1) the more testing thing..... yes you would tend to find more cases if you do more tests... but, the proportion of new cases they are finding is HIGHER than the proportion of new tests.... hence....spikes!!!!

I think my response may be a case of TL;DR and I don't blame anyone for not reading it. I do go on a little. But... The democrats absolutely are in power. It is the democratic governors and mayors who've tactfully used these recent events to try to outplay the republicans before the upcoming elections. Trump wanted to lockdown, eventually, before any of the democrats did. They said he was oppressing people; he was a dictator in the making, etc, etc. Pelosi telling everyone to ignore the warnings and "come on down to Chinatown". Mayor Deblasio urging everyone to ignore what was being said by the medical experts and encouraging mass gatherings etc. Mind, Even Governor Cuomo was a little critical of that. Then, when Trump wanted to reopen (bearing in mind he told the governor of Georgia I think it was, that he was opening his state too soon) the Dems completely turned tail and said that Trump didn't care about people's welfare and that he was endangering the lives of every American. That's all anyone heard from Dems was "keep locked down". Then come the riots and protests. The Dems get behind the protests and encourage more people to get out, even though they still preached lockdown. Chris Cuomo of CNN, Governor Cuomo's brother said live on air "burn it down. Burn it all down". This sentiment was endorsed by people like Pelosi. It was a Democratic mayor that encouraged and endorsed Antifa, the George Brown gun club, BLM and other Communists to cease a 6 block area in Seattle that they named Capital Hill Autonomous Zone (until they bitched out and realised that they couldn't use the word "autonomous" without some serious legal ramifications and named it Capital Hill Occupied Protest). In which the police were chased out, 14 people killed within the zone, businesses and residents within the zone constantly harassed. Ironically, Raz Simone effectively became pseudoTrump, erecting borders, with armed border patrols, ID checks and armed militia within the zone and we're told by Dems to believe it's just hippie dippie summer if love stuff. Then come the rallies. The Dems condemn anyone thinking of attending a Trump rally but encourage more looting, violence, rioting and protests. The Dems have overseen and even stood back and ordered law enforcement to step down whilst statues got pulled down, businesses, homes, private property get destroyed, and people's livelihoods getting ripped from them. Even statues of abolitionists, Union heroes, even people who had nothing to do with slavery or its abolition, the founding fathers all torn down and the Dems encourage it. The Dems have actively supported BLM's calls to defund the police. Even just recently, Mount Rushmore, the Dems are winding people up to believe that even that is racist, Independence Day is racist, and so on. The Dems may not be in government but they are certainly the party with the backing of MSM and social media which, these days is all you need to be powerful. The way the US works is that the president can only do so much on a state level. It falls to the mayor's, then the governors, then the president. The Dems know this. Particularly with the CHAZ thing I think that Trump had a very difficult decision to make but ultimately I think that he made the right choice. Because, the only thing that he could've done at his level was to send the army in and we know how juicy that wouldn't been for the Dems; "look at dictator Trump rolling in the army against these poor innocent protestors".
