Turns out the furlough scheme may have paid out over £3.5 Billion in error, or to fraudulent claims.
Are we that incompetent as a country that we can’t check this stuff ? Not interested in it was rushed excuse that’s a huge some of money. Our tax system is quick to chase a tax code error.
Just as the £133Billion was paid to the bankers to keep their bonus structure safe in 2008/9.
When are the hard working average taxpayers of this country going to start shouting back at constant crap system of government and elite privilege coming before a better fairer society. |

"Such an unfair society that the government quickly stepped in and supported 1.2million employers and nearly 10 million employees, as well as nearly 3 million self-employed.

But that's more about society in general than the furlough scheme.
I'm not sure may people can argue we live in a 'fair'society. |

Its not a great lot whrn you compare the hs2 fiasco, it's cost has soared to new heights and well over and still early days. I think its a scheme to rip off the taxpayer in building it |

Hm sounds like a riddle. What is fair if life is not fair? (But maybe I'm overthinking this. It could have just been a pointless interjection.) |

Another case of you muddling the waters. You must be enjoying making people say what they’re not saying. Nobody is criticising the furlough scheme but the fact that 3.5 billion have been claimed wrongly. Your inaptitude at reading posts is quite staggering - unless you do it on purpose to twist other people’s posts.

Did you read my post or just decide to post about something else that popped into your head?
My post was around incompetence nothing to do with the intention behind the idea.
Our tax system runs like veins through society, The control seen here seems to be extremely lax.
The tax office doesn’t have the resource to investigate these payments so can only rely on whistleblowers. Yes the system was going to have faults but £3.5 Billion? Just embarrassing.
Have ever wondered whether the £133 Billion paid to the banks was ever paid back?
The government still has debts there and now read through the average bonus payments in the city firms. Please excuse my comments if you are one of the bank workers who aren’t anywhere near the city excess.

You closed your post about the HMRC boss suggesting there may be between 5-10% of error/fraud in the furlough system by moaning about the government always messing up putting the rich/elite/themselves ahead of doing something about a fairer society.
I simply suggested that it was a really unfair society where the government supported millions of businesses, employees, self employed when needed.
On point if you ask me ...

No I don’t agree with you at all and your sarcasm wasn’t called for.
I’m not comparing about the Furlough scheme in any way and in fact think it’s an excellent scheme in principal.
My point is on incompetent Government across all sides of the political divide.
Every time this happens who is held to account? How many bankers were sent to jail ? Answer 1
In the phone hacking again one poor sap went to jail whilst the head of The News of the World was given £10m compensation for losing her job.
MP’s fraudulently claim expenses, oh it’s ok I’ve paid it back so done the honourable thing.
I think two MP’s we’re prosecuted.
Javid taking a consultancy role in the city within months of being Chancellor of the Exchequer.
I strongly suspect that job wasn’t advertised on Linkedin.
Boris backing JCB on their Brexit stance while he is being paid by JCB .
Labour leaders sending their children to private school while decrying the system of private schools.
Labour claiming a corrupt society before accepting a seat in the lords .
I think our civil service must be totally disheartened at being lead by such a crooked bunch of self interested people.
Until we fix the accountability of leadership what chance do we have to improve the process of administering our country. and hence stop the fraud.
Rant over and no hard feelings. I’m just getting so fed up with our political system and the 650 professional liars in parliament.
