This is totally separate to the ongoing "unfair dismissal" claim by Sir Philip Rutnam.

That will be held in public, so more scrutiny.

Hardly an open enquiry was it. If you and people like you are prepared to celebrate government decisions, taken behind closed doors with no outside input or scrutiny, simply because it suits your agenda, then we may as well kiss democracy goodbye right now.

You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

"I think the enquiry was handled by the Civil Service, not the Goverment. "

This is from the Institute for Government:

"When a breach of the Ministerial Code is alleged to have taken place, whether it is investigated is entirely at the Prime Minister’s discretion. The code explicitly says that it “is not the role of the Cabinet Secretary or other officials to enforce the code.”

Usually the Prime Minister chooses to involve the Prime Minister’s Independent Adviser on Ministerial Interests or requests that the Cabinet Secretary undertakes an investigation, but there is no requirement to follow any particular process. Following an investigation, the Prime Minister is the ultimate arbiter of whether there has been a breach of the code."

Hi. A great post. The great news is that a very substantial majority of the electorate recognise Pritis talents. If any civil servant refuses to obey the bosses instructions they do not deserve to remain in their role. Tax payers pay civil servants to carry out the government's instructions . Glad to see Priti standing up to them and refusing to be bullied .

Does her talents include not being able to read a number out and being sacked for holding unofficial meetings?

Hello Pat

Where is the survey indicating the electorate's opinion of Priti Patel?

According to Yougov 18% of the population have a positive opinion of her and 28% have a negative opinion. The rest are neutral or haven't heard of her.

You don't have to let yourself be manipulated at all.

You can look at the actual information available and decide on if you agree with its interpretation.

In the end people generally vote on what they believe what someone's intent is.

Certainly this time around it was disturbing to see that the Tory's were voted in having deliberately avoided answering any difficult questions.

That's the lesson from Trump too and decades of politics.

When people are not happy just saying that you can magically fix everything is enough

And he’s back in the ring - scania man, tractors and trailers, and all the other half formed personalities Pat has traded under while copy and pasting his “thoughts” from the bunker lol. I wonder how long he will be gracing us with his presence this time.

Oh and back on point - Priti Patel is classic middle management and also massively underqualified for the role she is attempting to play - she reminds me very much of katy hopkin on the apprentice - a huge ego but lacking in enough intelligence to realise why everyone dislikes her and is prepared to bully and lie her way to the top because immediate success is more important to her than long term strategic thinking....basically she’s a bit rubbish at her job and thinks that bullying will scare her staff off pointing it out to the public and her boss (Dominic Cummings) knows she is a useful tool for now

It is probably best if we allow the constituents whom Priti represents pass judgement. At the last election for her seat .

Labour 8794. 17.8 % of the vote.

Conservatives. 66 .6 %.

It looks like she is a very popular candidate. That is not even an opinion , it is based on votes cast . Actions speak a lot louder than words .

Few people would be complaining if they achieved the results that Priti returned.

The doubters are in a small but vocal minority.

So, she got 33,876 votes out of an electorate off 67,452, just over 50%, not exactly a glowing endorsement. Why did she get sacked from her previous ministerial job?

To most people obtaining 66.6 % of the vote is a very good result.

I assume that your question about her being sacked is a trick question. She resigned which is completely different to bring sacked. .

Officially? Breach of the Ministerial Code wasn't it?

Unofficially, are off the books negotiations with a foreign power treason?

I remember when she flew back from Israel. The news channels were following flight tracking apps and discussing how long she had left.

According to yougov,

Corbyn - 21% positive, 62 % negative

Starmer - 12% positive, 16% negative

Johnson - 34% positive, 47% negative

Going by all these numbers, Priti's 18 vs 28 looks like a decent support. Party based vote bank is always huge. There are plenty of people who vote conservative no matter who the candidates are and there are plenty who vote labour even if they don't like the candidates. Most of the hatred for Priti seems to come from unproven allegations.

She did indeed, maybe her previous ‘fuckup’ and the numerous cases of bullying are the reasons why she is so unpopular? I think she is completely out of her depth and is only in her position because she campaigned to leave and is close to Boris and Cummings .

True that her unpopularity may stem from that fuck up. But that doesn't mean we should consider her guilty on this issue even before the investigation. Both conservative and labour have members in high positions who are unpopular for various reasons. Many of them have had their own share of fuck ups.

Most of the hatred for Priti seems to come from unproven allegations."

Priti Patel has done and said things other than being accused of bullying and having to resign for having discussions and coming to agreements with the Israeli government without clearance.

More people disapproving of you than approving of you is "descent support"?

Looking and understanding numbers in this way really is a case of wanting to make information suit your beliefs.

Even Pat is able to stick to the line that she is popular in her specific ultra-Tory constituency and walk back from making any pretence at wider popularity.

"It is probably best if we allow the constituents whom Priti represents pass judgement.

According to Yougov 18% of the population have a positive opinion of her and 28% have a negative opinion. The rest are neutral or haven't heard of her.

Did you just mean the constituency which she represents?

One of the safest Tory seats in the UK which has never returned anyone else?

One with an above average number of over 65, home owning, white voters?

The perfect Tory demographic?

You are certainly consistent Pat

According to yougov,

Corbyn - 21% positive, 62 % negative

Why did she ‘resign ‘ from her last ministerial job??

Yeah. She fucked up big time then.

I was talking about the current scenario.

Many of them have had their own share of fuck ups."

Again, her unpopularity does not stem from one event.

That level of incompetence and arrogance would on the past have barred her permanently from public office.

Not many choices for BoJo though considering the lack of ability in his party.

It is actually years of opinion and behaviour and incompetence culminating in accusations of bullying from three different government departments that form people's opinions of her.

You can see her voting record on "theyworkforyou".

That's also the sort of thing people use to form an opinion.

They can also take a view based on her only ever having worked for Conservative Central Office or as a tobacco lobbyist.

Who has said that she is guilty of bullying other than those who are accusing her of it and bringing actions?

This thread is about the fact that this investigation process is secret and completely under the control of the Prim Minister so has little credibility.

There is an open tribunal coming up, so we shall see then how your heroine behaved in more detail.

And she is not my heroine in anyway

I hate her for so many things. especially her anti LGBT stance in the past. But I won't let partisanship cloud my judgement. And that doesn't mean everyone else will hate her too.

There hasn't been any clear evidence of her bullying and the investigation says so. But so many people ran into conclusions just based on allegations. I think there was a thread on here about how the bullying allegations. It mostly came from people who hated her and love hearing what they wanted to hear. Innocent until proven guilty only for the people you support?

No smoke without fire? I don’t hate her, I don’t think she is capable of doing her job and I don’t think she got the job on merit . The details of the investigation into these bully allegations hasn’t been made public and was conducted in house , we will have a clearer account of events after the tribunal .

I thought that the investigation was undertaken by the Civil Service so how does Boris come into the equation ? ? A civil service investigation would be impartial

Sir Mark Sedwill's probe found 'no evidence' to corroborate the allegations made by staff at the Home Office, the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department for International Trade.

Just for you Pat, I'll repeat what I wrote previously. Contemplate the final paragraph.

Then think again before replying

You first started to discuss her "unpopularity". I just used your vocabulary.

I quoted the actual data in response to the unsubstantiated assertion that the doubters were in a minority. The only available data indicates something very different.

If you want to have a completely different discussion about a completely different topic then you can have it on your own

Once again, I have not written anything about hating her. I happen to think that she is incompetent, arrogant and lacking in compassion, but I have not argued that in this thread either. Only you have mentioned anyone hating her.

Again, the current "investigation" on bullying was conducted in secret and decided upon by the Prime Minister who indicated his complete support for her before the investigation began.

I have no interest in what was written in different thread by different people. They are not me.

I have not claimed that she is guilty. I think that it is very likely that she is given that there are serious claims from different people in different departments.

I am quite happy to wait until the open tribunal to make a final decision.

Are you?

You just have to scroll a little bit up to see who started to say she was unpopular. And your backing evidence was the yougov poll. I only responded to it. Based on the numbers collected for other politicians fron yougov, it is clear that no conclusion can be reached from these numbers.

You do not consider her guilty. But you think she is very likely is. And you also feel that the investigation was not done properly. But you don't hate her

Just because multiple people allege someone of something, it doesn't mean it is true. You just have to look at the MeToo allegations against Neil deGrasse Tyson. There are plenty of other examples too.

. Hi. I am quite happy to accept everything you have written as being true so there is no argument. However information from other sources categorically state that there was no evidence to back up the statements that she bullied staff .

As we live in a free society I will be accepting the conclusions as published in various different newspapers and on the internet .I also accept your conclusion but it does not attract my vote.

On a simplistic basis I like most people accept that Priti Patel was cleared of any allegations of bullying.

What information indicates that "most people accept that Priti Patel was cleared"?

You have just provided your own opinion again Pat which you freely admit is of no consequence.

What value are you adding?

If you wish to accept the conclusion of a secret enquiry and a decision made by the Prime Minister, that is fine. I will wait for the open tribunal before drawing any conclusions.

Of course, I can wait for the tribunal. I can change my mind if she is pronounced guilty. But always innocent until proven guilty for me.

I really have no idea what you are trying to say as you seem to be having your own conversation unrelated to anything actually written down.

You will always be "right" if you change the terms of the discussion as you go.

Enjoy, but you'll be on your own "

What is hard to understand? You made a claim that she is unpopular based on some yougov poll. I showed you that yougov poll cannot be taken seriously to see if someone is unpopular. I told that most people are already bashing her on fab based on bullying allegations even before it was proven.

Oh yeah. You won't understand. That's a nice way to chicken out.

"On a simplistic basis I like most people accept that Priti Patel was cleared of any allegations of bullying."

Simplistic. His default setting.

And; he really isn't like most people.
