Just wondering.
If a new political party was launched by people who are not tied to the existing dogma of labour and Conservative but would look at our country and tell us the reality of our debt and not lie.
But not only give us the truth but tell us the way as a nation we should try to get out of it would you take them seriously?
I’m reminded of Rory Stewart the nutter but openly honest about his faults or John smith (RIP) who told it like it was and even criticised his own party. I know Rory was not in John Smith’s league but the principal
Is valid.
People who cared not about the existing status quo but about what we could achieve if we actually stopped tne gravy train and vested interests ( unions in this too!)
Would you consider risking your vote for them? |

Yes. It’s just a shame the two parties dominate in such a stale way. Other countries seem to get behind fresh thinking parties in a much quicker fashion. |

I used to consider myself on the left of politics but I couldn't in all good conscience vote for labour at the moment
I find myself agreeing with some conservative policies but voting Tory doesn't sit well with me either
I also see so many people entrenched in either the left or the right at the moment that the split in this country is almost palpable |

"Would you vote for the Laurence Fox Reclaim Party?"
I agree with him on a lot of things but already he's had the 'racist' label thrown at him in an attempt to shut him down. Which is just the most deplorable and dishonest tactic of the left right now |

I realise this would take serious money but maybe some philanthropic Billionaire frequents FAB??
Seriously though how refreshing it would be if the candidates say no false expenses . I work for the wage.
We’ll stop legal tax evasion We’ll stop benefits being a lifestyle . I showing each end of the spectrum as we all are indoctrinated to believe labour voters just support 3 day working week and double salary pensions whilst tories are iI’m alright jack and fuck anyone else. Both are untrue.
I’m in business so live well but I know I’m not alone in thinking society could be so much better if we all took responsibility for paying our share but also not believing your entitled by saying you don’t have to contribute to get benefits.
We pay carers of our elderly a pittance but we pay bankers millions . They both work hard and yes bankers may work longer hours and have a degree etc but the gap in value for money I would question. |

I think it's an interesting discussion point.
Personally I think a new party would only be of interest if it offered something different to what we have now.
I don't think the media or the establishment would allow a new party, who were offering something new and different, to get any support. |

Could social media fight its cause? Most of society learns their news online now so with the right site maybe? |

It could but lets be honest social media is the biggest generation of false information out there it might not be the best way. |

Some politicians gained support by social media over the past five years. But they had the backing of mainstream established parties. To one extent or another.
And the mainstream established media still has the power to take them down.
The key would be to find a way to fight through the misinformation which swamps us all now. |

Well, in Scotland, we have another party to vote for. They do in Northern Ireland and Wales, too. Not new Parties, obviously - and plenty of people can't stand the SNP, the DUP, Sinn Fein, Plaid Cymru, etc.
However, these Parties provide an alternative to the usual stuff the Tories and Labour (ie. Tory-Lite, if they ever want to win another UK GE) have to offer; as, indeed, did UKIP and the Brexit Party.
The problem with UK politics is that even though the major parties are fucking awful - and are incapable of long term thinking and planning - the minor parties can't persuade enough voters that they're worth voting for, under our current electoral system.
Of course, neither the Tory Party, nor the Tory-lite Party want PR, in order to make the UK an actual democracy; like Germany, Israel or New Zealand.
Why? Because they know they would have to form minority governments or, God forbid, coalitions. Also, in a PR Parliament, the minor parties - whose voters have as much right to be represented as anyone else, if we truly believe in democracy - would be able to influence Government policy. Don't believe me? Check out the positive influence the Green Party had in Germany.
I can't say for sure if that would be a good or a bad thing, right now, given the fucking shit-show we're in - but the current UK Government - clueless cunts all - aren't even speaking with one voice. So, how much worse could it be? |

Would the first steps in that case be proportional representation because at the min a lot of votes are wasted due to having no representation.
I was always against it as it caused chaos in Italy year after year but after nearly forty years of no real change I’m willing to try anything to get a proper government who actually look after us all not just their own supporters.
We are heading to extremist politics like America and that is both devisive and destructive.
I know I’m a wishful thinker but fuck me I can’t be alone surely! |

There’s no reason why this country couldn’t have new parties. However the main reason it’s almost impossible is our first past the post system. For a new party to establish itself, it takes a minimum of time and if you’re not going to get any seats, you can’t last. When you think that the despicable Farage never managed to be an MP despite the popularity of his party, it tells you everything you need to know.
Obviously the two big ones are not going to let the system be amended anytime soon.., |

Sad but probably true. I just get the feeling there is a groundswell or normal hard working caring people in this country who’ve had enough.
Maybe it will need another Farage to get proportional representation to give a chance for a new way.
All parties start with one member. |

That leads to a week government with week coalitions and nothing really getting done. The theory is great but you only have to look at Italy to see it struggles to work. |

Is it better to have the vast majority of voters being disenfranchised because they live in a safe seat? Surely there is a way to introduce a dose of proportional representation in the system like in a Germany. |

I think we've largely fallen into the trap that the way we do things is the only way be that the voting system which does as said mean a lot of people's votes are nigh on wasted depending on the local and the tribal aspect that 'our' way is the only way and 'theirs' is wrong..
The two main parties will never as stated give it up though, too many vested interests and people with a safe career path to the lord's or a seat on a board ..
It's less about democracy and more about protecting the system.. |

"No longer vote Labour, as its a proven racist party."
That's a really naive and simple statement..
Are there racists, misogynistic arses, arrogant toss pots in all parties yes..
But it's the same in work places, clubs and some homes..

Anti-Semitic abuse is against the law - and in May last year the body that polices human rights and equalities in the UK launched an investigation into Labour's handling of complaints about the behaviour of some of its supporters.
On Thursday, the Equalities and Human Rights Commission published its report, saying Labour had broken the law.
Mmmm tell me again the Labour Party isn’t racist |

Am not a member, never have been so don't know how many members there are but it's several hundred thousand or thereabouts..
The report your refering to explicitly did not say the party is racist..
That's not to duck or deflect from what was going on but your stretching credibility in what you claim..
Btw, how is the inquiry on into islamophobia in the Tory party getting on, 300 allegations ..
The outcome of it ever actually happens will likely say the same, some therein not all.. |

Also with Liverpool history being born out of the slave trade you must have overlooked the fact it’s illegal in UK and most civilianised countries to discriminate someone for their race or religion. Which is what the Labour Party did and does with it Jewish members. |

Which is the Law the report is referring to?
Also with Liverpool history being born out of the slave trade you must have overlooked the fact it’s illegal in UK and most civilianised countries to discriminate someone for their race or religion. Which is what the Labour Party did and does with it Jewish members.
Liverpool was a trading city hundreds of years before the slave trade..
Didn’t say it wasn’t. None fact Liverpool made it wealth from the slave trade.

Which inquiry where your source?
Exactly..
Well done
Sajid Javid getting Boris to agree to one live on telly in the leadership election debate..
That one..
Sajid Javid getting Boris to agree to one live on telly in the leadership election debate..
Television isn’t an inquiry??
Or report ?

It's not in question what the findings were, it's the stupidity of anyone trying to say the whole party was..
It ignores that people left the party during that time and that there was opposition within and a stated aim to rectify the wrongs that took place.

"Anti-Semitic abuse is against the law - and in May last year the body that polices human rights and equalities in the UK launched an investigation into Labour's handling of complaints about the behaviour of some of its supporters.
On Thursday, the Equalities and Human Rights Commission published its report, saying Labour had broken the law.
Mmmm tell me again the Labour Party isn’t racist
What law was this exactly?
The racial law?
Oh nooooo not you again, have a wank might clear your head. Google anti semitic

Oh these is the Race Relations Act of 1968 and 1976.
No sure it covers Liverpool though
Right..so can you point out the section in the report which stated they broke the race relations act and when they are due in court?
Cheers
I’m only gonna going on the Guardians summary of the report but according to them The Labour party broke equalities law including harassment and discrimination over antisemitism.
They were also responsible for three breaches under the equality act.
If you believe the Guardian that it.
If you break the law is there not legal action?
Could be pending.
Would you like me to link the article for you Lionel that states they broke the law?
I'm just having a look

Right..so can you point out the section in the report which stated they broke the race relations act and when they are due in court?
Cheers
I’m only gonna going on the Guardians summary of the report but according to them The Labour party broke equalities law including harassment and discrimination over antisemitism.
They were also responsible for three breaches under the equality act.
If you believe the Guardian that it.
If you break the law is there not legal action?
Could be pending.
Would you like me to link the article for you Lionel that states they broke the law?
I'm just having a look
Here let me be of assistance.

Where did I say they broke the race relations act?
You’re doing it again Lionel
It was mentioned earlier on.
The way I read it the report
Has made recommendations.. if these are not acted on..legal action may follow.
Surely I'm being naive but if you break the law you are punished?
If I get caught speeding the policeman doesnt say..go slower or next time you will be fined
And you havent explained the "partly responsible 'bit?
Why do I need to explain the partly responsible bit?
I guess because of the enquiry releasing its findings perhaps legal action may follow. Let’s hopes so be nice to draw a line under if for the Labour Party.
If they broke the law arent they fully responsible?
No idea I didn’t come up with the findings. Perhaps address them direct.
You posted it?
Yeah the headline says partly responsible?
Sorry I’m lost? the discussion was whether theY broke the law. They did the end. whether “partly” or not.
If you don’t accept it that’s on you not me.

And above we have evidence of why we need to create a new party.
The argument to win is overriding what’s ultimately wrong which is both side are more interested in winning points over each other rather than what needs doing to sort our country.
Very few Labour Party members are racist against Jews just as very few conservative members are racist against Muslims. All we see is the point scoring by making it headlines rather than working to rid our society of any racism. Before anyone starts yes preserve our culture I know,

"I realise this would take serious money but maybe some philanthropic Billionaire frequents FAB??
" However it is hardly a like for like comparison.
a. Only a very small number of bankers command the salaries to which you refer and they would have to have exceptional skills and talents. On occasions they may have to work through the night. A significant element of the pay would be a bonus. None of the renumeration is being paid for by the taxpayer , when things go wrong it is shareholders who bear the losses. The average pay of a banker is quite low .
b . Carers provide a vital service and everyone agrees that their pay is on the low side . However if you increase pay , who pays ? Sadly many people have abandoned the concept of family values and are prepared to dump the care of their parents on others . However care work is flexible and hours can be adopted to someone's lifestyle and school runs. Other carers I know only work limited hours in order not to impact in their Universal Credit.
Care of the elderly is probably one of the biggest problems society faces in the future |

Average bank salaries are lower than people imagine which is due to the vast majority working in branches around the country . However the bankers I’m referring to are in the city such as futures traders. etc who’s average salaries are very much higher.
The average support analyst is on around £80-100k with up to a 100%bonus. Senior banking managers have an average £1.3m salary In the city again with substantial bonuses. Goldman Sachs average is £3m.
However a good trader can blow those guys away earning £5m plus.
I agree they do work long hours my nephew was known to work 16 hour days very often but his reward was at the higher end of these numbers. He is a senior futures trader. He gave me the numbers. Security guards work 16 hour days to make ends meet. They weren’t afforded the same privileged start regarding education as my nephew though.
It is sobering to remember the the bankers are not playing with their own money. It’s shareholder funds and a great deal of those shares are held by pension funds. Whose money is that? I hear you ask . Yes the guy on the shop floor paying into his private pension. So whenever the trader churns those shares for a commission or fee they are taking money off those funds. Yes they add but they take more than they should in my opinion.
The guys charging on government bonds are charging the government interest which is chargeable to the taxpayer. Bond traders make a bloody good living too. Even more soon, now that GB credit rating has fallen again, as interest on those bonds will go up.
In both cases it’s not their money.
Your comment on parents being dumped is just obscenely offensive. My mother had Alzheimer’s and my father cared for her for years until her illness nearly killed him and I insisted she go into a home. My father who had paid 83% tax in the 70’s when he worked had to pay £850 a week out of his savings to the care home as he’d saved to much of his income to be allowed any state aid. So your dumping comment is offensive and contemptible. You should be ashamed of that comment. My mother died after a few years in the home but not before the authorities had taken a substantial six figure sum from my father’s savings.
The care workers I know in that private home faired better than most but still were very underpaid,
If they were paid a decent salary they wouldn’t need universal credit so you’re confirming my point.
Working part time for child care is a choice and not relevant to the issue.

"Just wondering.
It could happen, there is clear apathy at the thought of voting for either big party. So many just don't bother. And we all know how lib Dems lost their "other choice" ticket. It would take time for any new party to gain traction, definitely possible though, just look at SNP. They carried on doggedly against Tories and labour and now pretty much rule in Scotland. I am not am SNP voter, never would be, but it shows that it can be done. |

Sorry to hear about your dad.
Your mum will be upset but she won’t realise how exhausted she is until he’s in the home.
Visiting the home where my mum was made me realise how amazing most of those careers are,
My mindset was low paid unskilled cleaners etc I must admit but my god was I put in my place. You can’t do that job full time if you’re not dedicated.
A couple of fat lazy exceptions but 99% amazing people. I have nothing but admiration for the staff at the care home. |

I thought it was a criminally offensive thing to say aswell.
Me dad is going into a care house cos me mum cant cope.
I had to delete what I was in was gonna say next.
Ta mate

I’m in business so live well but I know I’m not alone in thinking society could be so much better if we all took responsibility for paying our share but also not believing your entitled by saying you don’t have to contribute to get benefits.
We pay carers of our elderly a pittance but we pay bankers millions . They both work hard and yes bankers may work longer hours and have a degree etc but the gap in value for money I would question. However it is hardly a like for like comparison.
Care of the elderly is probably one of the biggest problems society faces in the future

I take offence as your statement was not only insulting to me but to the hundreds of thousands of people who both care and pay for their parents care.
Your attitude is similar to the statement that if a few benefit cheats are caught then all benefit claimants are cheats.
Your post are often persuasive and in sone cases very pertinent and interesting.
For you to make such a statement about people dumping their parents on the state is beneath you.
So what do you say to the older people who have no children and their only choice is to sell their hone to pay for care.
If a teenager who has paid no tax into the system has a car crash we provide all the emergency services and any after care should they need it including benefits.
If someone who has paid tax all their lives falls frail or ill and is in need of care at the end of their life, they have to pay through the nose. The state which they supported to provide for that teenagers care should provide for them in old age. Yes his parents may pay tax but what if they are unemployed and haven’t paid tax. Should we let him die? You’re suggesting that we should absolve ourselves as a nation of care for our elderly.
Yes some people and I suspect very very few don’t care for their family but that number is insignificant to be irrelevant.
Nobody chooses to go into a care home and leave their family home unless they can’t cope regardless of their finances. |

Although there is of truth in people not wanting to take parents in some have to resort to using care homes as they don't have the space. Also the majority do pay for care its often not a case of them having a choice as assets are assessed and many elderly people have to sell houses to pay for care which is a fair thing to do. |

I’m interested in views here.
If an elderly couple are on benefits and have a council house they pay nothing if one of them goes into a care home. And their bills at home keep getting paid.
If however they have savings after they have paid their tax on those savings, the savings are taken along with house they have paid for .
Is that ‘fair enough‘ as I personally think it stinks.
There is no incentive to work hard as it’s easier to just spend your money and take the free ride.
It should be free for all .
What society allows such a blatantly unfair system.

I agree with him on a lot of things but already he's had the 'racist' label thrown at him in an attempt to shut him down. Which is just the most deplorable and dishonest tactic of the left right now
He’s a posh prick who makes terrible music and acts as woodenly as his political imagination - we genuinely don’t need his contributions
I thought his man thing was everyone is equal and also that you shouldn't be castigated for your background which you have no control over.
Yep.
Proper socialist is our nigel."

Is that his fault he is posh? Some of what he says is a bit much but I get the equality point he makes. |

Its certainly not a capitalist one.
And Farage is no socialist. |

Jealous? No, I used to think he was an ok actor but when he was having a bit of a media hype a couple of years back to push his band, I realised he was a terrible musician to my eyes and then when I saw him pushing his political aspirations like some latterday mosely, I thought here is a man who was born to privilege telling me how I should behave? Laughable and lamentable!
Jealousy? I dont think so thanks |

Lionel we are talking about Laurence Fox who has political aspirations for his reclaim party, which is essentially a voice for the common neo-fascist in my opinion. Look him up if you want a laugh! |
