Apparently the last time a Democrat overturned an incumbent president was roosevelt.

Clinton did it.but the vote was split by Ross Perot.

Here is our take on this. The DNC lost dramatically for a token president. 2022 is they key to the house. Republican controlling the senate and picking up seats in the house was a game changer. They are in full panic mode right now. They can either choose to be more bipartisan in the house or lose it all. We shall see.

Bipartisan is a dirty word to McConnell, I believe he would rather obstruct like he did with Obama.

A team of OSCE intl election observers called Trump’s claims of voting irregularities “baseless” & said they “harm public trust in democratic institutions.”

They complimented the voting itself, calling it “competitive & well managed.”

I should add to this there is zero evidence from the intelligence agencies of foreign interference in the electoral process.

The irony is that Biden may be bad for us when it comes to a deal with the USA. Pretty sure he's one of the people who was clear that they'd do no deal with us if the peace process in N Ire is at risk.

He's better on climate change. That's by far the most important thing for the rest of the world.

His foreign policy is likely to be similar, although maybe less ham-fisted.

Not being Trump is enough for most people.

In fairness, having no president for four years would have been an infinite improvement.

So he'll end fossil fuels, not end fossil fuels, cure cancer, change the weather, fuck up the middle east but in a more delicate way AND save the US from corona virus?

Question I want answered is this.... Who will the late night talk shows, comedy shows and woke movie stars round on now that Donald trump is consigned to the history books? There is a shit load of celebrities that are gonna be well short of new material come the next few months... Spare a thought eh?

We will all be long gone by the time the UK is expected (50 years or so, as per JRM) to recover from Brexit. So I doubt we've heard the last of it.

I hope so, we will soon find out, it might take a while to pay back the £200 billion that Brexit has already cost but all the new jobs that you are expecting should cover that in a couple of decades

You could say...

"What's the point of being part of a large trading block if the number of people with purple t-shirts is high and people are singing? Jeez"

The number of people with purple hair, singing and unemployed is not related to the size of the trading block.

You could say that easy trading with all the countries within the EU helps British businesses. And you could say that being part of a larger trading block allows us to negotiate from a position of strength, in order to get good trade deals. As a examples of something that being part of a large trading block is relevant to.

Largest trading bloc in the world, so how come there is so much youth unemployment across Europe? Who's benefitting from this amazing trading block?

What's the size of the trading block go to do with the employment rate?

What a bizarre statement.

What's the point of being part of a large trading block if unemployment is high and people are skint? Jeez

Are you expecting there to be higher employment and GDP once we leave the EU?

Higher GDP per capita definitely

I hope so, we will soon find out, it might take a while to pay back the £200 billion that Brexit has already cost but all the new jobs that you are expecting should cover that in a couple of decades "

Businesses are benefitting? Strange there is no mention of the people there and I had you down as a Labour man

I am Labour man , I am guessing you aren’t? I was trying to explain the advantages in a language you will appreciate and understand, you mentioned unemployment and money? Can this problem be solved with a better well paid jobs? Increase the minimum wage ??"

Of course it can be solved with better well paid jobs. Minimum wage? That was a mistake from the start but difficult to abolish it now. The minimum wage became the norm and not the minimum. Most people were better off comparatively before it was introduced than they are now but I don't think you would understand how that works or agree with it, let's face it, people on the left are only happy when we're all as poor as each other

Yes moderation Either way you look at it joe is in.Trump can whine all he wants. He will be removed if necessary. But there is policies that joe ran on that is not going to sit well with people. So either way this is same story different president. So expect extreme right violence if he doesn't come up with a middle ground solution.

Biden is centre or centre right. Policy wise.

Just goes to show that Trump did a good job pulling everything to the right.

We should remember that being opposed to fascism in America right now, is seen as being extreme left wing.

The threat of left wing violence should dictate policies it's the same violence either way you look at it. Hence the moderation statement. The solution is harder than you think.

Yes moderation Either way you look at it joe is in.Trump can whine all he wants. He will be removed if necessary. But there is policies that joe ran on that is not going to sit well with people. Hold on, you think a legitimately elected president should be hostage to the threat of right wing violence? thats not how it works

Essex.

Things I have learned today.

The UK is the only country in Europe to be financially affected by Covid.

The media are only trusted if they say what I agree with, if it says something I don't agree with, it's brainwashing.

Biden, the honest politian who started out with nothing is now worth $9 million, and we thought our MPs were well paid...

It didn't that's my point for more moderation. The honest opinion from being a Independent that voted for Trump is here alot if families rely on fracking. Our economy thrives on it. Reported on BBC news website that protesters (some of them armed openly) gathering around a vote counting center in Phoenix, Arizona. Cannot say for which side, but as there is a Trump 2020 banner prominently on display I could take a guess.

I don't know why it's so unlikely. Trump told his supporters to vote in person. Biden asked his voters to vote by mail to avoid spreading the virus.

It's not about owning guns, its about gun control. Thankfully the NRA is finished as lobbying organisation for the gun manufacturers. The moment anyone starts talking about gun control, the gun lobby immediately distorts the argument to omg they're coming for your gun. America will never be a gun free society.

I would have thought that giving up gun ownership is a small price to pay for not having children shot to death in schools. It's entirely academic as the NRA heavily sponsors the Democratic and Republican party.

I genuinely can see zero merit in allowing every Tom dick and Harry to be heavily armed. The results for the number of people shooting eachother in the states, speak for themselves. So mass murder via machine guns is set to continue.

As for fracking, how about the government invests in renewable energy. Creates more jobs, costs less, and doesn't ruin the environment.

Again, it's entirely academic, as the fossil fuels industry heavily funds both the Republican and Democrat parties over there.

First of all they are not " machine guns ". The are semi automatic just like any other gun you can purchase. Pistol rifle shotguns do the same exact thing. You honestly think you are going to take every single weapon off the streets that is semi automatic. Gun purchases Sky rocketed during pandemic and riots it wasn't all right or left buying them. So now what break people's doors down and take them ?

Renewable energy.US just became energy independent you think the Dem or Rep is going to give that up ? Fracking millions of people rely on that income what is the solution ? Renewable is not the answer when all you have is that income atm.

Yeah like I said. It's never going to happen as the NRA and fossile fuels industry owns both main parties.

I don't care what the gun is called. Giving them up is a small price to pay for not having kids shot to death and all the other mass shootings. Your argument that it would be difficult to achieve seems like a weak reason to not even try.

It is difficult to achieve. It's ingrained in our society. There are more guns then population. So all the average american can do is protect themselves. Because criminals are not going to give up theirs.

Because criminals are not going to give up theirs."

You've been indoctrinated with fear so those who sell guns can just make more money.

"Because criminals are not going to give up theirs."

I think I am correct in saying that most criminal activity using guns are done with illegally bought firearms? So some form of firearms regulation wouldn't even make much difference to this subset.

"First of all they are not " machine guns ".

I realise it's not a simple problem to solve.

Just don't think that a politician should be demonised for bringing gun controls into the conversation.

Hubby and I listened became friends with and watch them die defending that piece of paper called the constitution. We support whoever is president within the rules of the constitution. Trump is out he needs to go people have spoken. But by no means are you changing something for a political premise that has been our right from day 1. Just our personal feelings. So glad the UK happy with joes victory.Enjoy yourselves you earned it.

"Our thoughts hopefully but we doubt it this is going to end peacefully unless there is moderation.

Moderation? Why doesn’t Trump just act with dignity and integrity? That might help stop any potential violence

Yes moderation Either way you look at it joe is in.Trump can whine all he wants. He will be removed if necessary. But there is policies that joe ran on that is not going to sit well with people. So either way this is same story different president. So expect extreme right violence if he doesn't come up with a middle ground solution.

So you think the threat of extreme right wing violence should dictate how your President makes his decisions?

The threat of left wing violence should dictate policies it's the same violence either way you look at it. Hence the moderation statement. The solution is harder than you think.

When did left wing violence influence Trumps decisions?

It didn't that's my point for more moderation. The honest opinion from being a Independent that voted for Trump is here alot if families rely on fracking. Our economy thrives on it. Joe wants to ban it. The 2nd amendment a big deal we don't expect you to understand our gun rights.Joe wants to ban them too. ACA and socialised medicine they can't even get VA hospitals right let alone nationally. So you see middle ground more moderate is the way to go. Find solutions everyone can agree with.

Nobody understands your gun fetish. Especially after the many awful incidents you've had at schools.

Some people need a gun to make them a man.

I guess so since it's a woman talking . I can send pics if you like."

Sorry I wasn't clear. I wasn't referring to you specifically, or even American gun owners specifically, but rather people I've come across who felt the need to produce a firearm when they don't get their way.

The numbers involved in mass killings are so small as to be hardly measurable.

The only ones who would give up their guns would be the law abiding, the criminals and nutters will never do so, it's not even that hard to get hold of a hand gun if you really want one.

It is ok to legalize heroin and crack in oregon. That sets a states precedent for other states but that is perfectly fine in everyone else's mind. But no can't have the 2nd amendment.

Yes but a tiny percentage are "mass" killings, the figures I found it was around 60 deaths from a total 15,000 from all gun related killings.

No one is arguing that any killing is very bad but they wont be giving up their guns, how do you suggest they collect all these unregistered guns from those that want to keep them ?

Just looked it up according to wikipedia there are 392 MILLION unregistered guns in the states, in total there are 120 guns for every person in the states.

Would YOU give up your gun knowing all your neighbours have one ?

We were in the states in dec 2012 when the mass killing in the school (Columbine?) Happened I remember it being on the news that in the days following gun sales shot up as people wanted to be able to defend themselves.

Totally agree with your point about legalisation of drugs its absolutely bonkers and I include cannabis in that too.

I just think that better regulation should be part of the conversation in their government.

Obviously it's not an easy task. But it seems silly that any politician who wants to even talk about tackling the problem is demonised and labelled unelectable.

Surely you have an idea how to reduce guns other than a simple wish for it to happen.

If you look up the numbers of guns in the states its plainly obvious that a very large percentage of people own a gun, why would they want to give them up ? Most have them to protect themselves from the nutcase, again would you give up your gun you keep to protect your family from a lunatic breaking into your house intent on killing you.

Your desire to reduce guns is very worthy but simplistic

I assume he's calling for the militant element of Trump supporters to come out and protest violently.

Sounds like a tactic from Colonel Gaddafi during the darkest days in Libya.
