I think now it looks like Biden will be president of the United States, it will make brexit much harder to succeed at. He is pro EU and proud of his Irish ancestry and consequently not pro rule brittania. May and her remoaners cost England greatly with their incompetence and dithering and now, the hill is steaper to climb. 77is a great age to be taking up such a stressful job. You would think he would want to enjoy his retirement.

It did!, guess we live with our consequences and accept that there will be no good trade deal with the USA now

Things are about to get very interesting. Domestically, Biden will have a challenging time in office but he'll have a lot more elbow room on the international stage.

A Home Among The Woodland Creatures

Ironically the withdrawal agreement which Theresa May accepted would not have caused the same issues for the US as the one she initially rejected - presumably because she knew it would cause problems for the GFA.

Unfortunately Boris in his wisdom decided to go back to the initial offering, either not knowing that it potentially contravened the GFA or not caring.

He made his bed - we have to lie in it

The degree to which the UK is utterly fucked won't change much, if at all.

A shit deal (Mays deal repackaged as Johnson's deal), is only slightly better than no deal.

We're arguing over degrees of shitness.

The only people who will benefit from brexit, are likely to benefit more from a no deal scenario. And those same people openly don't give a fuck about the people in the UK.

Trump to Biden offers no meaningful change in Brexit terms.

We still have our friends in the commonwealth like Australia and Canada and New Zealand etc.Ithink Ireland should be unified anyway, it makes sense, Northern Ireland voted to stay in the EU, and nationalist mps are the majority now. They should have a referendum , on it. Be united as one country, and bring hatred to a close, forever. They would probably be very successful together.

Yes we will have a referendum and be eventually united as is written into the GFA but that will happen naturally in about 10 20 years

But the people of northern ireland will not be thrown under the bus by uk or johnson just because they have gotten themselves in this mess

The terms of the GFA will be adhered too if uk like it or not

Let’s cheer up everyone. The brexiters now have one more scapegoat lined up: Biden.

When it all goes tits up it’ll be because of the remoaners, the EU, the British Supreme Court, the traitors in the tory party, Biden etc...

Popcorn is ready. I can’t wait for the denouement.

Okay so you're argument is that Brexit is going to plan for the ultra wealthy, so they don't have to pay taxes, can make a shit tonne of money currency trading. It's going to plan for US corporations that will be able to buy into the NHS, and start selling us produce which is currently illegal under EU safety standards.

And that the £200 billion cost to the UK economy in 2020 is only effecting ordinary people and small businesses?

In which case. I agree with you.

ONS say it is. We’re not ready and no chance of being ready. Software houses say not ready until after January. CDS customs system will therefore not work. Not enough customs capacity according to Heinz.

Food industry with 6 weeks to go have not been told of new rules on food standards or safety in regards to paperwork or inspections.

Imagine adding a text box in a computer software programme that links throughout your business and then to others outside your business. That takes a lot of IT hours.

Multiply that by millions of systems and business across the U.K. and you start to get an idea. Business is going to be blamed by the Tories for not being ready. Business doesn’t know the rules yet! How can they be blamed?

.

This is a fact - I still don’t know the full procedure for customs and HMRC can’t tell me. ( they don’t know) So we’re not able to plan procedures or software updates. Also we don’t know the full cost implications for us or our logistics suppliers. Gove says it’s like moving house. It’s more like building a house from scratch blindfold!

We are not going to ship a few weeks before December 31st in case the material arrives after January 1st so straddles the customs rules starting. So some business will stop completely early December. Some of the biggest exporters are asking the government what they can do about this problem?

NO ANSWER AS YET! We are asking daily. Of course it will be our fault we’ve had four years to get ready. Ready for what exactly!

very true, the USA tried to get the UK to fight in Vietnam, but Wilson said no way, good for him I say. Especially since they stabbed us in the back in the suez crisis. What is wrong with a small independent England? Let the UK split up, and each country go its own way, we want different things.

"When trump was president we were told its because of him that will only get a bad deal. Now Biden is in the same is being said. I would expect who ever is in power to negotiate in the interests of their own country. I hear he likes the EU but when it comes to a trade deal talks with them he will put America first

I think the argument was that when the lunatic was in power..because we had such a 'special relationship 'we were going to get a beneficial trade deal.

People genuinely believed this.

This has changed now.

You do understand the current US president is in charge until sometime in January 2021 don't you?

I'm only checking because you have shown on here numerous times that you don’t actually understand how things work.!"

Right so Brexit and all associated trade deals will do and done in 3 months time?

Do you want it to go tits up?

I suggest you Google "Brexit" and have a read up on what's going on.

Spoiler: it's going tits up.

No it's not

Okay so you're argument is that Brexit is going to plan for the ultra wealthy, so they don't have to pay taxes, can make a shit tonne of money currency trading. It's going to plan for US corporations that will be able to buy into the NHS, and start selling us produce which is currently illegal under EU safety standards.

And that the £200 billion cost to the UK economy in 2020 is only effecting ordinary people and small businesses?

In which case. I agree with you.

You are reading too much biased shite "

Is "biased shite" the new way for Brexiteers to describe information about the real world?

I preferred "project fear"

its not that biden isn't pro brexit, its the fact that biden is pro "not breaking international law on treaties like the good friday agreement!"

so now the uk government have a decision to make...... do they go back on the withdrawal agreement they signed

Ok for the last time today.

(I have no doubt it will be needed to explain it to you on another day!)

Br exit = Britain's exit.

That happen on 1st February 2020.

If you still don't understand have a look at the EU website and it will clearly show you the UK is no longer a member state.

Therefore the UK has left the EU. Brexit has happened.

Britain has and always will have a relationship with the USA no matter who the President is. Its a fact of life get over it.

Oh and as for being a Tory, sorry to disappoint you but I vote Labour when they have credible policies and leader.

Brexit will never be a success anyway. If Trump won, he would have cheated the UK anyway. The illusory hopes that this mess will be successful.

I still don't get why those who advocate Brexit cant see the irony of their repetitive moaning and yet call others with an equally valid counter position as moaners???

I still mainly hear Brexit supporters whine and moan whilst at the same time hear those who wanted to remain not moan at all but clearly articulate the many counterproductive attributes to not being an EU member ?

Yes I do.

So that we can rejoin soon and so that the arrogant brexiters who think that Britain is the centre of the universe can get a lesson in humility and a reality check.

Reality check for you.

The UK will not be rejoining the EU soon. And certainly not in your lifetime.

You don’t know what will happen in the next two months so you don’t know what will happen regarding us rejoining. What you and I think won’t make the slightest difference anyway.

What I can tell you is that before we join the EU in the 70s, this country was a walking disaster and that 45 years after we joined, things were going pretty well with us having the lowest unemployment rate in the EU.

Wait and see but it’s not looking great.

45 years ago the problems were down to the unions and the labour party and even so we were still the 5th largest economy in the world. Any success we have had since then has been down to the Tory party and despite being in the EU not because of it

The problems were already massive when Labour took charge. It’s well documented. Just do a bit of research on the net and you’ll see. Since then we have been served the usual soup of the 70s were crap because of Labour but like everything in life, it’s slightly more complex and less one-sided than this.

Do a bit of research on the net? I lived it and my family lived it

That’s why we won’t rejoin in your lifetime but we probably rejoin in mine.

If everything was going so well before Labour got in, I wonder why people voted for them.

Anyway, you are clearly a staunched Tory. Nobody will ever change your mind. And even when your nose is in the shit, you’ll still tell us that shit smells like roses. Time will tell but yesterday’s result is not looking good for your Brexit fantasy. Bye for now. "

If in the future the people are given the option again and vote to rejoin then so be it. If it turns out half as bad as what is said on here it will be easy to win such a vote. As far as I know only the lib dems and possibly the greens are for this so you can vote for them or vote for any new rejoin party that emerges.

To be honest, I laughed when I read this.

Thinking that anything at all that is good could come out of Brexit is delusional.

Boden has made it clear that anything that messes with the good Friday agreement is going to be met with a simple "no". And he's right to do that.

BoZo will now perform yet another U turn as he goes cap in hand to get a deal from the EU.

I don't know what the predictions on here are. I've seen people suggesting all kinds of bizarre outcomes and quoting conspiracy theory websites."

No problem hun. We may or may not 're join though like you I'm sceptical of it . There are many theories on here. If leave are correct then we won't be 're joining any time soon. If remain are correct then it could easily see the start of a new party like the reverse of UKIP and or a surge for support for the lib dems and the greens.

Far too many conspiracy theories branded about by the remainers. Poor losers who instead of looking to make it work just want sabotage. Thank fuck they aren't in charge with that approach to moving forward.

Remainers. All you hear now is conspiracies about what is going to happen.

Joe Biden believes that the triangle of relationships, US-UK, UK-EU, US and EU, all have to work together, and you will see statements to that effect.

He'll want to try to regain trade deals with the EU, but that'll be a lot harder than getting one with the UK. I'd say hell use an agreement with the UK as a foot in the door to try with the EU. He'll want to realign the US with the WHO again and try and rejoin with Nato and climate change alliance.

His primary concern will be on the home front where he'll have his work cut out, considering that there was such a high support for 'Trumpism', this doesn't just disappear because Boden won, but it's about the voters, the people. America is a very divided country and will take years to bring it back together. The divisions have gone to the very core of the nation.

What's currently happening right now. Is what economists, and remainers predicted would happen.

The leave campaigns labelled it "project fear", then over time when the reality of the situation became apparent and undeniable, the same people shifted to say "this is what we wanted all along".

You haven't stayed anything specific, just airy fairy statement much like star sign projections. There's little if anything has actually changed since we left as far as I can see. Remainers projected a collapse of our economy, a collapse of the sterling, banks relocate from London to some other country, trade collapse with the EU etc etc. Still waiting on these to manifest themselves.

In 2016 the UK paved the way to freedom in the form of brexit

4 years later the americans realised their mistake and have put things right.

When will the UK realise ?

If you following normal accounting convention , the costs to which you refer will be offset against all the long term gains. Costs have to be matched against revenues, otherwise you create a false picture.

Of course, it had to happen, first they will unveil the ‘amazing ‘ trade deal they have got from the EU then they will unveil the amazing trade deal they have got from the US. With these 2 ‘amazing’ deals we will have paid of the £200 billion Brexit bill in roughly 100 years

I don't buy into the argument that the electorate being malleable and easily manipulated, is a good indicator of what's right and wrong.

Trump is claiming voter fraud, where there is no evidence.

The leave campaign cheated and lied. For democracy to work it has to be "free and fair".

Boom

All I hear from remainers is one complaint after another. Half cock ideas of we're all going down the the tube.

The reality is that the E U has been collapsing the paste 10 years and most don't want to see it. We decided to leave it and contrary to what the remainers all trying to imply the leavers know there will be changes and not all good, but they know in the long term it'll be better. The remainers were/ are all about the here and now, and to be honest, it was getting shite with the EU. The cost of staying in and propping it up was getting ridiculous, and ongoing millstone of billions and billions every year. So what if it cost billions to leave, interest rates are near zero and as the government has shown it can borrow and will borrow. You'd think the way they carry on with doomsday scenarios that we are the only ones borrowing.... Wake up guys everyone is so it evens out the playing field.

To the one who thinks there needs to be a special relationship between two leaders to have trade deals, again it's not about individuals but about country relationship...the history between the UK and America goes far beyond the current leaders and will continue after they both have died too.

Sadly people think too simply and too shallow.

Thank fuck we finally made the move and I'm sure a few others will follow. They have to find the money from each other to keep feeding the Eurozone as one big player left.

"Far too many conspiracy theories branded about by the remainers. Poor losers who instead of looking to make it work just want sabotage. Thank fuck they aren't in charge with that approach to moving forward.

Ah the old classic line that people who voted against this bullshit, are the ones to blame for the Brexit cluster fuck.

It's fun to watch people grasp at straws and people scra-ping the bottom of the Brexit barrel in a desperate attempt to hold on to the dream.

Its even more fun just watching people who cannot accept a democratic vote then bang on about trump who is doing the exact same, hypocracity at its highest. "

I don’t remember challenging the vote as fraudulent or remember anyone else claiming that ??

Only thing we challenged was the lies told about how great it will be and the lack of a plan . Lots of lies of promised land and no plan.

The actually plan is to have deregulated society which would follow the Republican view of life.

Less social state ie healthcare less red tape or to translate .

As in America two weeks holiday zero hours contracts , no right against dismissal lower pay but definitely less tax for business as that’s the only way to attract them now.

Singapore & Taiwan are similar economies. Look up the average blue collar workers wage then compare it to the bankers traders and company owners.

If they actually told you the real plan you wouldn’t believe it anyway would you.

Light touch fast moving tech economy . Amazon all the way !

Our country is in a mess due to years of under investment in both infrastructure and long term development .

Bad investment attitude all the way as we want profit tomorrow not in a few years .

Trump and the leave campaign eh! Lots in common.

Trump trying to subvert democracy, where as the leave campaigns got away with it, except some relatively small fines.i think the fact that the tories stood on respecting the referendum in the last election and smashed labour says it all, democracity works What makes me laugh is you cant even see how hypocritical it is to moan about trump not wanting to go and your continual stand on leaving the eu.

I don't buy into the argument that the electorate being malleable and easily manipulated, is a good indicator of what's right and wrong.

Trump is claiming voter fraud, where there is no evidence.

The leave campaign cheated and lied. For democracy to work it has to be "free and fair".

Two different situations, with different circumstances, and are not related in any way.

The remain campaign cheated, lied and manipulated data. It's politics if you think the remainers didn't then the blind man continues galloping."

How did the remain party cheat and lie?

They have to find the money from each other to keep feeding the Eurozone as one big player left."

Why are you swearing, you seem rattled?? Does the EU have to collapse for Brexit to be a success? Can you name the next country that will leave ? I will ask you this again, can you give me any examples of this ‘special relationship ‘ with America?

If we propped up the eu then let's see if it collapses on The 1st of Jan?

Brexit can still be a great success, the EU needs our market, and the USA, wants more access, whether its trump or Biden. The Europeans are still our friends and allies, and it's in both countries interests to cooperate. Ireland should be unified anyway, ASAP. And then no issue with a hard border. They should bring a referendum forward to solve the issue.

Maybe Ireland should be unified, but that won’t happen for years , so the issue of the hard border will remain

Sadly as we only account for around 3% of most countries including Germany’s exports I can’t see them needing us at all! They as a group account for 44% of ours. Who needs who exactly .

After all the deaths and subsequent hard work of all involved to get the GFA for Boris to in effect then throw that into the bin is disgraceful on his part. Theresa May had a plan to avoid it but Boris wanted power so voted it down. Looking back at Theresa she actually came up with something to please all but the hardest of right wing. Shame the Tories did their usual back stabbing.

Sorry for the deleted. I’m pissing myself.

I hope our brexiters and Tory croonies are watching Channel 4 news with one of Biden’s collaborators saying: ‘If the U.K. pushes with the internal market bill, there won’t be any trade deal with the U.K, period’. I hope it’s clear enough for the unicorns lovers.

:D

Trump stuffed, vaccine and Johnson put back in his box. The good news is coming thick and fast!!

Oh the begging bowl. Have you received your Daily Express?

Well there is nothing hypothetical about this. You watch Chanel 4 plus 1 and you listen to what Biden’s aide said. You can get then in touch with him and tell him you have heard it all before. I’m sure that’ll make a big difference. That’s the end of no deal and Britain’s love for red mullet is about to disappear.

We walk away with no deal and the yanks are on our case. That’s what happens when you put all your edges in the Trump’s basket. Just suck it up and welcome to project reality.

common sense tells you if it was french waters and the uk wanted to continue the same access mr barnier would say no you cant cherry pick.He knows that, the whole eu know that they are asking the impossible and no country would sign a deal that gave away their waters indefinitely. They have been offered access but on a yearly quota basis just like norway does.It will be interesting to see if a no deal comes about over fishing and if it does it will prove the eu is only for the few not the 27 as most of them dont fish in uk waters.

It's always interesting to find out where people get their misinformation from.common sense tells you if it was french waters and the uk wanted to continue the same access mr barnier would say no you cant cherry pick.He knows that, the whole eu know that they are asking the impossible and no country would sign a deal that gave away their waters indefinitely. They have been offered access but on a yearly quota basis just like norway does.It will be interesting to see if a no deal comes about over fishing and if it does it will prove the eu is only for the few not the 27 as most of them dont fish in uk waters."

No, a lot of British fishermen have sold their quotas to French and Spanish boats because they wanted to make as much dosh as they could. Forget the Farage’s propaganda and inform yourself. And yes, some British boats fish in the french waters.

Anyway, who cares, it’ll soon be over.

I almost want a no deal now. Just for the fun.

Remember, when the shit hits the fan, I can still move to the EU and look at you eating pike all day. "Sorry for the deleted.

Any bets on how soon we are told of the fishing rights issue positive resolution ?

you know the one, the bit where Boris says "ok whatever"Of course there will be a positive outcome the eu will accept reduced fishing quotas as was offered in the 1st place.

So fun to see you trying to put positive spin on this. I can’t wait to see the show.

Of course you will tell us that shit smells like roses but who cares about Little Englanders new love for fish they’ve never eaten, the tide has turned.

When are we walking away with no deal? I haven’t heard any Torres mentioning this for the past four days. The EU are now holding us by the balls.

So why is Barnier in London with his begging bowl?

Going out on a limb here, but I think it was no coincidence that Brtishes force dealt so quickly with overwhelming forces with a ship in British territorial waters the other week.

I don’t know. I have the choice between 27 countries. That’s the beauty of being an EU citizen on top of being British. You have the best of both worlds And when one side decides to stupidly shoot itself in the foot and revert back to the stone age you have the possibility to move. I don’t intend to anyway as my job won’t suffer because of the brexit madness. I’d say France, Austria, Germany or Portugal.

As mentioned before, I’m gutted for the people who are on the receiving end of this nonsense and who will lose their job or be worse off.

My life won’t be affected. I’m just heartbroken to see the country ( or countries) I love drifting apart because of this nonsense. I am a proper europhile and I’ve always been.

We have so much in common with our neighbours. It’s so stupid to suddenly turn our back on Europe. And when you see in what state America is, I really can’t see what we have in common with it apart from our language.

The pinnacle of that madness is to have to rely on a moron like Trump to get the Brexit that some of you guys want. It shows how isolated we have become and how one single event ( for example the US election) can turn everything upside down. We find ourselves more isolated politically and economically than never before. Complete madness.

My fate doesn’t matter much. It’s not because I won’t suffer personally that I don’t care about other people. That’s why I am a leftie.

You’re going to chill too or rather you’ll feel the chill. You’ll also be able ( or you already do) enjoy the lowest pension in Europe. Yes, google it. Another thing the horrible EU has imposed on its British victim not the tories and the dodgy pensions funds. What’s not to like? I hope Boris has planned a state visit for Biden.

Good for you, i cant see what all the brexit tantrums are about from you then you can go and live where ever you want. yet but the tantrums have only been going on for 4yrs he mite chill out when he moves to Europe fingers crossed lol

Well let's hope he is bi lingual, the EU are to introduce new rules on migrants being able to speak the language of the host country

Heu, sorry I can only speak English, French, German and Portuguese. I hope that’s enough for you. I assume you can just about make yourself understood in Margate and Blackpool and when you go to Spain, you just shout louder in English to get your pint of Fosters.

My parents were Italian and I have a home in Spain.

Good for you, where did you live? "

I have spent a lot of time in France ( dual nationality), in Germany and holidayed a few times in Portugal. I’ve learnt Portuguese for eleven years now. Love it. It’s still my weakest language though. Great country. Fantastic people and brilliant food, especially fish!

Sorry I’m just too excited, Nothing to hide, I’m laughing my head off. Get the cans of positive spin ready guys. You need to stockpile. Are you keeping the unicorn positive spin for later. Have you already conceded? Don’t worry about me guys.

I am genuinely interested to know what you think the British have so much in common with the members of the EU?

When you go to France for example, don’t you think that you have a lot in common with people who live there? I mean, come on, culturally we are so close to our European neighbours! It depends a lot about social class too I guess. Middle class Brits usually feel very at ease and at hone on the continent. I suspect working class people, less so....

Punch me in the face because I would say that we have a lot in common with french people? Yep, no doubt, you’re a proper Brexiter. No doubt about it. You probably don’t have much in common with french or Italian people yourself, your probably closer to the average redneck from Alabama....

This was obviously not my entire argument but this was just an example to illustrate my point but if you really need me to spell out the tons of things that we have in common with our neighbours, it’s probably because it’s beyond you.

The people I hang around with feel close to Europe culturally. However, they don’t punch people who disagree with them, they don’t vote for brexit,, they don’t read the daily express, they are not d*unk at ten o’clock in the morning and they are all educated enough to see what we’ve got in common with places like Italy, Spain etc.. They even holiday there or have a house there too.

Let’s cut it short and your Bovril, pal.

Manchester

I think we have more in common and a similar outlook with Europeans than the Americans.

Having worked in a few countries and spent a fair bit of time in the states I would say we are total strangers to Americans. Disney visits don’t count!

Americans are very introvert in their view of the world. The remember Churchill but know nothing of who we are now and frankly don’t care. . Our European friends are happy to trade and work alongside us.

Spending a lot of time on Scandinavia over the last few years you can tell the American table in a bar or restaurant as their noise drowns out everyone else.

My Norwegian friends who are very refrained ask me why do they have to shout all the time?

Most of the south of France is British folk who get on well with the locals and all agree to hate Parisians. Everywhere I’ve worked in Europe I’ve always been welcomed . Recently it’s been what the fuck are you lot doing? Has the U.K. gone mad?

There is another side to us brits.

Go to tourist hotspots and our younger generation show us up.

In Eastern Europe they can tell the brits on holiday as they are usually pissed shouting and puking up in someone’s doorway! They also think we are all fat!

In Spain the English guys are usually the topless ones in the shops dripping sweat over everything. Classy eh!

We have left the Germans behind in being rude and offensive. We are in a league of our own.

Maybe it’s a good thing we have left as we are fast becoming the slob cousins you don’t talk about.
