A licence has been issued for a news channel that would be biased towards right wing rhetoric.

Surely we want our news impartial but our news reporters holding our leaders to account across all sides.

UK news, in general, is a lot more unbiased than most countries, imo. But I do find it useful to was left wing news outlets followed straight after watching right wing media, as at least then you can see where both sides are coming from.

Yes, you think for yourself and get a balanced view.

Sadly 90% of our population don’t and just suck it all up.

Imagine how many people on this country read the likes of the sun,the mail the Express.

They will also target the hello/loose women market which is huge.

You’re right there are worse countries, however we let Murdoch take over too many newspapers and now he’ll have too many tv news outlets.

Our tv news is supposed to be unbiased by charter and give equal prominence to all views, so it can be checked.

Letting Murdoch have his own way with tv is following the nightmare which engulfs the US.

My family in the USA ( they were born there) watch the BBC feeds to get the truth because their tv is so full of lies.

As sky news U.K. to the list of U.K. media stated here. It’s a monster .

I also discovered they hacked dead soldier’s families phones. This was overseen by the top people at Sky and nothing done about it by any government. One person did time I think.

To get a tv news licence today you have to share all points equally on air and give equal airtime. ( I don’t believe that works a lot) . Changing the rules will give a sun newspaper bias to what is supposed to be a serious journalistic source.

I personally want my news to be honest and truthful. I also want the rules around newspaper ownership changing back to only one allowed per business group.

Financial and political support to the political parties will ensure my wants will never happen.

But with regulation they can be held to account at some point one would hope. Letting the rules go means all news is biased and as most people in this country seem to be following the American dumbing down path we eventually only have the richest persons view being pushed forward as truth.

I don’t see the mainstream news as any different now to what it was 10 years ago. They all have their own agendas and it’s boxing clever to recognise that. Luckily we now have the internet and a wealth of alternative news sources to choose from too. I’m not going to get all bent out of shape about it all.

You’re obviously intelligent enough to go looking for the truth .sadly most are not.

The rules on media were relaxed by Thatcher to help her win support from Murdoch. That’s why we now have two main media companies ( both tax exiled ) owning most of the top 10 newspapers.

They are also massive online . Because it suits the present governments agenda they will do nothing.

I’ve watched over the years as our media becomes more and more dishonest and it’s become harder to find the truth.

That’s not a good thing for any democracy. Without the truth we are just mugs!
