No..id never heard of her either.she has just been appointed to head up the new body which will replace NHS England.
Coincidentally her husband sits on the advisory board of a think tank, who's manifesto calls for the abolition of the NHS and for it to be replaced by a private health care system. |

OK willing to admit he joined the board after the document was published.
His name is not on the document and here is a link.

"She was in charge of the track and trace protocols. She has appeared at a few of the daily briefings.
Before that, she ran one of the mobile phone companies. "
Yep she was CEO of talk talk which got hacked which lead millions of customers details getting leaked. I was one of them.
So with the failed track and trace she has hardly got a good track record to run deck all. |

Where to start with Harding. She was CEO of TalkTalk when it was hacked, leading to personal and banking details of up to four million customers being accessed. Her response was woeful. She didn't even know if customer data was encrypted.
She was later eased into the House of Lords as a Tory peer, just because.
She was put in charge of Track and Trace, which turned out to be bloody useless.
And now she's being put in charge of the agency to replace Public Health England.
Of course the fact she's married to a Tory MP and is a Tory peer has nothing to do with all the jobs she keeps being given. And there's no conflict of interest considering her husband sits on the advisory board of think tank "1828", which calls for the NHS to be replaced by an insurance system and for Public Health England to be scrapped. |

Good to see you're showing us all how to be calm.
But Penrose is on the board for 1828. Their own website says as much. |

It's an independent Think Tank.
They come up with ideas.
All parties use Think Tanks. It's how politics work.

Penrose is a Tory MP. He's on the board of a think tank that calls for the NHS to be replaced by an insurance system, which people pay for through private firms or a government scheme. The group also called for Public Health England to be scrapped.
His wife Dido is a Tory peer. She will chair the National Institute for Health Protection, a new body that will be formed as a result of the merging of Public Health England and NHS Test and Trace.
All seems terribly independent and above board. Nothing to see here. |

So the actual detail of this announcement is to do with the much-criticised Public Health England (PHE) being replaced by a new body - National Institute for Health Protection (NIHP) - which is said to be modelled on the German Robert Koch Institute.

The Tories set up Public Health England as an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social Care, in 1 April 2013.
And now they're abolishing it, replacing it with soemthing else and sticking one of their cronies in the chair.
And they're doing this in ths midst of a pandemic. Why? To try and distract from other headlines maybe? |

Indeed the not fit for purpose tag of bullshit is being slapped on to Public Health England - during a pandemic ....
When some other body is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
You do not have a purely political shake up of the nations health body
During a once in a 100 - 200 year health epidemic - do you ?
Unless ofcors you the .gov are not fit for purpose - and are purely engaged in smoke and mirrors - teflon bullshit deflection....... |

Well, quite. It's no surprise, sadly. Bear in mind who is currently in government. Unfitness for government is the default setting for the Cabinet and those appointed to work with them.
Patronage / cronyism are in the Tories' DNA - but, this century, they've been combined with catastrophic incompetence and, more importantly, a huge chunk of the public who don't give a shit. |

Does seem strange that she is in charge of this new body, although to be fair it is only on an interim basis, presumably to keep some continuity for the test, track and trace process already in operation ...

I think this is the point. The stuff PHE have been doing - which is operationally their remit - has not been good enough, and as you rightly point out some local public health officials have felt it necessary to run a parallel process.
One measure of the effectiveness of the new NIHP will be the availability to the local authorities of the data which they have so far not been able to see and contribute to. |

As you well know, a CEO doesn't have to know everything about a business. He or she is there to bring all the component parts together.
Dido Harding has been in charge of the NHS Improvement Scheme for the last tbree years.
Trying to make out she is totally unsuitable for the job is untrue.
She may or not be the best candidate for the job, but she is now under immense scrutiny to get the job right, and will rightly be judged on her results. |

"Errr yeh a killer invisible pandemic - ripping through Europe and infected people in the thousands and thousands arriving in our airports , the months before....
Ring any bells ???
No, specifically?
As opposed to 10 Premier League games, a Champions League game, rugby at Twickenham and Murrayfield, sell out concerts by the Stereopbonics and Lewis Capaldi, a Nike conference, Crufts and millions of people commuting on the Tube?
"
All big events should have been cancelled when the pandemic was clearly there. I'm not sure what your point is. Other mistakes absolve her mistake?

You singled her out for "corruptly putting the lives of public at risk"
Is Sadiq Khan corrupt, the FA, the Kennel Club? Or just her as it suits your political agenda?
She is on the Board of the Jockey Club, so the decision would have been a joint decision. Do you know how she voted? |

Actually, I talked about her because of her legacy of failure at TalkTalk. And Track and Trace. And the fact the Tories eased her in as a peer. And the fact her husband's a Tory MP. And the fact her husband sits on the board of a think tank that called for the NHS to be replaced by an insurance system and for Public Health England to be scrapped. And the fact she isn't a public health expert.
But I'm sure that's all irrelevant. I'm sure she was picked purely because she's the best woman for the job. |

"Arh a nice reasoned debate at last.
This Dido - Dodo - was in charge of the decision made to let the cheltenham races to go ahead..
She has no medical science background at all ??
Shocking again - mistake after mistake from out .Gov during this killer pandemic.
Cam Michael O Leary, CEO of Ryanair, fly a jet plane?
Was he hired by the gmnt?
As you well know, a CEO doesn't have to know everything about a business. He or she is there to bring all the component parts together.
Dido Harding has been in charge of the NHS Improvement Scheme for the last tbree years.
Trying to make out she is totally unsuitable for the job is untrue.
She may or not be the best candidate for the job, but she is now under immense scrutiny to get the job right, and will rightly be judged on her results. "
I'm sure her husband can give her a hand, if she gets stuck. |

Really - she has no public health experience is perfect for this new killer pandemic - medical health crisis
All we need now is it to be joined for the fight - with Public Health England & the NHS working efficiently together.
After all this is a Crisis like we have never seen before...... |

"She was in charge of the track and trace protocols. She has appeared at a few of the daily briefings.
Before that, she ran one of the mobile phone companies. "
Talk Talk. She oversaw the massive databreach that cost them millions. She also headed up the "world beating" (lol) track and trace system wasting millions on a failed App.
Wouldn't want her in charge of a wheelbarrow!! |
