notice amongst all the joy over the pubs opening the govt slipped out a plan to abandon the right to trial by jury due to a backlog caused by "covid " but nothing to do with the govts cuts to the court services .

dont we lambast dictators around the world for this type of thing ?

Yes, it is absolutely vital for oversight of government actions to be maintained at all times, especially during crises like this where laws are being rushed through. It doesn't matter what party is in government, all parties in every country of the world have shown through history that when allowed to govern with no effective oversight and without any method of being held accountable, bad decisions will be made. Nobody can be trusted with unopposed power, it doesn't matter whether they have intentions good or bad, there always have to be checks to ensure no abuse of the power we delegate to our government.

How dare they treat you like they treated Irish people for years

No jury trials.next they wil be framing you on fabricated evidence by corrupt cops in league with corrupt judges

Not only you but they might come after your entire family,including children,and do the same thing to them

We need to do this partly because of the backlog caused by covid and also with modern social media is this jury system becoming a problem for people to come to a well reasoned verdict?

the backlog was there well before covid all down to govt cuts to the courts system and no we dont need to do it we need to fund and run the courts properly not take away peoples rights to trial by jury
