business leaders.

All 3 said they have struggled this year but have managed to hold on.

All 3 said Brexit, especially a no deal would tip them over the edge.

Someone put a link up yesterday about a haulier, who has saw the confusion over Brexit put his business in peril.

Have you heard the adverts about end of the transition period "Britain is leaving the EU" they mention opportunities on those too, so I challenge you to go to the website they reference and find a single opportunity :https://www.gov.uk/transition?utm_campaign=transition_p3g&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=seg&utm_content=ala_act0&gclid=CJPi_Mnxze0CFYnEGwodntcHbg

The central point you're all ignoring is there seems nothing you can do other than moan. However there are others like myself who are looking to new opportunities.

I probably have a more valid reason to moan than you as I lost mine and got no support from the government as self employed, yet I've moved on and restarted and opportunities are there to be taken if one wants them.

And within this statement is a fundamental brexit positive that the EU are currently so determined not to permit - I wonder why !
